Not driven by the ample pay of the palace guards or the honorable duity of protecting the Princess of the Night. No, he did this out of something much more powerful.\n\nShe returned her eyes to the other guard.\n\n\"Notify the other guards that the night is over and that Celestia is free to bring about the day.\" With a simple nod and a bow, he trotted down the halls. She looked firmly at his slightly flushing expression before a soft smile crossed her lips.\n\n\"Very well, you are pardoned.\" She said and the guard let out a soft sigh as he looked at her. \"However, I noticed you followed me directly into my bed chamber without first asking me.\" she said in a more simple fact tone as opposed to an accusation.\n\nThe guard looked around himself, spying the darkened room and the supple bed that the princess was standing next to, embarrassment flooding his body as he noted that he was quite far away from her chamber doors.\n\n\"F-forgive me! A momentary lapse in attention. It will never happen again.\" he pleaded as he kept his head bowed and began backing towards the door, before there was the chime of magic and the doors to her room slammed shut and locked with a clicking sound. \n\nThe guard swallowed hard; while Luna was beautiful, she also was horribly terrifying if she chose to be. Tales of Nightmare Moon's horribly wicked ways, stretched beyond fact, had been ingraned into his mind ever since he was a foal and to displease the Princess of the night was to risk bringing that very horror down upon him.\n\n\"Guard.\" she said in a stern voice, making his head snap up and meet her piercing gaize. \"Tell me your name.\" he shivered enough that his armor rattled.\n\n\"C-Cobalt, your highness...\" he stammered.\n\n\"Cobalt.\" she echoed. \"Tell me, what was it that caused your lapse in attention?\" she asked, though the hint of terrible malace was gone from her voice as her tone seemed more like a soft councelling.\n\n\"It... It was nothing. Merely a moment of foolhardiness on my part.\" he said, though Luna's eyes narrowed a moment.\n\n\"I have been around for a very long time, and while I may have been absent, I am not blind nor unwitting.\" she said, stepping towards him. \"Something distracted you enough to no longer realize where you were. Perhaps you are having troubles at home?\" she suggested.\n\n\"No ma'm... I live on the palace grounds in a room to myself.\" he said, nervous of her growing proximity, but also calming slightly at her seemingly less angry attitude.\n\n\"By yourself you say.\" Luna said softly. \"No lucky mare in your life? No one to come home to?\" Cobalt nodded.\n\n\"My guard duities leave me too busy to seek a relationship, but that's a sacrifice that I willingly made in servitude to you.\" he said, straightening up, though Luna continued to eye him.\n\n\"What a bleak outlook. Obsessing over ones job so much that they lack the common comforts of life.\" she said.\n\n\"It's not that bad, I enjoy my work and am more then honored to spend time around you.\" he said.\n\n\"So you find me attractive?\" Luna stated bluntly and all at once ,Cobalt's composure faultered.\n\n\"Well NO! I mean... YES! I mean, I...
