Leon was an environmentalist working with specialised breeding program for endangered species in the wild. The program were trying to encourage population growth of the endangered species in their own natural habitats.

While working in a remote African savannah with the endangered lions there he spotted some reflected light from a strange glass orb hidden in the tundra. Wondering what it could be that was so out of place in this remote area he picked it up, the orb glowed and floated out of his hands and into his chest, transforming him into something new.
