3. Deyna slowed his pace as he reached the huge opening to the city. Either side of it were two gaurds, both wolves and both had swords at their sides. Deyna walked towards them and smiled. "Good evening to you both he said cheerfully. The wolves smiled at him. "Good evenng to you too young otter!" the taller one said. "Ain't seen you around here before." the shorter one said. "That's cause i've never been here before. I'm a traveller" Deyna replied. The two gaurds nodded then noticed the dagger at Deyna's side. "My, that's a fine blade you got there!" the taller one said. Deyna smiled as he took it out to show them. The shorter wolf whilsted, he was impressed. "A fine blade indeed! But make sure you don't use it here. We gaurds don't take kindly to violence, youngster!" he warned Deyna. Deyna returned his dagger to it's sheath. "Don't worry, I won't. Could you tell me where I could find a place for the night? I've been walking all day!" "Sure. Go down that street there, turn to your right and you'll see Furry Haven. It's a bar, but you can rent rooms there too." the taller one said. "Thatnks a lot for the info. Have a good night now!" Deyna said as he walked into the city. "Same to you!" the gaurds said as they returned to their posts. Deyna took a look around as he walked, he had never seen a place like it. Where he had grown up, there were only six houses and they were all otter family's. Here there were massive buildings and all sorts of furs walking about. Some of them smiled at him as he walked, which he liked. Finally he reached Furry Haven. The bar looked quite big, there was music coming from within and Deyna could here laughter. A few furs were outside of it, all of them talking save for two males, a fox and a wolf who were kissing each other passionelty. Deyna smiled as he looked at them, wondering if he'd be lucky enough to find someone he could do that with. The otter walked into the bar. It was pretty full, furs of all kinds were sat around tables on one side laughing and drinking, on the other was a dancefloor where some furs were dancing, a jukebox in the corner playing songs. Deyna walked up to the bar where the barkeep, a tall fox was. "Excuse me?" Deyna asked. The fox turned around. "Hey there, not seen you around before. What'll you have?" the fox asked cheerfully. "Actually, I was told you have rooms available here." Deyna said as he looked around. "Ah, that's right we do. And there is one going if you want it. It's 20 Lyan's a night." he replied. Deyna took out twenty Lyan from the money he had taken from the bandits. The fox took it and handed Deyna a silver key, with the number four on it. "The rooms up the stairs, third door on the right. Go up whenever you want, the walls are soundproof so you won't be able to hear any of this lot!" he said smiling. Deyna nodded and smiled back, taking a look around the bar. He had never seen so many furs in one place. Some of them, he thought were pretty cute too. He shook himself free of that thought. He had to focus on finding Xander Dew. "So, what brings an otter like yourself to Elendor?" the barkeep asked. Deyna turned back to the fox. "I'm looking for someone called Xander Dew. My mother said I could find him here." The fox nodded. "Ah, yeah I know Xander, not well mind you, but I know him. Bit of an odd fellow if you ask me, but still, nice enough. You can find him in Paw street, head right when you leave here and follow the street, you'll see the sign for it. It's the antique shop there, it's his business. He's always there." Deyna smiled and stood. "Thanks for the information. I'm gonna head off to my room I think, been walking all day." "Ok then, have a good sleep." the fox called out as Deyna headed up the stairs. Deyna smiled a little again as he saw the fox and the wolf who were kissing outside earlier, both heading into a room, the fox pulling the wolf into it by his shirt and then closing the door. He found room number four and put the key into the lock. Turning it, he opened the door and stepped inside. The room itself was quite nice. There was a large double bed with dark blue sheets on it and big fluffy pillows. A wardrobe was set in one corner, thick curtains at the window. The otter walked to the window and looked outside. He could see the street, it was empty now. The barkeep was also right about the rooms being soundproof, Deyna couldn't hear a thing from the bar below, or from the room where the two furs were. Deyna lay down on the bed, stretching a little. He was feeling tired, he slid his sheathed dagger from hos waist and held it in his paw as he slowly drifted off to sleep. Despite the door being locked, he would take no chances, if anyone wanted to attack him in his sleep, he would be ready for them. Sunlight was shining through the window when Deyna awoke, the otter feeling retsed and refreshed. Stretching, he sat up on the bed, rubbing at his eyes a little. Today would be the day he found out just why his mother had told him about Xander Dew. Standing slowly, he returned his dagger to his belt and headed to the bar downstairs. "Good morning there young otter, you have a good sleep?" the fox barkeep said as Deyna entered the bar. "Very nice, thanks" said Deyna, handing the key back. The fox took it and smiled. "Want a drink or something to eat before you head out?" Deyna sat at the bar. "Hmmmmmmmmm...glass of water would be great, and if you have any fish for breakfast I'd love some!" "Sure thing, water and fish coming right up!" Deyna smiled as the fox went out to the back to get what Deyna asked for. Deyna took another look around the bar. It was empty, save for himself and two others, two female wolves. As Deyna pulled out his wallet to pay for his breakfast, he could hear the wolves talking. "Did you hear about what happened at Lunatera?" "You mean about the attack from Colva? Yeah I heard about that, can't believe it mysef!" "It shouldn't affect us though right? I mean, Elendor is an ally of Colva." "Yeah, we should be ok, though I don't understand why they attacked Lunatera." The barkeep returned with Deyna's breakfast. Deyna handed over the Lyan to pay for it. "So what's this about Lunatera getting attacked?" Deyna asked. The barkeep's face was grim. "Not sure of all the details myself, but from what i here, apparently Lunatera was plotting against Colva. Don't believe that myself though, everyone knows Lunatera is a peaceful place, they would never do anything like that. But anyway, seems Colva decided to take initiative and attack, Lunatera is under Colva's control now. The Lunaterians didn't stand a chance against an army that big." Deyna was eating his fish as he listened, nodding thoughtfully. "Were the Lunaterians alright?" "I can't say. Anyone who wasn't killed was either captured or escaped. Thing is, my brother was living there. I hope he's alright." Deyna nodded as he finished his breakfast. "I'm sure he's fine, I can't see Colva killing civilains. Thank you for the breakfast, I have to go now." The fox nodded. "Off to see Xander eh? You remember where he lives?" "In Paw Street right? The antique shop?" "Thats the one. Take care now!" Deyna left the bar and started walking towards Paw street. The streets were full of various furs, all going about thier daily business. Deyna wished he had more eyes to take everything in, there were so many shops around, some stalls set up here and there selling various things, younger furs running around and thier parents chasing them. Making his way through the crowd, Deyna spotted the sign for Paw Street. He turned the corner and found himself in a side street, much less crowded than the main street he was just in. A few furs gave him curious stares as he walked passed, the way he was dressed and the dagger at his side showed easily that he wasn't a local. Finally, the otter found the antique shop. It was a small place, looking out of place in between a weapons shop and a butchers. The peeling writing above the entrance read "Xander's Antiques" and in the window were various items, all of which looked incredibly old but in excellent condition. Putting a paw against his dagger, Deyna walked up to the door slowly. It was time to find out who Xander was.
