It was not fear that made him tired though, it was the work he had to do for his masters. Yesterday was particularly demanding. Fifty warriors that drank and sang deep into the night, all demanding ale and a thrall to serve them. He always had trouble staying so late at night but tonight his master didn't let him go to his quarters. He was to serve and sing and dance for everyone until the sun rose back up. Of course he had to do more for his master, spread his legs and give him relief he so much deserved.
Once the sun rose up though instead of being able to fall asleep beside his masters bed he was taken to the docks. Sold to a merchant. It made him feel anxious, scared. He felt the same way when the Jarl gave him away to one of the warriors. It happened several times, being traded among the vikings, for favors, weapons, bets... This was different though, he was sold to someone who will take him away.
His body wanted rest though, and soon he found himself dreaming. He could feel that his dreams changed but he couldn't tell in what way. He mostly dreamed of daily life, things he had to do, how he had to behave. Sometimes he dreamed about his masters, the battles they fought and adventurers they had, he heard more than enough of them while serving ale. It wasn't uncommon for him to dream of his master taking him. He remembered being ashamed of those dreams, now he just thought that they were normal.
On a rare occasion his dreams were filled with the forests of his old home, days of endless running and pretending. He couldn't remember what he wanted back then when he played with a stick in the dirt, it all seemed so distant and dreamlike like it never was real. Those dreams would always end the same way though, with him looking at the strange ships that came, filled with men in strange clothing. He dreamed of that now, of how he was being taken away from a place he knew, into the unknown.
