Or at least, the billions of dogs who witnessed the event wished it only [i]had[/i] been. It blotted out the sun like an eclipse, with multiple rows of teeth as well as a countless number of black, cavernous pores covering the entirety of its spherical body. Its unsettling eldritch visage would carve itself deep into the subconscious minds of all who looked upon it. No one knew what it was, or why it was here. But even so, everyone seemed to understand one thing:\n This was the end of the world. \n In a certain cul-de-sac in Brisbane, Australia, only one dog recognized this foreboding monster. Bandit Heeler, who had seen this terrifying dark being before in his dream, assumed that its appearance was all [i]his[/i] doing - a manifestation of his inner demons, perhaps, for the unforgivable sins he’d committed against his daughter. Or maybe he’d actually died in his sleep from another heart attack, and his soul had been damned to Hell. \n But in truth, neither was the case at all.\n The odds of any random event such as this may seem impossibly low, but it is [i]never[/i] zero. And in this case, this would happen to be the chance moment that Bandit’s story would cross paths with another yet untold; because in actuality, this creature was [i]not[/i] from Bandit’s dreams, but rather from another universe [i]entirely.[/i] \n Things would only get stranger as a triangular portal of pure green plasma appeared in the middle of the cul-de-sac, and a strange-looking alien with brown hair and clad in a suit of red and orange armor stepped out from it. To Bandit, and to all the other dogs on Red Hill Court who witnessed him, he appeared to be like an ape of some kind. However, he was actually something that they did not have a name for, because it did not exist in this world - ‘human’.\n He silently looked over at the blue and orange dogs on the porch who were staring at him in awe and confusion. \n [i]‘Just dogs here, huh? Very… rectangular. Not exactly the [/i][i]weirdest[/i][i] thing I’ve seen today, though,’[/i] he thought, turning his attention up to his target in the sky as he pulled out a golden broadsword, which crackled with green lightning. [i]‘If I can’t stop it here… [/i][b][i]everything[/i][/b][i] will end. But every story has an ending…’[/i]\n His emerald eyes began to glow intensely as an orange mask formed piece by piece over Marcus Colburn’s face.\n\n ”...So let's rewrite this one.\"\n\n [b][i]“WRAaAaAaAH!!!”[/i][/b]\n\n Students began screaming and fleeing in fear as the Night Terror roared with an ear-shattering screech. Adding to the chaos, one of the students set off the fire alarm as they exited, and the whole gymnasium was flooded by blinding strobe lights and a loud blaring siren as even more Night Terrors began to emerge.\n “Everyone run! Get outta here!” Cobalt shouted to the few dogs around him who were still petrified in shock, snapping them out of it long enough to head for the exit. He turned back to face the Night Terror standing before him, who was already swinging its clawed hand across with deadly force.\n “Cobalt!” Sapphire screamed as she reached forward and tightly grabbed the back of her brother’s scruff, yanking him back just in time to avoid Cobalt’s skull being fatally skewered. However, Cobalt wasn’t left completely unscathed as a thin line of blood began trickling down his left cheek, the Night Terror having barely managed to slice a small gash just under his eye.\n “Thanks, Sapph,” Cobalt hissed in pain, the blood soaking into the fur on his fingertips as he touched it. “But you need to go, too. Get somewhere safe.”\n “What about [i]you?!”[/i] Sapphire asked, “What even are these things? And who is [i]he?!”[/i]\n “There’s no time to explain!” Biscuit interrupted as he stepped in, trying his best to ward the Night Terrors by blocking their path.\n “Sapphire, just GO!” Cobalt commanded firmly.\n [i]“NO!”[/i] Sapphire refused, shaking her head defiantly as she grabbed his wrist. “I [i][b]love[/b][/i] you, Cobalt! I’m staying by your side, no matter what! If you die, [i]I[/i] die!”\n “...Tch, dammit…” Cobalt groaned under his breath in frustration, knowing that there was nothing he could do to change her mind. “I love you too, Sapphire.”\n “So what was your plan, exactly?” Sapphire pressed herself closer to Cobalt as they were being surrounded on all sides. Even if they wanted to escape, it was quickly becoming too late now to do so.\n “I… I don’t know…” Cobalt said, truly at a loss as to how they could stop this. “...Biscuit?”\n [i]“Use your imagination!”[/i] Biscuit growled, backing up slowly to them as the Night Terrors were getting progressively more brave.\n “I have no idea how to fight off these things!” Cobalt said, holding Sapphire close. “Besides, you know way more about these things than I do, don’t they have some kind of weakness?!”\n “No, I mean [i]literally[/i] use your imagination!” Biscuit shouted, “You’ve fought and killed these things easily in your daydreams before, remember?! Look around you! We’re [i]living in a dream!”[/i]\n The bubble of space around them was still frantically glitching back and forth between the dream world and the physical world as it grew exponentially bigger and soon enveloped the entire school, with Cobalt, Sapphire, Biscuit, and the Night Terrors caught in-between.\n “And in your dreams, you can do ANYTHING!”\n When the revelation occurred to Cobalt, he felt a strong tingle up his spine as he embraced his own self-indulgent hero fantasies, and a suit of red and orange armor began forging itself around him from his feet to his neck. Sapphire focused as well, her butterfly dress transforming into a similar but stronger orange and black leather archer’s outfit, complete with a bow and quiver with an endless supply of arrows. \n “...What?             “Sapphire, just GO!” Cobalt commanded firmly.
            “NO!” Sapphire refused, shaking her head defiantly as she grabbed his wrist. “I love you, Cobalt! I’m staying by your side, no matter what! If you die, I die!”

            Meanwhile, Biscuit raised his palms out, which emitted an ethereal tulpa magic. A golden broadsword formed in Cobalt’s open hand, and he held it up at the Night Terrors with a snarl, baring his teeth at the monsters.
            “You may be Night Terrors… but we’re your worst nightmare.”
            “...That was so fuckin’ cringe, Cobalt,” Biscuit scoffed with a dismissive roll of his eyes. “Hey, it’s not every day I get to use a cool catchphrase like that,” Cobalt smirked sheepishly.
            “For the record, I thought it sounded very cool,” Sapphire whispered supportively.
            “Thank you, Sapph,” he replied.
            “Now’s not the time for all that!” Biscuit growled, “Let’s fuckin’ kill these things!”
            “Aaaaghhh!”
            They all braced themselves as the formidable Night Terrors charged at them, fighting together as one. Sapphire quickly shot arrows at the Night Terrors closest to her, and with each direct hit, the arrowheads formed a miniature black hole that spaghettified their victims inside before dissipating.             “There could be… billions…” Biscuit winced as he took a knee, starting to feel tired as well. “One for everyone who saw… thing.”
            “BILLIONS?!” Cobalt and Sapphire said in unison.
            “We can’t do this… forever…” said Cobalt with heavy breaths, his muscles beginning to cramp as he swung his sword through several more Night Terrors. “Isn’t there any way… to stop this?! Even if we somehow killed them all, the world’s still fucked!”
            The sphere around them was now engulfing the entire neighborhood, and before long the entire world would be trapped in an eternal nightmare. Biscuit was about to say something when the roof of the gymnasium was suddenly torn off by a powerful wind, inhaled by a familiar dark entity in the cap of the sphere.
            “No…” Biscuit shuddered as a dream-memory of the Waking Nightmare appeared in the sky above them, its gaping maw absorbing everything like a black hole. Even the Night Terrors themselves were not immune, as they began floating up into the sky and into the being’s mouth.

            Meanwhile, outside the school, Bandit, Chilli, and Bluey arrived at the scene, which was surrounded by dozens of fire trucks and police cars blocking off the ever-growing area. They looked around frantically for any sign of Cobalt and Sapphire in the crowd of evacuated students, but they were nowhere to be found in the crowd.
            “Let me through, my kids are in there!” Bandit shouted in a panic as he tried to get past one of the firefighters.
            “Sorry sir, this area’s quarantined. We can’t allow anyone past this point-”
“I WASN’T ASKING!” Bandit growled before shoving the firefighter aside and sprinting through, followed closely by Bluey. Chilli chose to stay behind, continuing to look for Cobalt and Sapphire in case they’d made it out.

            Back within the school, the three survivors suddenly heard a loud banging on the main door before a big blue heeler burst through.
            “Cobalt! Sapphire! Are you kids here?!” Bandit shouted as he entered with Bluey through the main door. They crouched down low as they felt a powerful wind trying to suck them up into the sky, holding onto each other's hands. Much to their relief, Cobalt and Sapphire were indeed here and relatively unharmed in the center of the gymnasium, though they were struggling to remain grounded. It was then that Bandit and Bluey’s attention turned to a familiar but unexpected face who was with them.
