Gaaaaaaaaah! Dante should have known better than to explore creepy old houses in small towns with a bad smell. And something Dante smelled was a bit worse than just the the Derry Air breeze. >__> No pun intended for sure! But something about that house had a bad smell, not quite like blood, or death, or even smoke, but something just a moment past fear, that made him want to run out. But of course he didn't - because it was raining in buckets outside and he needed someplace nice to dry off. He'd just stripped down, naked, letting his clothes dry on a coat rack, when he heard the first creaks above, that seemed to vanish with a whisper into insulation of the walls, down through the foundations and into the sewers below. Echoing, echoing, echoing as if the pipes went down forever. Dante became so entranced on the sound that he lost track of his surroundings, until a solitary flash of lightning and the peel of thunder left a long dark shadow from a looming figure in the doorway, the smell of stale popcorn and peanut casings swirling ominously through the unsettled dust.
