Rick Arthur was born to a fairly wealthy family. His father, a Deinonychus, was the president of a rather exceedingly successful weather tracking and news company. His mother, a monitor lizard, was more of a stay home mother and despite their wealth, instilled a good degree of humble nature into Rick as he matured.
Rick soon entered the family business thanks to his father and had a great sociable personality and many found no issues when he ordered something done as it came off more as a friend simply asking for a favor, and in many cases, it was.
This viewpoint was not shared by everyone in the company. In his rise in power, Rick had bypassed many other ranks and positions due to his father running the company. One such employee, angry at the time he'd spent in the company without promotion, decided he'd quit, but not before he got a kickback.
Rick was simply walking home one day, dressed in more casual attire that afforded him more anonymity. Most folks didn't associate the "rich son of the company president" with what looked to be some everyday person. This employee, however, worked with him and was waiting for him, pulling the young hybrid off the street and holding him at gunpoint with a shotgun. The gunman wanted enough funds to coast through life, but Rick told him that he only needed to talk to him and Rick would see about getting the guy the proper promotion due to his pull in the company, but that wasn't good enough. The more they argued, the more it seemed that the guy would be better off just shooting Rick and taking what he had on him. Thinking fast, Rick grabbed the gun with his right hand, pushing it away from his chest just as the gunman pulled the trigger. The deafening sound of a point blank shotgun blast numbed Rick and he followed up with a quick swing of his left hand, gouging out the eyes of his attacker with his claws. His attacker, now on the ground and clutching his bleeding face, Rick saw his father in a car just happening to pull up. Rick saw him frantically dialing on his cell phone as he ran up to his son, but Rick couldn't seem to make out what he was saying, but his Father prompted him to slowly sit down in the ally before his father ripped the arm sleeve off of his tuxedo and tied it tightly around Rick's forearm. Rick didn't know why until he looked down and saw that he was pooling blood on the ground and most of his right hand was simply missing, only the thumb was still there, connected by strings if skin and nothing else.
THEN, the pain came and he could hear the world again.
Despite their finances, Rick's hand was too far damaged for them to recover any of his fingers, much less his palm, so he opted to have the damaged material removed. However, he was still clever and decided to have a sort of socket placed at about his wrist that he could interchange prosthetic tools with. He commonly wears the simple gray covering with the rounded end, but as time went on, and due to the fact that he was stubbornly right handed, had a fork made, even a simple grabbing tool that worked via responses to how her moved his arm muscles.
However, as his father would not approve of him showing up in public with such a gratuitous disfigurement, Rick opted for something to showcase his wealth and power in the company. Made out of near 24 karat gold and embedded with a large ruby, he had a replica of his hand made and wears it to all official business meetings and get-togethers. He eventually had a stainless steel hand made as well, this one adorned with a purple paint job and green tinted claws, but used for more casual situations.
Now 30 and single, Rick has been a bit on the prowl for love. He's had a fair few dates and a few intimate encounters, his right handedness prompting him to order a special attachment to better excite and please his partners. However, most encounters are people looking to get in on his money, thinking they will become famous, or only interested in the bragging rights of having had a one night stand with the son of the company.
It certainly isn't for lack of trying.
Rick, sadly, does suffer some issues due to his hybrid nature. His eyes are fully red, including the sclera, and while this doesn't harm him, it makes him sensitive to bright days and bright light can give him a headache. He also has a slightly abnormally high body temperature and overheats exceedingly easy. Being too warm can make him irritable and will remove his normally high libido.
Still, even despite his past, he's kind and polite to whomever he meets.
However, he's gained a bit of a nickname for himself, after folks heard about how he was numb to the shotgun shot and fought back, he started being nicknamed "Thunder" by his workmates. He never calls himself that, but he doesn't find any offense in it.
