The trees thinned out to reveal a beautiful streambank, enclosed and quiet save for the cool running water. Various flowers grew all around, vivid colours of reds and yellows. The two friends stood still for a moment, admiring the beauty around them, the mouse bending down to sniff a flower as the otter walked to the streambank. Deyna sat at the edge of the stream, cupping his hands together he scooped up some water and drank, then smiled, leaning down and dunking his head underwater to cool himself off, his eyes closed.\nZell smiled watching his friend, the two had been friends for years, they had met in an old abandoned farmhouse of all places! That night, a vicious storm was raging, Deyna was near the farmhouse when it fully began, and had ran in for shelter when he discovered the mouse, shivering and hungry, a runaway from home. Deyna split what little rations he had with Zell and they talked almost all night. Since then, they had travelled together, always inseperable. Deep down though, Zell had stronger feelings than friendship for the otter. Over the months they had travelled, he had fallen in love with him. The otter really did love fish.\n\"Hahaha, sure, I can see a spot we can light one, I'll go see if I can get some firewood, you go and catch us some fish.\"\nDeyna smiled happily, swishing his thick tail slightly. \"I'll be sure to catch you a really tasty one! Be back soon mate.\"\nDeyna took a few steps back then stretched before taking a leap into the stream, barely making a splash as his sleek thin body entered the water. Zell looked at the spot in the stream where the otter went under and smiled to himself, heading off into the woods to get the firewood they needed.\nIn the cool water of the stream, Deyna was in his element. His bright green eyes were accustomed to being underwater, his webbed hands and feet and thick rudder like tail made moving through the water effortless. He swam towards where he knew the fish were, doing a few loops in the water just for fun before stopping. Grinning to himself, he saw a nice fish swimming near the stream bed.\n\"Perfect for Zell\" he thought to himself as he darted forward like a speeding bullet. The fish didnt have a chance, the otter quickly grabbed it in his mouth before swimming up fast, diving out of the water gracefully he threw the fish onto the bank from his mouth before slipping back underwater.\n\"Hmph! He walked to it, whislting as he saw the size of it as he picked it up and took it back to the fire, putting it out on a flat piece of stone. Deyna looked over at him as he ate, a little worry in his mind about his silent companion. Over the past few weeks, he had noticed the mouse had been drifting off into his thoughs a lot and seemed to be getting a lot more shy around the otter when it came to certain subjects, like the one they had in the forest about the village they had visited.
