That same day he went and started stealing again, bread from the market. That was easy enough, nobody would notice a loaf being pawed away in the crowd, and nobody would suspect a pup eating some bread either. It was nice to sleep with a full belly, even if it was in the streets. Tomorrow was the same and the next day as well... but soon his appetite grew. Nobody was noticing what he was doing, surely he was just thinking too small... next day he went and snagged some sausages.
He waited patiently and then his paw grabbed them when the cook wasn't looking, and by the time he heard the man yell thief thief, he was already running away into the side alleys. Oh how sweet was the taste of victory. Finally he felt like he was on the right track. Fuck them all, he should had done this way sooner.
Day after day he got back into his old self. Sometimes it would be bread, sometimes a pie that was unwatched, sometimes the jerky from the local butcher... Then one day, he smelled it before he saw it. A nice slab of meat roasting on a stick... it was the local butcher, someone ordered it a while ago and the man was too busy dealing with serving other customers... nobody was looking at it... he licked his lips.... he could go for it!
He slithered past the stall. The butcher was facing the other direction busy with his work... the prize was Cybers to take... He got to the oven and got up on his toes to reach for the meat that was just there, waiting for him... and then his paw touched the hot stone... only for a split second too.
A piercing yelp alerted everyone. By the time Cyber realized what he has done the butcher was already facing him and shouting for guards. "Thief! Grab the mutt!" Cyber would hear him shout as he tried to escape, but it was too late. A hand grabbed him by the shoulder and before he knew it he was on the ground. "I recognize that fur, the mutt has stolen from me before!" he could hear as he trashed to no avail.
He was dragged to the square and lost his only possession as the guard stripped him of his shirt and started tying him up to a pole that was apparently there for these kind of occasions. He fought with all he could, barking and sending insults to the guard "Let me the fuck go you fucker! Gimme back my shirt! Fuck you! I didn't steal anything! Let me go! I am gonna fucking murder you in your sleep! Fuck you asshole, your mother's a whore! Let me go! I didn't do anything! I am gonna fuckin' kill you!". He barked and barked... tried to bite the guard too but eventually he found himself completely bound unable to move, no matter how much he struggled.
His barking continued until his eye saw a glimpse of something and then suddenly he was silent. Suddenly he could hear the shouts and laughter of the crowd mixed in with his own heartbeat. "W-WAI---"
Cyber yelped in fear even before the whip cracked across his helpless body. The crack of the whip mixed in with the cheers of the crowd, but the pup couldn't hear any of that. Crack after crack he felt the iron hot lines spread across hhis body that wished him he would die on the spot. He tried to plead to stop, to admit that he did it, but he couldn't. Whenever he tried only parts of the words came out, muffled, before the next crack forced him to recoil in pain, and by the forth one he was already trying not to suffocate on his own snot....
There were many more to come, and by the end the guard was sure that the filthy animal would never even think of stealing from them ever again.
