Previously on Galarian Days... Elle demonstrates her ability to manipulate Dynamax energy by turning off the Power Spot in Rose Tower, leaving her (undeterred) finalists unable to Dynamax. Meanwhile, the wolf (revealed to be named Zander) takes a coffee break at the Battle Cafe before he rides the train back to the Wild Area, reminiscing about how he got his fur color... - Zander had set up camp in the Rolling Fields, having just finished a plate of curry. "Mmm-mmm, that ought to tide me over until tomorrow," he said as he put out the fire and got into his tent, ready to curl up for a nap. "All those items I found, and I couldn't catch one lousy Pokemon," he lamented. "Now how am I going to train for the Gym Challenge, let alone get Zacian and/or Zamazenta back from the Champion?" He yawned and added drowsily, "Guess I can't blame them for not wanting to join someone who looks like a football fan's brain fart..." as he let the caffeine crash from his mocha take him away to the dream world... Zander was standing in an empty, gray void, and his clothes were gone completely. (though one of the perks of being an anthro wolf was that he was covered with fur, so he wasn't completely naked) He walked around, looking for anything other than himself as he wondered to himself, "Where am I?" Suddenly, two small, colored lights appeared in front of him, then started growing and shining brighter until they took the forms of the two Pokemon he "met" back in the Slumbering Weald. "Zacian? Zamazenta? Is it really you two, or am I talking to fog holograms again?" Zander asked. "No, it is us," Zacian said in a woman's voice, "though not entirely." "We are simply communicating to you through your dreams," Zamazenta said in a masculine voice, "because we are now under the ownership of the Champion of Galar and their best friend." "Yes, that last part I understand, Zamazenta," Zander confirmed. "But what you don't know is that we chose to join those trainers," Zamazenta explained, "because not only did they help us stop the Darkest Day again, but also rescue us from losing ourselves to imposters under false identities." "Yes, but right now, Galar is about to face another crisis," Zacian added, "and we have chosen you to resolve it in our stead... as the Wolfen Knight of Galar." "Me?" Zander asked in mild surprise. "But... why choose me?" "As you remember back in the Slumbering Weald, we possess the power to create illusions of ourselves in its fog," Zacian explained. "But when you found that out and called our bluff, you demonstrated a straightforward attitude that cannot be swayed," Zamazenta continued, "and so we marked you with the royal colors, choosing you to become the Wolfen Knight of Galar." "So that explains the two-tone fur I have now," Zander said as he looked himself over. "Indeed," Zacian confirmed. "Those are the royal colors; a mark of proof that a person of Galar is brave, honest and true." "And those are qualities that are needed in this crisis," Zamazenta added. "What crisis is that, exactly?" Zander asked curiously. "Simply put, a person in a position of high power is attempting to put an end to the Darkest Day entirely," Zacian explained, "but may cause a different problem in their attempts to do so." "We have faith in you, Zander," Zamazenta encouraged. "You can stop them." "But how?" Zander asked. "You must go to the Isle of Armor," Zamazenta started. "There you wil find the previous previous champion, Mustard. He will provide you with a written endorsement, which will allow you to take on the Gym Challenge and face the current Gym Leaders." "When you have defeated those Gym Leaders and collected all 8 badges as proof of your victory against them, you must return to Wyndon Stadium, but as a Challenger," Zacian continued. "And when you do, it is very important that you-" "Very, VERY important," Zamazenta cut in. "Thank you very much, brother," Zacian said in mild annoyance. "As I was saying, it is very important that you-" "I'm sorry I interrupted, dear sister," Zamazenta apologized. "I just wanted to let Zander know how very, very important this is." "Zander," both said in unison, "it is very, very important that you-" "Get out of this tent!" - Zander was woken up by a twinge in his bladder, telling him that the mocha finally wanted back out. "Gahk! Right when I was about to find out what it was I have to do in Wyndon that's so very, very important!" he shouted to himself as he crossed his legs, but he was already about to pop! "Grr.. hab with it, I don't give anything who sees, the seal's about to break!" He hurriedly undid his jeans, unzipped the tent open and shoved his pants and undies down mid-thigh, but looked up to find that it was raining buckets outside with the grass growing out of control. As if to cue his shock, the flow of urine shot out of his sheath and landed in the swampy landscape in front of him, only to be quickly washed away by the rain. The feeling of relief coursed through his body as he sighed with his tongue lolling out, allowing his bladder to drain into the deluge for one minute solid. Finally, the last few dribbles dripped off of Zander's sheath, and he wiggled it dry before making himself decent again. "Whew, that was a close call! Thank the legendaries no one was around," he said to himself as he zipped back up. "Note to self: plan out a bathroom route to avoid future embarrassment." He then heard two loud noises that overlapped each other: a low moaning and a gurgling screech. "What the!? Where did that come from!?" Zander got out of the tent in the middle of the rain and saw the source of the noises: two giant monsters that didn't seem to be Pokemon at all! On his left was a giant, green sloth-like monster with large mushrooms growing all over its body, spitting out large seeds that made more mushrooms grow and burst into blades of grass! On his right was a giant, blue fish-man monster that was constantly sopping wet, blasting massive torrents of water from its mouth that made the rain come down harder each time! "So this must be part of the crisis Zacian and Zamazenta were talking about!" Zander said. "But what am I supposed to do about them!?" Indeed, even the wild Pokemon tried to fend off the gigantic attackers, but to no avail. Zander looked around for something to defend himself with, but all he could find was a spoon and a plate someone left behind, possibly from eating curry. "Guess this'll have to do," he supposed as he reached down to pick up the dishes. But as he touched them, something strange started to happen... The spoon became enveloped in cyan light as the metal stretched and flattened itself out, the scoop becoming more pointed at the end while the handle grew a metal bar on each side. Meanwhile, the plate was bathed in magenta light as it started spreading itself out and hardening, losing its circular, round shape and taking on a more pentagonal form. As two blades of grass blew onto the transforming plate, they merged with it and became sturdy straps of leather. Finally, the light from the discarded curry dishes faded, and Zander found himself armed with his own personal sword and shield! "Whoa! How did I do that!?" Zander exclaimed in surprise. "Could this be the power of the royal colors?" But another low moan and gurgling screech snapped him out of his thoughts. "Reality questioning later, giant monster ending now!" Deciding to go for the green sloth first, he rushed as quickly as he could down the path and made it to the Watchtower Ruins where the monster was. "Hey! Mold-wad!" Zander shouted, getting the monster's attention. "Why don't you spit on someone your own size!?" The provoked sloth responded by spitting more seeds at Zander, forcing him to raise his new shield up in defense. A magenta light was emitted from the shield and spread out around Zander, creating a force-field that vaporized the seeds on contact. "Wow! These new weapons are just full of surprises," he said as the force field went back down. "Now let's see how I do on the offensive!" Before the sloth could gear up for another attack, Zander raised his new sword. A cyan light shone from it and elongated the blade, and Zander jumped up and swung it at the sloth. Multiple slashes hit the monster as it moaned out in pain until it exploded into a massive cloud of green dust! "Yes! Bust him wide open!" Zander shouted, but while the grass levels were returning to normal, the downpour of rain was still going on. "Now I just have to turn off the shower here!" He then rushed to the Giant's Seat, where the blue fish-man was still around. "Don't you know it's rude to waste water like that!?" The monster responded with another blast of water, but this time Zander was prepared. He raised his shield again and re-activated the force field, but while the torrent was being vaporized, the monster kept it coming with no stopping. "Boy, is this one a tough customer," Zander said, but then he had an idea. With the force field still up, he leaped towards the fish-man and slammed the field into it. The monster was crushed into the rock spire and screeched in pain until it exploded into a massive cloud of blue dust! With the onslaught finally over, Zander let the shield down and the force field turn off just as the rains finally subsided. With everything back to normal, Zander's sword and shield started glowing again, then faded away until they disappeared altogether. At that moment, the poor wolf's mind was a tangle of questions, but then he remembered that he had somewhere to be. He had to get to the Isle of Armor and get his endorsement so he could participate in the Gym Challenge... but how would he get there? - Meanwhile, a Flying Taxi was soaring through the Galarian skies, and inside the cab was none other than Elle and Turner. "Lovely. Simply lovely," Elle said. "My first two test runs have been a rousing success!" "Indeed, miss Elle," Turner said. "But if I may ask, what exactly was the point of the test?" "Were you not there when it happened, Turner?" Elle said as she held up a mauve crystal shaped like a perfume bottle with her dress-shaped key inserted in the top. "It was to call out that wolf-boy that was hiding out in the noseebleed section of Wyndon Stadium. Oh, he thought he could hide from my eyes, but his wild fur stuck out like a sore thumb!" "Well, miss Elle, my sources have just informed me that he is planning to participate in the Gym Challenge this year," Turner informed. "Shall I send a message to blacklist-" "No," Elle interrupted. "Let him come." "Very well, miss Elle," Turner conceded. As the green and blue clouds of dust drifted through the breeze, Elle said to herself, "That wolf may not know it, but he's about to play a part in my grand master plan.
