  "description": "While converting some document files to something that could be read by OpenOffice, I ran across a trio of ballads I'd written almost a decade ago, and decided to post them.\n\nFor [url=nanowrimo.org]NaNoWriMo[/url] 2004, I started the very first story centered around Baksrit Winterfur, not surprisingly titled [i]Winterfur[/i].  As I tried to find a voice for the story, I wanted there to be a sense of a world beyond Baksrit and her adventures.  One idea was taking a cue from the [i]Redwall[/i] series of using songs for that purpose.  However, unlike Brian Jacque's characters, mine weren't terribly inclined to burst out into song or poetry at the drop of a hat, and I hardly count as a very good poet or songwriter, so only three got wedged in and could be removed since they serve little purpose in the story beyond random worldbuilding.\n\nThis is the first one of the three I managed to squeeze in, sung by a wildcat or a bluebird street musician (I don't know who sung it, but I suspect it was the bluebird) in the first chapter, a romantic ballad called \"Flitter Me By\".\n\nTo be continued in [smallthumb]716138[/smallthumb] and [smallthumb]716139[/smallthumb].\n\n_________________\nBallad © 2004-2014 Marvin E.
