  "writing": "Prologue\n\nAbove,the ocean was beautiful and calm,but under was a raging war between merhogs and mersharks,a violet female wearing five earrings and carrying three bracelets in one hand and a small,blue,sleeping pup in her arm swam to find a safe place to hind the pup. Once she thought she was safe,she placed the pup in some rocks where it wouldn't be found,she'd removed her five earrings and gave it to the pup along with the bracelets,although one was a necklace.\n\nThe pup opened his eyes only to see his mother leaving him,followed by mersharks,from that day on,he knew he was alone.\n\nChapter one\n\nTo Sea a merhog\n\nThirteen years later.\n\nA merhog rested on a rock jutting out of the water,a distant look on his face as memories swirled through his mind,this merhog was large and had a scar over one of his eyes,he wore three earrings on his left ear and another other two on the right side of his tail.\n\nMany people have fathomed of see such a creature,but this blue merhog was known by many names such as,the Guardian Of The Sea,Destroyer Of Ships,The Blue Death,and many more. Many have tried to capture and or tame him,but all have failed due to the merhog wanting to stay hidden.\n\nElsewhere\n\nA black hedgehog with red streaks on his arms,legs,and in his quills,was talking to a bat,and another hedgehog who was green with fire tattoos on his arms with two scars across his chest, where speaking together at the docks,''So,'' the black hedgehog said looking at the bat and green hedgehog,''You're looking for Blue Death too?'' he asked the other two.\n\n``I heard it had jewels Captain Shadow,and I want them.''The Bat said with a smile,''And what do you want with the Blue Death Scourge?''she turned towards the other hedgehog.\n\n\f``I want to make it my pet.'' Scourge responded before turning towards Shadow,''And you Shadow?''\n\nShadow closed his eyes,his arms crossed,''I just want to see if it's real,Mephiles and I are gonna search for it,and he's been going through the myths and legends about the merhogs and why they've disappeared.''Shadow finished before hearing a voice behind him and saw his friend.\n\nMephiles looked like Shadow,but had blue streaks in his quills and no streaks on his legs or arms,he also had green eyes,''Ready to go?'' Mephiles asked Shadow who nodded and got on their separate ships where their crew were waiting.\n\n``May the best `pirate' win.'' Shadow made quotes with his fingers when he said the word pirate as him and Mephiles sailed off.\n\n``You too!'' Rouge said waving goodbye to both the sailors before she got on her ship and left as well. Scourge stayed at the docks for a few extra moments before leaving as well. The captains had no idea that a pink hedgehog had been listening to what they've said.\n\n``I need to tell Sonic.''She said under her breath before running off.\n\nWith Sonic\n\nSonic sighed as he looked over the vast water before feeling his stomach growl for food.?I think it's time I go get something to eat. ?Sonic thought to himself.\n\nSonic swam off towards the docks where there was an alleyway that lead to the back of a restaurant,the water was dirty here and Sonic always cleaned it up and dumped the trash into an underwater volcano. After a few moments a pink hedgehog came out the back door,carrying food with her,''Sonic,it's nice to see you again.''She said as the merhog sat on the ground,his tail still in the water.\n\nAmy had found Sonic fighting a mershark and had lost a lot of blood and had washed up on land where Amy took him to her home,without being seen and helped him get better,Amy had saved his life,and Sonic thought of Amy as a mother he never had.\n\n``It's nice to see you too Amy.'' Sonic responded with a warm smile. The two continued to talk while Sonic finished eating. He was about to go off until he felt Amy's hand on his shoulder.\n\n``Be careful,''She said,''There are some sailors looking for you,''She said letting go of his shoulder.\n\n``Don't worry Amy,I'll be fine.'' He said before leaving to clean up the water and dump it in a underwater volcano.\n\n\f\n\nLater that day\n\n\fSonic laid on his back up against the same rock from before,he was hoping for a peaceful day and not have to worry about trying to be captured. From the front, Sonic looked like a normal hedgehog,but from the left,right,and behind you could clearly see the part where fur ended and where scales began.\n\nSonic closed his eyes to sleep,only to hear cannons a few moments later he heard another but closer, Sonic's eyes opened and saw a ship coming closer. Sonic growled as he saw a green hedgehog. He dived into the water heading towards the ship.\n\n``Where'd it go!'' Sonic heard one of them snap. Sonic stopped directly under the ship,on his left wrist was a bracelet which allowed him to call upon a sea creature to help aid or defend him,Sonic never liked putting sea creatures lives in danger,the bracelet was gold like the necklace her wore and the other bracelet which was on his right wrist,all three holding gems with power Sonic doesn't even know he has,he only understands the one on his left wrist,the gem was as blue as the sea and light up when Sonic used it.\n\n``Are you sure it was the Blue Death?'' Scourge asked one of his ship mates who said yes. Sonic started to swim again,but faster this time,using his powerful tail,he broke the bottom of the wooden ship and let a whale use its tail to guide the now sinking ship back to land.\n\n``Thank you my friend.''Sonic said placing his hands on the whale's side,the whale sang back before going back to where it was.\n\nWith Shadow and Mephiles\n\n``Knuckles,you know you'll lose this fight!''Mephiles said as both captains fought,swords swinging as their crew cheered them on as Shadow joined the fight.\n\n``Back down Captain Knuckles,it's two against one.'' Shadow said,pointing his sword at the enemy. Knuckles growled before backing down and went back to his on ship.\n\n``This won't be the last you see of me!''He shouted as he and his crew left.\n\n``Yeah! And it won't be the last time we kick your ass!''Shadow shouted back before giving Mephiles a high five,''We should keep looking.''Shadow said with a smile as one of his crew mates handed him a telescope and pointed to the left,''Is that Scourge's ship?'' Shadow asked with a slight frown,handing Mephiles the telescope.\n\n``You're right,it is!''Mephiles said in shock,the ship was still far from shore and it was still sinking into the ocean. Shadow changed the direction of his ship,as did Mephiles as they both headed towards Scourge's ship.\n\n``Help!'' Scourge yelled as he saw Shadow's and Mephile's ship heading towards them,waving his hands.\n\n\f\n\n``What happened?''Shadow asked,helping Scourge into a lifeboat.\n\n``The merhog is stronger than I thought,made a hole in the bottom of my ship!'' Scourge explained,''Then a whale came out of nowhere and used its tail to make a wave,''Scourge didn't want to explain the rest.\n\n``Well let's get you and your crew to land.''Mephiles said as all of Scourge's crew got onto both Shadow's and Mephiles's ships and sailed towards land.\n\n``There we were,looking for the Blue Death on the vast sea,we saw something blue on a rock and we could see its tail,''Scourge said dramatically as people heard that he and his crew saw the elusive merhog,''I told my crew to fire the cannons and then that merhog got off the rocks,I thought it sawm away only to feel my ship shaking beneath my feet,and I realized just then that the Blue Death just made a hole in the bottom of the ship and a wave pushed us towards land,but we didn't get far.'' People listened to Scourge story,fascinated that the hedgehog had seen the merhog.\n\n``So you're saying that this Blue Death attacked your ship?'' A voice from the back of the crowd said with bitterness in their voice.\n\n``Yep,pretty much.''Scourge responded to the voice.\n\n``Have you ever thought about what this merhog thinks when he was gonna be hit by cannons? Have you ever stopped to think about why he wears those jewels? And have you ever stopped to find out why he defends the oceans or why he wants to stay hidden?''The voice finished. Scourge was silent,not knowing what to say,''Hmph.''The voice said,''I'm outta here.''\n\nThat voice had been Sonic,he couldn't stay on land for long, so he had to hurry to get back to the sea.\n\nWith Sonic\n\nSonic stepped into the water,he never like land,nor did he want to stay on land for long. Sonic's tail replaced his legs as he went deeper into the water.\n\nSonic sawm towards the ruins of his home,now destroyed and in ruins. Sonic slowed down as a school of fish swam around him,as if warning him of the dangers ahead,''What is it?''He asked the school of fish,and the bracelet on his left wrist glowed.\n\n``There seems to be divers ahead,looking at what remains of the your Kingdom.''The school of fish said,still swimming around Sonic.\n\n\f``Thank you,''Sonic said,''But I'm going to have to prevent them from taking things from what remains.''Sonic said,using his powerful tail to propel him quickly forwards towards the ruined kingdom.\n\nAs the school of fish said, there were divers looking amongst the rubble. Sonic saw a Bat,getting close to where the throne room used to be, Sonic stopped,the necklace and bracelets shone brightly as Sonic rounded up all the divers into one big group.\n\n``What's going on?''Rouge yelled at something sawm around them,creating a whirlpool,making them all sick.\n\nSonic stopped swimming around the divers and went into the middle of the whirlpool,as a merhog,he had a special ability to create small whirlpools and tsunami,but if there are many merhogs working together,they can create large ones,but the size of the merhog determines the size of the said whirlpool and tsunami. Sonic is probably the largest of merhogs lengthwise. Sonic is this size because he was born with something called ` True Blood Of The Merhog' which made him stronger,faster,larger, and much more,than any other merhog.\n\n``You have disturbed my ancient home,''Sonic said in a booming voice that made him sound threatening and angry,''Leave now and I'll spare your lives.'' Sonic then left and the whirlpool stopped,leaving Rouge and her crew dizzy and sick to the stomach.\n\n``Let's get outta here!''One of the divers yelled seeing a pair of sharks(not mersharks) heading towards them. All of the other divers looked behind them before swimming franctly towards the surface as well.\n\n``You cowards!''Rouge said,not noticing the sharks as they got closer,when she turned around she realized why they swam away.\n\nSonic watched,amused that the bat hadn't swam away yet. Sonic noticed mersharks swimming up behind the bat. Sonic groaned and swam to the bat's aid,even though he was reluctant.\n\nRouge saw the large merhog swimming over to her,her eyes went wide at his size,''My god!'' she said in shock.\n\nSonic was now moving at full speed as the mersharks got closer to Rouge,the other two sharks swam to Sonic's and joined him on both sides,''Move you idiot!''Sonic snapped pushing Rouge away from the jaws of the mersharks. The mershark bit down hard on Sonic's arm while Sonic wrapped his tail around the mershark's body,the other two sharks kept the second mershark at bay while Sonic fought the first one.\n\n``You are not even full grown.''The mershark said laughing as it finally let go,''You don't know you true strength yet!.''\n\n\fSonic narrowed his eyes,'' I know that once I'm full grown,I'll be the biggest and strongest merhog that will ever exist.''Sonic growled,showing off his sharp teeth and claws befores swimming at max speed at the mershark who was shocked at the speed a merhog of his size shouldn't swim at.\n\nSonic hit the mershark at such a force,Rouge could hear the snap of bones,making her flinch. The other mershark had tried to flee only to find the large merhog in front of him,Sonic used his claws and killed the mershark,the smell of blood making the two friendly sharks hungry as they circled the merhog and bat.\n\nSonic's necklace started to glow softly,''Forget what you saw here,and forget that you ever saw me.''he said,and with a flick of his tail,Rouge fell asleep and was guided to the surface of the water where her crew pulled her on the board.\n\nRouge started to stir an hour later,''What happened?''She asked confused.\n\n``We don't know,we just found you unconscious.''One of her crew mates said.\n\nRouge sat up abruptly,''The merhog!''She shouted,''We have to go back! I need it's jewellery!''She growled,about ready to dive back in when when something shining came flying out of the water and landed in the boat.\n\n``What is it?''a crew mate asked as Rouge picked it up.\n\n``It's the most beautiful piece of jewellery I've even seen!''Rouge said showing her crew,''Just imagine how much money we could make off of this pure silver necklace!'' he crew mates cheered as they sailed back to their ship,''Remind me to keep coming back here.''She said to one of her crew mates.\n\n``You still haven't told us what happened down there.''One of them said as they sailed there large ship back to land.\n\n``That's a story for the captains to share,''Rouge said as they docked.\n\n``Hay Rouge!'' Shadow said walking over to other captain,''Is that pure silver?''Shadow asked,looking at the necklace Rouge held.\n\n``It sure is honey,and I'm turning it into gold!'' Rouge said with a large smile on her face. After Rouge traded the necklace for gold,she told them about the merhog and the fight.\n\nShe still remembers,her will is strong\n\nSonic thought,listening to the story with little interest before leaving once Rouge finished\n\n\f\n\nShadow was amazed that Rouge got to see the Blue Death up close,and now that he knew that the merhog existed,he'd try harder to find it,''Looks like Mephiles and I should leave.''Shadow said standing up,''We'll have to try extra hard to find the merhog now.''he said leaving,followed by Mephiles.\n\nOver the next few days, Mephiles and Shadow got diving gear.\n\n``Rouge said she saw it near some castile of some sort''Mephiles said as he and Shadow shared a ship together and took half their crew with them.\n\n``I hope it's still around that area.''Shadow said looking over the vast ocean,''Wait.''He said looking at something in the water,''What's that?'' He asked as he saw something tangled in a fisher's net.\n\n``I don't know,but we should free it.''Mephiles said getting onto a small boat alongside Shadow.\n\nSonic's pov\n\n``Grrr!''Sonic growled,thrashing in a fisherman's net,''I never saw the damn thing!''He mumbled only to see a ship,he had to get out of this net! Sonic struggled more and more,only succeeding in making small cuts along his body.\n\nSonic finally looked up,only to be greeted by large ruby eyes. The amulet on Sonic's left wrist started to glow when the hedgehog reached for him,but grabbed the net. Sonic had told all nearby hostile fish to stay close,but not to attack. The hedgehog cut the net,allowing Sonic to swim free at last. Sonic didn't even thank the two hedgehogs,he just swam away along with the fish .\n\n``That was.''Shadow started,only to be at a loss for words,Mephiles was too.\n\n``I never thought that we'd get to see it up close.''Mephiles mumbled,still trying to find his voice,''Shadow.''Mephiles said looking at the other,''We NEED to protect it.''Shadow nodded his agreement.\n\n``Then let's find it again.''Shadow said as they turned the boat around and headed back towards Shadow's ship.\n\n``I can't believe I got myself trapped like that!''Sonic scolded himself has he headed towards the ruins of his former home.\n\nHours have passed since Sonic was trapped in the net,his scratches healing nicely. He had ordered for five great white sharks to guard him while he slept,but little did he know,he was in\n\n\ffor a wake up call when a mershark got passed his guards. The shark nearest to him woke him up just before the mershark had reached him.\n\n``Why can't I have a day of peace and quiet?''Sonic growled,dodging the mershark's attacks. Sonic swam towards the surface of the ocean,leading the mershark into a trap,the moment the mershark was at full speed,Sonic quickly moved to the side,making the mershark jump out of the water,when it hit the water,Sonic gave it a powerful smack with his tail,stunning the mershark,by now Sonic knew it was a trap he couldn't run away from.\n\n``You fell straight into our trap.''A mershark said,circling the merhog,the shark was soon joined by about five more.\n\n``None of you ever learn.''Sonic said,calling upon a whale shark which scared away the mersharks,saying his thanks,Sonic swam around his former home,not wanting to do anything today,when suddenly,the largest mershark Sonic had ever seen tried to bite his tail but instead got a smack to the face.\n\nWith Shadow and Mephiles\n\n``What's going on over there?''Shadow asked,pointing to where a shark tail could be seen,pointing out of the water.\n\n``What if it's the merhog being attacked?''Mephiles said,worried they watched the scene unfold.\n\nSonic struggled to keep away from the mershark's sharp teeth,and to keep his tail safe from any bite as well,but soon found himself forced onto the surface of the water,''Grr!''Sonic growled in pain after being thrown into the air,he had barely enough time to avoid being bitten by the mershark.\n\n``That's ENOUGH!''Sonic shouted,scaring any sailors and fishermen within a mile. All of Sonic's amulets shone brightly while the mershark sneered,not knowing that it was going to die. Sonic made a whirlpool around the mershark,using this to his advantage,Sonic used his claws and tore the mershark . Sonic wasn't that surprised to see that it survived.\n\n``Is that all you got?''The mershark panted ,bleeding heavily from the wounds it received. Before the mershark or the merhog could react,they both heard a cannon,the ball hit the mershark,killing it.\n\n``Are you okay?''Shadow asked the merhog that was bleeding. The merhog looked at Shadow before giving a growl,''We're not here to capture you,''Shadow said,leaning out of the boat,looking the merhog in its beautiful emerald eyes. Shadow sighed when it didn't respond.\n\n``I'm fine,now leave.''Sonic said with a growl,surprising Shadow and Mephiles who was coming to stand beside Shadow,nearly falling into the water,''I don't need your protection .'' He said to the two hedgehogs and was about to swim off when one of them touched him,out of reflex,Sonic\n\n\fpulled the hedgehog who had touched him,into the water,''Don't....you....ever.....touch me\n\n!''Sonic snarled at Shadow.\n\n``Sorry..''Shadow said frowning before getting back onto the boat with Mephiles help,''But your wounds seem to be bleeding badly''Shadow pointed out.\n\n``I'll be fine!.'' Sonic snapped and was about to swim off,but something stopped him. Shadow and Mephiles watched the merhog curiously . Once again,Sonic couldn't get away,below him swam the same five mersharks from before,drawn in by the smell of the merhog's blood. Sonic groaned loudly,not wanting to fight while injured.\n\n``What's wrong?''Mephiles asked the merhog.\n\n``More enemies,and I don't want to fight while i'm injured.''Sonic responded.\n\n``Then let us help you get away.''Shadow said,extending a hand to the merhog.\n\nSonic hesitated,not knowing if he could trust these sailors,''Tell me your names first.''he growled.\n\n``I'm Shadow.''\n\n``And I'm Mephiles.'' They introduced themselves.\n\n``Nice to meet you,now get me outta here.''Sonic said taking Shadow's hand and was pulled up on the boat. After they sailed away from the mersharks,Sonic got out,''Thanks for the help,but i'll be getting off here.'' He said leaving the boat.\n\n``Looks like we have a better story to tell the others.''Mephiles said nudging Shadow with his elbow,which the ebony hedgehog didn't respond,just watch the merhog swim away.\n\n``I wish we got its name.''Shadow sighed and Mephiles had to agree.\n\nWith Sonic\n\nSonic had a little trouble with swimming,but managed to get to Amy's restaurant,luck was on his side today,the water was actually clean for once. Sonic waited patiently for Amy,his wounds still stung with each movement he made till Amy finally came out,\n\n''Sonic?''Amy said,as she went over to the bleeding merhog.\n\n``A-Amy?''Sonic said,barely conscious. Amy gasped before walking quickly inside and grabbed a first aid kit.\n\n\f``Hang on Sonic.''She said as she covered up the worst of Sonic's wounds. Once Amy finished,she went back inside,letting Sonic rest.\n\n``Hay Tails,Silver,Blaze!''Amy called to her loyal friends who also knew about the merhog.\n\n``Yes Amy?'' What was it like? The merhog I mean.''She said,already knowing the answers. Mephiles let Shadow tell the story,which Amy listened to,''That's amazing!''she lied,she knew of the dangers Sonic went through on a daily basis.\n\n\f\n\n``Amy?''Tails said,''Can you come out back for a moment?''he asked urgently.\n\nAmy nodded and followed Tails,''Sonic!''Amy said as the merhog was about to leave.\n\n``What?''He asked,turning back to face Amy and Tails,a bit annoyed.\n\n``You'll reopen your wounds if you leave,''Amy said sternly,''Get back here.''Sonic sighed and went back to Amy.\n\n``I can take care of myself.''He said once he reached them.\n\n``We know,but we don't want to risk losing you,or having your wounds reopen.''Tails said frowning.\n\n``Fine,but only for a week,''Sonic said,keeping his head down so no one could see him,''I feel vulnerable here.''He growled.\n\n``We know,but sit tight.''Tails said with a smile that made Sonic smile.\n\nAmy went back inside and went back to Mephiles and Shadow,''What was that about?'' Mephiles asked Amy.\n\n``Oh,just some people keep throwing trash back there.'' Amy responded with a slight frown.\n\nShadow's eyes narrowed,he's known Amy for a long time,long enough to know when she lies.\n\n``Amy.'' Shadow said softly,''Tell us the truth.''\n\nAmy knew there was no escape so she beckoned them to follow her,before she opened the door to the deep water alleyway,she stopped them,''You must promise to NEVER tell anyone.''Amy seemingly growled the word 'never'.\n\n``We promise.'' Shadow and Mephiles said seriously,they knew never to get on Amy's bad side.\n\nWhen Amy opened the door,they only saw Tails who seemed to be playing in the water.\n\n``Amy,your-'' Tails stopping mid sentence,noticing Shadow and Mephiles,''What are you two doing back here?'' he asked nervously.\n\n``Amy what's going on?''Shadow asked confused,as was Mephiles as they walked over to Tails.\n\n``It's no use hiding him Tails,''Amy said crossing her arms,''And I made them promise not to tell,just tell him to come out.''\n\n\fTails nodded and whispered something to the water,to which both of Shadow's and Mephiles's surprise,was the merhog.\n\n``You've been hiding him here?''Shadow asked,astonished that no one had noticed any strange activity here.\n\n``?I've ?been hiding him here.''Amy said,''For a long time too.''\n\n``Since I was ten.''Sonic said,his back towards Shadow and Mephiles.\n\n``?TEN?!?'' Shadow and Mephiles exclaimed.\n\n?Hush!''Sonic growled.\n\n``Sorry.''they both muttered before going over to the water.\n\nSonic's only response to this was a growl,''I already have enough problems,leave me be.''\n\n``Sonic! Sonic turned towards Shadow,anger blazing in his eyes,and with a low growl,he sank deep into the alleyway water.\n\n``I've never seen him act like that before.''Amy said wide eyed at what Sonic did.\n\n``I don't think he wants to talk about it.''Tails responded.\n\nOver the next week\n\nShadow and Mephiles visited Sonic,who was very unresponsive to their questions and eventually snapped at them to him alone.\n\n``Finally,just one more day and I'll be back at sea,protecting the ocean.''Sonic sighed and heard the door open.\n\n\f``Hay Sonic.''He heard Amy's voice,''Why are you so mean to Shadow and Mephiles,they're only curious as to what happened to your kind.? Amy said fronwing,going over to the water which was kept clean for Sonic's sake thanks to Mephiles and Shadow.\n\n``I don't wanna talk about it.''Sonic growled,holding back tears.\n\nAmy noticed this and felt anger boil inside her,''Sonic! After a long time of silence Sonic spoke,''It's been so long.''he said,sorrow filled his tone,''Since I last saw them.''\n\nSonic never noticed Shadow,Mephiles,Tails,Silver,or Blaze coming out to listen to the merhog's story.\n\n``The last memory I had of my parents only came in flashes,I was so young,I still don't know how I remember it so clearly.''\n\nFlashback\n\nSonic was playing with his brother and sister,Manic and Sonia when he heard his mother's voice.\n\n``Time for bed you three,'' Aleena said to her kids.\n\n``Okay!''Sonic said swimming over to his mother while his brother and sister continued to play. Sonic responded,he was thinking over the last three weeks,where Mephiles and Shadow told his friends what they are and were surprised they took easily too it as well as they got to see Shadow in his Naga form.\n\nSonic was deep in thought when something grabbed his tail and pulled him down into the water.\n\nSonic looked angrily at the black and red tail that belonged to a familiar naga.\n\n``Sonic!''Amy called out when the merhog suddenly disappeared but then reappeared along with Shadow.\n\n``I told you not to do that!''Sonic growled at the beautiful ebony and crimson naga. Yes,beautiful.\n\nSonic did think that Shadow was beautiful no matter if he was human or naga .\n\n``Yeah Shadow,you should really stop doing that,you could attract mersharks.''Amy said as Mephiles sailed his ship over.\n\n``Hello Amy,Sonic,Shadow.''He nodded to the two swimming hedgehogs.\n\n``Hay buddy.''Shadow said with a smile while Sonic freed himself from Shadow's coils. Shadow wore different jewelry from Sonic,the only thing they have in common was the two bracelets which allowed them to change to human,or merhog from,for Sonic,and naga form,for Shadow.\n\n``Whatever.''Sonic said swimming away only to find himself in the coils of Shadow.\n\n``You know what happened last time you went off on your own.''Shadow hissed slightly.\n\n``Yeah.''Sonic rolled his eyes,''I got captured by Knuckles and got two scars that go down my tail and stop at the fin.''\n\n``Just be careful.''Shadow said relaxing his coils and letting Sonic go. Sonic nodded and swam off.\n\n``Shadow.''Mephiles said looking at the naga,''Follow him from a distance,just don't let him see you.'' Amy looked angrily at Mephiles once Shadow swam away.\n\n\fWith Sonic and Shadow\n\nSonic swam fast,enjoying the feel of the water passing through his gills,he eventually passed a whale that had its tail stuck in a net. With little difficulty,Sonic managed to remove the net from the whale's tail,''There.''Sonic said once he finished removing the net,''Now you're free.''\n\nSonic was about to swim off,only to find himself trapped in a net.\n\n``Scourge! We got him!''Sonic heard something from above.\n\n``Well shit.''Sonic growled as he was pulled towards the surface. As Sonic's head was about to breach the surface of the water,the whale he'd just freed hit the ship,making the ship rock,and the net drop back into the water.\n\nSonic struggled in the net,trying to free himself as the whale kept Scourge and his crew distracted.\n\nShadow used his tail to propel him towards Sonic,''Seems like Scourge got you trapped.''he said smiling when Sonic turned to face him.\n\n``Just get me out of this net!''Sonic stopped struggling when he spoke. Shadow nodded and used his sharp fangs to cut a hole large enough for Sonic to escape. Sonic wasn't in the right position to get out of the net,so he had to twist and turn to get into the right position.\n\n``Shit!''Sonic cursed as the net started to move upwards once again. Shadow coiled his tail around the net and pulled down with all his strength. After a long struggle,Sonic managed to get free and escape. Shadow let go of the net once Sonic was free,making the ship rock side to side as the net came up at a fast speed.\n\nShadow looked around for Sonic,but couldn't find the merhog,''Where did he go?''he said aloud.\n\n``Where'd it go?''Sonic thought to himself,''I can't lose that necklace.''\n\nIn the struggle to get out of the net,Sonic's necklace somehow fell off. Sonic asked for the help of the sea creatures of the deep to help him find it,which didn't take long when one came up to him,holding the necklace.\n\n``Thanks.''Sonic said gratefully to the the fish before putting the necklace around his neck before he swam back up,running into Shadow.\n\n``There you are!''Shadow said once he saw Sonic.\n\n\f``Yeah.''Sonic mumbled,''I just lost my necklace,but a fish found it,thank chaos it didn't fall far.''he said as he continued to swim back to the surface only to find Shadow had wrapped his tail around his waist.\n\n``I'm just glad your safe.''Shadow said letting go of Sonic.\n\nSonic just gave a nod,he was contemplating something when Shadow went up to get some air. Shadow maybe able to swim and talk underwater,but he still needed air. Once Shadow filled his lungs with air,he swam back down to Sonic.\n\n``What are you thinking about?''He asked the merhog.\n\n``Nothing.''Sonic responded,''Follow me,I want to show you something.''Sonic said swimming a few feet away and looked back to make sure Shadow was gonna follow him,which he did.\n\nThey swam for a long time,Shadow occasionally going up for air when he needed it,before going back down. ``Where is he taking me?''Shadow thought to himself.\n\n``We're here.''Sonic said pointing down to a sunken ship.\n\n``What's in that ship?''Shadow asked stopping by the merhog's side.\n\n``Why don't you follow me and find out.''Sonic said as he swam down towards the ship,Shadow hesitated before he followed as well. Amy asked.\n\n``Told me what?''\n\nAmy's entire crew went quiet.\n\n``Well you see....''Tails started.\n\n``Sonic is....'' I forgot!''Tails exclaimed,and ran to get the necklace.\n\n``Looks at Sonic's posture.''Shadow whispered to Amy.\n\n``He seems awkward.''Amy said,''he's always like that before he leaves.'' she pointed out as Tails came back with Sonic's necklace,''He's also grown an extra tail''Amy joked.\n\n``Huh?'' Sonic said questioningly,''I've always had that,it's just now fully coming in.''he explained.\n\n``What?!''Amy said surprised,''Oh.....'' She trailed off.\n\nThe extra tail Sonic had was blue and transparent and very thin,about five centimeters thick. This extra `tail' was meant to slow Sonic down if need be,and adds an extra burst of speed for a short amount of time. It also stores extra nutrition. When not in use,it justs drifts uselessly behind Sonic. The `tail' is seemingly elastic alwell,but only to an extent. If it is torn,it lowers the amount of nutrition that can be stored till it is fully healed. But depending on Sonic's health,is what determines how long it takes to heal.\n\n``Well,goodbye!''Sonic said waving his hand and swam off.\n\n\f\n\n``Tails''Shadow turned to the two tailed fox.\n\n``Yes Shadow?''\n\n``Can you make this ship fly,or sail faster?''Shadow asked.\n\n``Maybe,but it'd take a year or two.''\n\n``Fine by me,'' Shadow said with a curt nod as he watched the merhog swim farther away ,``because next time Sonic starts acting strangely,we're gonna follow him.''\n\n``WHAT!?!?!?!?''The entire crew said in shock.\n\nWith Sonic\n\nSonic felt that familiar pull,pulling him towards the arctic,he'd never acted upon it form first year when he felt it,but when he got older,the pull grew stronger,making it impossible to ignore.and now it just was unbearable just like the year before,and on the second time of heat,he finally caved into the pull and followed through with it to the grounds where he was born and spent his first few years of life.\n\n``If I get killed because of this.''Sonic mumbled before following his senses to where he was born. Only to find it over run with arctic merhogs.\n\nSonic didn't like this and searched for the leader until he found him.\n\n``Get out of here.''Sonic growled to the leader.''\n\n``Why should we,you're the only one who comes here.''the leader said,his queen by his side along with a few guards as every arctic merhog gathered around.\n\n``You don't own this ground,I do!''Sonic snarled,his heat making him angry and unreasonable.\n\n``So your the last survivor of the warm seas?''The leader said laughing,which would be his mistake.\n\n\fSonic grabbed the king by his neck,and a whirlpool formed around them,making it impossible for the guards to reach the king. After a few moments of trying to negotiate with Sonic,the king finally decided to let him keep the grounds and told his kind to swim off and leave.\n\n``Soon you guys will be dead once the mersharks adapt to your cold climates,''Sonic said as they left.\n\n``And I won't help.''he growled.\n\nThe place that Sonic was born ensured that mersharks could never get to without going through the many,difficult twists and turns of the arctic maze,and before that,the hot underground volcanoes that only stop erupting when a merhog near. And many more dangers.\n\nThese are the dangers Shadow and the others are going to face in three years.\n\nChapter three\n\nFight for? part one\n\nOver the three years,Tails added a submarine feature to the ship and made it more resistant to all elements,\n\nSonic stifled a moan as Shadow's coils rubbed up against him,''Shadow!''Sonic growled,hiding his moan with a snarl,''Let go!''Sonic had grown a lot in three years,and hadn't stopped going yet and Sonic had noticed when Shadow was in naga from,he had grown too.\n\n``I will once we reached our destination.''Shadow responded,dragging the merhog through the water. Sonic went quiet,biting into the bottom of his lips. Why? do I have to be in heat on my birthday? ?Sonic thought to himself as they neared Amy's ship.\n\n``Stop moving.''Shadow snapped when Sonic kept on moving.\n\n``I know it's my birthday and all,''Sonic said,managing to free his arms,''But I have other places to be!''Sonic said,finally getting free of Shadow's coils and swam off.\n\n``Damn.''Shadow said,watching the merhog swim into the depths of the ocean.\n\n\f\n\n``Shadow!''Amy said waving to the naga,''Where's Sonic?'' She asked as the merhog is nowhere to be seen.\n\n``He slipped out of my coils.''Shadow said once he reached the surface of the water.\n\n``Alright,''Sonic said swimming up behind the naga,''I'm back,but only for a short time.''Sonic said sitting on a rock pile that's jutting out of the water at low tide.\n\n``Yay!''They all cheered,but something to Sonic didn't feel right. That one hour passed fast before Sonic left without a word.\n\n``I think we should follow him.''Shadow said,his tail changing into two legs.\n\n``Right!''The other said and set sail after Sonic.\n\nSonic pov\n\nSonic moved quickly in the water,his body temperature rising due to that time of year again,and because of it,not of his energy is spent on something else,which meant he needed to take constant breaks but refused no matter how tired he was.\n\nAs night fell, Sonic soon found himself seeing ice drifting in the water and felt the water grow cold,which didn't help him that much with the heat he was feeling.Sonic looked around and finally found a large enough ice chunk to substan his weight and high enough for him to keep his tail in the water and swam over to it.\n\nI should be there already Sonic? said as?he? got on the slippery ice and held himself up using his sharp claw. He couldn't fall asleep with what felt like a blazing fire to the hermaphrodite. Sonic flushed at a thought,''I'm not doing that.''he mumbled to himself.\n\nSonic started to sing the songs his mother used to sing,in hope that it'll lull him to sleep,which it worked after and hour.\n\nWith Shadow and the others\n\n``Wow!''Tails said amazed\n\n''I've never heard Sonic sing before.''Shadow said,listening to the merhog's songs which seem to stop.\n\n\f``He's asleep.''Amy said smiling.\n\n``And we should do the same.''Mephiles said,heading to one of the rooms,which he shared with Shadow.\n\n``Good night everybody.''Shadow said,following after Mephiles.\n\nEarly Morning\n\nShadow woke everybody up,''Wake up!''he said,knocking at every door.Everybody got out of bed,still very tired.\n\n``Can't we sleep?''Silver asked,still wearing his PJs.\n\n``No.''Blaze said,looking wide awake and alert,''We have to keep following Sonic.''\n\n``Alright,he's about to wake up.''Mephiles pointed out as Sonic started to move on the melting ice chunk.\n\nSonic's pov\n\nSonic's eyes shot open and he sat up abruptly,''Alright,''Sonic sighed,''I'm gonna get there today,or tomorrow.''Sonic moaned softly as he sank the rest of his hot body back into the cold water and off he went to the mating and birthing grounds for his kind.\n\nSonic traveled nonstop through and under the ice with ease as he closed in on the birthing grounds.\n\n``What?''Sonic said confused as a large block of ice blocked his way. Sonic placed his hand on the ice and before he called upon an arctic animal remove it. Giving his thanks,Sonic continued to his destination,never slowing down. Sonic knew who placed the ice block there,and he has some strong words for them.\n\n``They are going to regret getting in my way!''Sonic growled and kept on swimming,but faster this time.\n\nAfter another long time of swimming through the frigid water,Sonic finally made it to the maze and followed his instincts. To Sonic's dismay,those arctic merhogs blocked the right path,but Sonic made his own.\n\nWhile Amy's ship was forced to go over the made because it couldn't fit. They watched Sonic swim out of the maze,and into more danger of underwater mines,which he could navigate with ease.\n\n\f\n\n``Damn arctic merhogs,I'm not helping their sorry asses!''Sonic growled as he finally made it to the ground,but was blocked by a boulder.\n\n``That's it!''Sonic said,punching the boulder as the large underwater volcano stopped blasting heat.\n\nNo one's pov\n\nThe boulder crumbled under Sonic's punch,creating and underwater dust could. True blood merhogs are born white,and when they open their eyes,whatever color they see first will decide what the color of their scales and fur and quills will be.\n\nSonic lay against his favorite rock,just relaxing the day away with little to nothing to do the ?Mephiles sailed over to the merhog. Over the past three months,Mephiles has been gather information on how fast and strong Sonic is,but the information kept on changing,as of now,Sonic was the size of a medium sized boat,give of take a few inches.\n\n``Hello Sonic.''Mephiles said to the large merhog.\n\n``Another test?''Sonic guessed. opening his eyes and looked up at the daywalker.\n\n``Yep,and it seems you strength and speed are still developing,and you should stop growing around the age of twenty-five,and by then you'll be almost as big as a large sized boat,but that's only an estimate.'' As the day bore on,and the testing continued,Sonic started to feel and sense a strange presence,as if someone or something was watching them,till Sonic finally voiced his concerns,''I feel like something is watching us,well more me than you.'' Sonic said with narrowed eyes.\n\n``Could be Shadow.''Mephiles said,brushing off Sonic's words.\n\n``I saw Shadow when I left the docks,as well as when you had me pushing your ship.''Sonic said rolling his eyes.\n\nMephiles looked surprised,''Okay,it's your territory,you don't need to ask me to have a look around.''he said smiling.\n\n``Alright,''Sonic said swimming off. Sonic combed through his entire territory,unable to find the person that was watching him and Mephiles. He only responded by saying,''Not my problem.'' before she was taken away.\n\nSonic swam deep within the sea,which is something he usually never did until now,the dangers that are in the darkest part of the sea made the merhog curious.\n\nAs the merhog went deeper,is got darker,and hard to see until a underwater volcano erupted for a short period of time,in that moment, Sonic saw something shining and swam to pick it up. Although he couldn't see it as well,he could feel it,and it felt like a book.\n\nSonic was so distracted that he never noticed a large octopus about to wrap it tentacles around his tail until last moment.\n\n``WHAT THE FUCK!''Sonic snapped,clawing at one of the eight tentacles. This octopus wasn't friendly in any way,so Sonic had to find a way to get it off of him,and fast. Sonic smirked as he saw another underwater volcano about to erupt. Once she thought she was safe,she placed the pup in some rocks where it wouldn&#039;t be found,she&#039;d removed her five earrings and gave it to the pup along with the bracelets,although one was a necklace.<br /><br />The pup opened his eyes only to see his mother leaving him,followed by mersharks,from that day on,he knew he was alone.<br /><br />Chapter one<br /><br />To Sea a merhog<br /><br />Thirteen years later.<br /><br />A merhog rested on a rock jutting out of the water,a distant look on his face as memories swirled through his mind,this merhog was large and had a scar over one of his eyes,he wore three earrings on his left ear and another other two on the right side of his tail.<br /><br />Many people have fathomed of see such a creature,but this blue merhog was known by many names such as,the Guardian Of The Sea,Destroyer Of Ships,The Blue Death,and many more. The captains had no idea that a pink hedgehog had been listening to what they&#039;ve said.<br /><br />``I need to tell Sonic.&#039;&#039;She said under her breath before running off.<br /><br />With Sonic<br /><br />Sonic sighed as he looked over the vast water before feeling his stomach growl for food.?I think it&#039;s time I go get something to eat. ?Sonic thought to himself.<br /><br />Sonic swam off towards the docks where there was an alleyway that lead to the back of a restaurant,the water was dirty here and Sonic always cleaned it up and dumped the trash into an underwater volcano. The two continued to talk while Sonic finished eating. From the front, Sonic looked like a normal hedgehog,but from the left,right,and behind you could clearly see the part where fur ended and where scales began.<br /><br />Sonic closed his eyes to sleep,only to hear cannons a few moments later he heard another but closer, Sonic&#039;s eyes opened and saw a ship coming closer. Sonic growled as he saw a green hedgehog. He dived into the water heading towards the ship.<br /><br />``Where&#039;d it go!&#039;&#039; Sonic heard one of them snap. Sonic stopped directly under the ship,on his left wrist was a bracelet which allowed him to call upon a sea creature to help aid or defend him,Sonic never liked putting sea creatures lives in danger,the bracelet was gold like the necklace her wore and the other bracelet which was on his right wrist,all three holding gems with power Sonic doesn&#039;t even know he has,he only understands the one on his left wrist,the gem was as blue as the sea and light up when Sonic used it.<br /><br />``Are you sure it was the Blue Death?&#039;&#039; Scourge asked one of his ship mates who said yes. Sonic started to swim again,but faster this time,using his powerful tail,he broke the bottom of the wooden ship and let a whale use its tail to guide the now sinking ship back to land.<br /><br />``Thank you my friend.&#039;&#039;Sonic said placing his hands on the whale&#039;s side,the whale sang back before going back to where it was.<br /><br />With Shadow and Mephiles<br /><br />``Knuckles,you know you&#039;ll lose this fight!&#039;&#039;Mephiles said as both captains fought,swords swinging as their crew cheered them on as Shadow joined the fight.<br /><br />``Back down Captain Knuckles,it&#039;s two against one.&#039;&#039; Shadow said,pointing his sword at the enemy. Knuckles growled before backing down and went back to his on ship.<br /><br />``This won&#039;t be the last you see of me!&#039;&#039;He shouted as he and his crew left.<br /><br />``Yeah! Shadow changed the direction of his ship,as did Mephiles as they both headed towards Scourge&#039;s ship.<br /><br />``Help!&#039;&#039; Scourge yelled as he saw Shadow&#039;s and Mephile&#039;s ship heading towards them,waving his hands.<br /><br />\f<br /><br />``What happened?&#039;&#039;Shadow asked,helping Scourge into a lifeboat.<br /><br />``The merhog is stronger than I thought,made a hole in the bottom of my ship!&#039;&#039; Scourge explained,&#039;&#039;Then a whale came out of nowhere and used its tail to make a wave,&#039;&#039;Scourge didn&#039;t want to explain the rest.<br /><br />``Well let&#039;s get you and your crew to land.&#039;&#039;Mephiles said as all of Scourge&#039;s crew got onto both Shadow&#039;s and Mephiles&#039;s ships and sailed towards land.<br /><br />``There we were,looking for the Blue Death on the vast sea,we saw something blue on a rock and we could see its tail,&#039;&#039;Scourge said dramatically as people heard that he and his crew saw the elusive merhog,&#039;&#039;I told my crew to fire the cannons and then that merhog got off the rocks,I thought it sawm away only to feel my ship shaking beneath my feet,and I realized just then that the Blue Death just made a hole in the bottom of the ship and a wave pushed us towards land,but we didn&#039;t get far.&#039;&#039; People listened to Scourge story,fascinated that the hedgehog had seen the merhog.<br /><br />``So you&#039;re saying that this Blue Death attacked your ship?&#039;&#039; A voice from the back of the crowd said with bitterness in their voice.<br /><br />``Yep,pretty much.&#039;&#039;Scourge responded to the voice.<br /><br />``Have you ever thought about what this merhog thinks when he was gonna be hit by cannons? Have you ever stopped to think about why he wears those jewels? And have you ever stopped to find out why he defends the oceans or why he wants to stay hidden?&#039;&#039;The voice finished. Scourge was silent,not knowing what to say,&#039;&#039;Hmph.&#039;&#039;The voice said,&#039;&#039;I&#039;m outta here.&#039;&#039;<br /><br />That voice had been Sonic,he couldn&#039;t stay on land for long, so he had to hurry to get back to the sea.<br /><br />With Sonic<br /><br />Sonic stepped into the water,he never like land,nor did he want to stay on land for long. Sonic&#039;s tail replaced his legs as he went deeper into the water.<br /><br />Sonic sawm towards the ruins of his home,now destroyed and in ruins. Sonic slowed down as a school of fish swam around him,as if warning him of the dangers ahead,&#039;&#039;What is it?&#039;&#039;He asked the school of fish,and the bracelet on his left wrist glowed.<br /><br />``There seems to be divers ahead,looking at what remains of the your Kingdom.&#039;&#039;The school of fish said,still swimming around Sonic.<br /><br />\f``Thank you,&#039;&#039;Sonic said,&#039;&#039;But I&#039;m going to have to prevent them from taking things from what remains.&#039;&#039;Sonic said,using his powerful tail to propel him quickly forwards towards the ruined kingdom.<br /><br />As the school of fish said, there were divers looking amongst the rubble. Sonic saw a Bat,getting close to where the throne room used to be, Sonic stopped,the necklace and bracelets shone brightly as Sonic rounded up all the divers into one big group.<br /><br />``What&#039;s going on?&#039;&#039;Rouge yelled at something sawm around them,creating a whirlpool,making them all sick.<br /><br />Sonic stopped swimming around the divers and went into the middle of the whirlpool,as a merhog,he had a special ability to create small whirlpools and tsunami,but if there are many merhogs working together,they can create large ones,but the size of the merhog determines the size of the said whirlpool and tsunami. Sonic is probably the largest of merhogs lengthwise. Sonic is this size because he was born with something called ` True Blood Of The Merhog&#039; which made him stronger,faster,larger, and much more,than any other merhog.<br /><br />``You have disturbed my ancient home,&#039;&#039;Sonic said in a booming voice that made him sound threatening and angry,&#039;&#039;Leave now and I&#039;ll spare your lives.&#039;&#039; Sonic then left and the whirlpool stopped,leaving Rouge and her crew dizzy and sick to the stomach.<br /><br />``Let&#039;s get outta here!&#039;&#039;One of the divers yelled seeing a pair of sharks(not mersharks) heading towards them. All of the other divers looked behind them before swimming franctly towards the surface as well.<br /><br />``You cowards!&#039;&#039;Rouge said,not noticing the sharks as they got closer,when she turned around she realized why they swam away.<br /><br />Sonic watched,amused that the bat hadn&#039;t swam away yet. Sonic noticed mersharks swimming up behind the bat. Sonic groaned and swam to the bat&#039;s aid,even though he was reluctant.<br /><br />Rouge saw the large merhog swimming over to her,her eyes went wide at his size,&#039;&#039;My god!&#039;&#039; she said in shock.<br /><br />Sonic was now moving at full speed as the mersharks got closer to Rouge,the other two sharks swam to Sonic&#039;s and joined him on both sides,&#039;&#039;Move you idiot!&#039;&#039;Sonic snapped pushing Rouge away from the jaws of the mersharks. The mershark bit down hard on Sonic&#039;s arm while Sonic wrapped his tail around the mershark&#039;s body,the other two sharks kept the second mershark at bay while Sonic fought the first one.<br /><br />``You are not even full grown.&#039;&#039;The mershark said laughing as it finally let go,&#039;&#039;You don&#039;t know you true strength yet!.&#039;&#039;<br /><br />\fSonic narrowed his eyes,&#039;&#039; I know that once I&#039;m full grown,I&#039;ll be the biggest and strongest merhog that will ever exist.&#039;&#039;Sonic growled,showing off his sharp teeth and claws befores swimming at max speed at the mershark who was shocked at the speed a merhog of his size shouldn&#039;t swim at.<br /><br />Sonic hit the mershark at such a force,Rouge could hear the snap of bones,making her flinch. The other mershark had tried to flee only to find the large merhog in front of him,Sonic used his claws and killed the mershark,the smell of blood making the two friendly sharks hungry as they circled the merhog and bat.<br /><br />Sonic&#039;s necklace started to glow softly,&#039;&#039;Forget what you saw here,and forget that you ever saw me.&#039;&#039;he said,and with a flick of his tail,Rouge fell asleep and was guided to the surface of the water where her crew pulled her on the board.<br /><br />Rouge started to stir an hour later,&#039;&#039;What happened?&#039;&#039;She asked confused.<br /><br />``We don&#039;t know,we just found you unconscious.&#039;&#039;One of her crew mates said.<br /><br />Rouge sat up abruptly,&#039;&#039;The merhog!&#039;&#039;She shouted,&#039;&#039;We have to go back! I need it&#039;s jewellery!&#039;&#039;She growled,about ready to dive back in when when something shining came flying out of the water and landed in the boat.<br /><br />``What is it?&#039;&#039;a crew mate asked as Rouge picked it up.<br /><br />``It&#039;s the most beautiful piece of jewellery I&#039;ve even seen!&#039;&#039;Rouge said showing her crew,&#039;&#039;Just imagine how much money we could make off of this pure silver necklace!&#039;&#039; he crew mates cheered as they sailed back to their ship,&#039;&#039;Remind me to keep coming back here.&#039;&#039;She said to one of her crew mates.<br /><br />``You still haven&#039;t told us what happened down there.&#039;&#039;One of them said as they sailed there large ship back to land.<br /><br />``That&#039;s a story for the captains to share,&#039;&#039;Rouge said as they docked.<br /><br />``Hay Rouge!&#039;&#039; Shadow said walking over to other captain,&#039;&#039;Is that pure silver?&#039;&#039;Shadow asked,looking at the necklace Rouge held.<br /><br />``It sure is honey,and I&#039;m turning it into gold!&#039;&#039; Rouge said with a large smile on her face. After Rouge traded the necklace for gold,she told them about the merhog and the fight.<br /><br />She still remembers,her will is strong<br /><br />Sonic thought,listening to the story with little interest before leaving once Rouge finished<br /><br />\f<br /><br />Shadow was amazed that Rouge got to see the Blue Death up close,and now that he knew that the merhog existed,he&#039;d try harder to find it,&#039;&#039;Looks like Mephiles and I should leave.&#039;&#039;Shadow said standing up,&#039;&#039;We&#039;ll have to try extra hard to find the merhog now.&#039;&#039;he said leaving,followed by Mephiles.<br /><br />Over the next few days, Mephiles and Shadow got diving gear.<br /><br />``Rouge said she saw it near some castile of some sort&#039;&#039;Mephiles said as he and Shadow shared a ship together and took half their crew with them.<br /><br />``I hope it&#039;s still around that area.&#039;&#039;Shadow said looking over the vast ocean,&#039;&#039;Wait.&#039;&#039;He said looking at something in the water,&#039;&#039;What&#039;s that?&#039;&#039; He asked as he saw something tangled in a fisher&#039;s net.<br /><br />``I don&#039;t know,but we should free it.&#039;&#039;Mephiles said getting onto a small boat alongside Shadow.<br /><br />Sonic&#039;s pov<br /><br />``Grrr!&#039;&#039;Sonic growled,thrashing in a fisherman&#039;s net,&#039;&#039;I never saw the damn thing!&#039;&#039;He mumbled only to see a ship,he had to get out of this net! Sonic struggled more and more,only succeeding in making small cuts along his body.<br /><br />Sonic finally looked up,only to be greeted by large ruby eyes. The amulet on Sonic&#039;s left wrist started to glow when the hedgehog reached for him,but grabbed the net. Sonic had told all nearby hostile fish to stay close,but not to attack. The hedgehog cut the net,allowing Sonic to swim free at last. Sonic didn&#039;t even thank the two hedgehogs,he just swam away along with the fish .<br /><br />``That was.&#039;&#039;Shadow started,only to be at a loss for words,Mephiles was too.<br /><br />``I never thought that we&#039;d get to see it up close.&#039;&#039;Mephiles mumbled,still trying to find his voice,&#039;&#039;Shadow.&#039;&#039;Mephiles said looking at the other,&#039;&#039;We NEED to protect it.&#039;&#039;Shadow nodded his agreement.<br /><br />``Then let&#039;s find it again.&#039;&#039;Shadow said as they turned the boat around and headed back towards Shadow&#039;s ship.<br /><br />``I can&#039;t believe I got myself trapped like that!&#039;&#039;Sonic scolded himself has he headed towards the ruins of his former home.<br /><br />Hours have passed since Sonic was trapped in the net,his scratches healing nicely. He had ordered for five great white sharks to guard him while he slept,but little did he know,he was in<br /><br />\ffor a wake up call when a mershark got passed his guards. The shark nearest to him woke him up just before the mershark had reached him.<br /><br />``Why can&#039;t I have a day of peace and quiet?&#039;&#039;Sonic growled,dodging the mershark&#039;s attacks. Sonic swam towards the surface of the ocean,leading the mershark into a trap,the moment the mershark was at full speed,Sonic quickly moved to the side,making the mershark jump out of the water,when it hit the water,Sonic gave it a powerful smack with his tail,stunning the mershark,by now Sonic knew it was a trap he couldn&#039;t run away from.<br /><br />``You fell straight into our trap.&#039;&#039;A mershark said,circling the merhog,the shark was soon joined by about five more.<br /><br />``None of you ever learn.&#039;&#039;Sonic said,calling upon a whale shark which scared away the mersharks,saying his thanks,Sonic swam around his former home,not wanting to do anything today,when suddenly,the largest mershark Sonic had ever seen tried to bite his tail but instead got a smack to the face.<br /><br />With Shadow and Mephiles<br /><br />``What&#039;s going on over there?&#039;&#039;Shadow asked,pointing to where a shark tail could be seen,pointing out of the water.<br /><br />``What if it&#039;s the merhog being attacked?&#039;&#039;Mephiles said,worried they watched the scene unfold.<br /><br />Sonic struggled to keep away from the mershark&#039;s sharp teeth,and to keep his tail safe from any bite as well,but soon found himself forced onto the surface of the water,&#039;&#039;Grr!&#039;&#039;Sonic growled in pain after being thrown into the air,he had barely enough time to avoid being bitten by the mershark.<br /><br />``That&#039;s ENOUGH!&#039;&#039;Sonic shouted,scaring any sailors and fishermen within a mile. All of Sonic&#039;s amulets shone brightly while the mershark sneered,not knowing that it was going to die. Sonic made a whirlpool around the mershark,using this to his advantage,Sonic used his claws and tore the mershark . Sonic wasn&#039;t that surprised to see that it survived.<br /><br />``Is that all you got?&#039;&#039;The mershark panted ,bleeding heavily from the wounds it received. Before the mershark or the merhog could react,they both heard a cannon,the ball hit the mershark,killing it.<br /><br />``Are you okay?&#039;&#039;Shadow asked the merhog that was bleeding. The merhog looked at Shadow before giving a growl,&#039;&#039;We&#039;re not here to capture you,&#039;&#039;Shadow said,leaning out of the boat,looking the merhog in its beautiful emerald eyes. Shadow sighed when it didn&#039;t respond.<br /><br />``I&#039;m fine,now leave.&#039;&#039;Sonic said with a growl,surprising Shadow and Mephiles who was coming to stand beside Shadow,nearly falling into the water,&#039;&#039;I don&#039;t need your protection .&#039;&#039; He said to the two hedgehogs and was about to swim off when one of them touched him,out of reflex,Sonic<br /><br />\fpulled the hedgehog who had touched him,into the water,&#039;&#039;Don&#039;t....you....ever.....touch me<br /><br />!&#039;&#039;Sonic snarled at Shadow.<br /><br />``Sorry..&#039;&#039;Shadow said frowning before getting back onto the boat with Mephiles help,&#039;&#039;But your wounds seem to be bleeding badly&#039;&#039;Shadow pointed out.<br /><br />``I&#039;ll be fine!.&#039;&#039; Sonic snapped and was about to swim off,but something stopped him. Shadow and Mephiles watched the merhog curiously . Once again,Sonic couldn&#039;t get away,below him swam the same five mersharks from before,drawn in by the smell of the merhog&#039;s blood. Sonic groaned loudly,not wanting to fight while injured.<br /><br />``What&#039;s wrong?&#039;&#039;Mephiles asked the merhog.<br /><br />``More enemies,and I don&#039;t want to fight while i&#039;m injured.&#039;&#039;Sonic responded.<br /><br />``Then let us help you get away.&#039;&#039;Shadow said,extending a hand to the merhog.<br /><br />Sonic hesitated,not knowing if he could trust these sailors,&#039;&#039;Tell me your names first.&#039;&#039;he growled.<br /><br />``I&#039;m Shadow.&#039;&#039;<br /><br />``And I&#039;m Mephiles.&#039;&#039; They introduced themselves.<br /><br />``Nice to meet you,now get me outta here.&#039;&#039;Sonic said taking Shadow&#039;s hand and was pulled up on the boat. After they sailed away from the mersharks,Sonic got out,&#039;&#039;Thanks for the help,but i&#039;ll be getting off here.&#039;&#039; He said leaving the boat.<br /><br />``Looks like we have a better story to tell the others.&#039;&#039;Mephiles said nudging Shadow with his elbow,which the ebony hedgehog didn&#039;t respond,just watch the merhog swim away.<br /><br />``I wish we got its name.&#039;&#039;Shadow sighed and Mephiles had to agree.<br /><br />With Sonic<br /><br />Sonic had a little trouble with swimming,but managed to get to Amy&#039;s restaurant,luck was on his side today,the water was actually clean for once. Sonic waited patiently for Amy,his wounds still stung with each movement he made till Amy finally came out,<br /><br />&#039;&#039;Sonic?&#039;&#039;Amy said,as she went over to the bleeding merhog.<br /><br />``A-Amy?&#039;&#039;Sonic said,barely conscious. Amy gasped before walking quickly inside and grabbed a first aid kit.<br /><br />\f``Hang on Sonic.&#039;&#039;She said as she covered up the worst of Sonic&#039;s wounds. Once Amy finished,she went back inside,letting Sonic rest.<br /><br />``Hay Tails,Silver,Blaze!&#039;&#039;Amy called to her loyal friends who also knew about the merhog.<br /><br />``Yes Amy?&#039;&#039; Tails said,walking over to her.<br /><br />``Yeah,what&#039;s wrong?&#039;&#039;Blaze and Silver asked.<br /><br />``It&#039;s Sonic,he&#039;s badly hurt,&#039;&#039;Amy said,worry filled her voice.<br /><br />``Stupid mersharks.&#039;&#039;Silver mumbled.<br /><br />``He&#039;s going to have to stay where he is,and that means we&#039;ll have to keep him hidden.&#039;&#039;Amy said frowning.<br /><br />``Alright,we&#039;ll just have to prevent people from going back there.&#039;&#039;Silver said,receiving a smack on the head from Blaze,&#039;&#039;What?!&#039;&#039;He said rubbing the back of his head.<br /><br />``We could bring him to one of our homes,but that means no visitors.&#039;&#039;Tails said,rubbing his nose.<br /><br />``That&#039;ll have to work.&#039;&#039;Amy said,&#039;&#039;But they have to be close to the water.&#039;&#039; she frowned until she heard a familiar voice.<br /><br />Chapter two<br /><br />To help a merhog<br /><br />``Hay!&#039;&#039;Shadow said walking into the restaurant,followed by a somewhat large crowd or people.<br /><br />``Hello Shadow,hello to you too Mephiles.&#039;&#039;Amy said walking over to them,&#039;&#039;Alright,I don&#039;t have enough seats for everyone,so most of you have to wait!&#039;&#039;Amy said to the people waiting outside.<br /><br />``Thanks Amies.&#039;&#039;Shadow sighed as most the crowd left in disappointment.<br /><br />``No problem.&#039;&#039;Amy said smiling and let both Shadow and Mephiles sit down at a table,&#039;&#039;Why were they following you?&#039;&#039;she asked as they ordered.<br /><br />``We told them we saved the merhog.&#039;&#039;Mephiles responded which made Amy tense up.<br /><br />``Really? What was it like? The merhog I mean.&#039;&#039;She said,already knowing the answers. Mephiles let Shadow tell the story,which Amy listened to,&#039;&#039;That&#039;s amazing!&#039;&#039;she lied,she knew of the dangers Sonic went through on a daily basis.<br /><br />\f<br /><br />``Amy?&#039;&#039;Tails said,&#039;&#039;Can you come out back for a moment?&#039;&#039;he asked urgently.<br /><br />Amy nodded and followed Tails,&#039;&#039;Sonic!&#039;&#039;Amy said as the merhog was about to leave.<br /><br />``What?&#039;&#039;He asked,turning back to face Amy and Tails,a bit annoyed.<br /><br />``You&#039;ll reopen your wounds if you leave,&#039;&#039;Amy said sternly,&#039;&#039;Get back here.&#039;&#039;Sonic sighed and went back to Amy.<br /><br />``I can take care of myself.&#039;&#039;He said once he reached them.<br /><br />``We know,but we don&#039;t want to risk losing you,or having your wounds reopen.&#039;&#039;Tails said frowning.<br /><br />``Fine,but only for a week,&#039;&#039;Sonic said,keeping his head down so no one could see him,&#039;&#039;I feel vulnerable here.&#039;&#039;He growled.<br /><br />``We know,but sit tight.&#039;&#039;Tails said with a smile that made Sonic smile.<br /><br />Amy went back inside and went back to Mephiles and Shadow,&#039;&#039;What was that about?&#039;&#039; Mephiles asked Amy.<br /><br />``Oh,just some people keep throwing trash back there.&#039;&#039; Amy responded with a slight frown.<br /><br />Shadow&#039;s eyes narrowed,he&#039;s known Amy for a long time,long enough to know when she lies.<br /><br />``Amy.&#039;&#039; Shadow said softly,&#039;&#039;Tell us the truth.&#039;&#039;<br /><br />Amy knew there was no escape so she beckoned them to follow her,before she opened the door to the deep water alleyway,she stopped them,&#039;&#039;You must promise to NEVER tell anyone.&#039;&#039;Amy seemingly growled the word &#039;never&#039;.<br /><br />``We promise.&#039;&#039; Shadow and Mephiles said seriously,they knew never to get on Amy&#039;s bad side.<br /><br />When Amy opened the door,they only saw Tails who seemed to be playing in the water.<br /><br />``Amy,your-&#039;&#039; Tails stopping mid sentence,noticing Shadow and Mephiles,&#039;&#039;What are you two doing back here?&#039;&#039; he asked nervously.<br /><br />``Amy what&#039;s going on?&#039;&#039;Shadow asked confused,as was Mephiles as they walked over to Tails.<br /><br />``It&#039;s no use hiding him Tails,&#039;&#039;Amy said crossing her arms,&#039;&#039;And I made them promise not to tell,just tell him to come out.&#039;&#039;<br /><br />\fTails nodded and whispered something to the water,to which both of Shadow&#039;s and Mephiles&#039;s surprise,was the merhog.<br /><br />``You&#039;ve been hiding him here?&#039;&#039;Shadow asked,astonished that no one had noticed any strange activity here.<br /><br />``?I&#039;ve ?been hiding him here.&#039;&#039;Amy said,&#039;&#039;For a long time too.&#039;&#039;<br /><br />``Since I was ten.&#039;&#039;Sonic said,his back towards Shadow and Mephiles.<br /><br />``?TEN?!?&#039;&#039; Shadow and Mephiles exclaimed.<br /><br />?Hush!&#039;&#039;Sonic growled.<br /><br />``Sorry.&#039;&#039;they both muttered before going over to the water.<br /><br />Sonic&#039;s only response to this was a growl,&#039;&#039;I already have enough problems,leave me be.&#039;&#039;<br /><br />``Sonic! Stop being rude!&#039;&#039;Amy snapped.<br /><br />``Sonic?&#039;&#039;Shadow asked.<br /><br />``That&#039;s my name,don&#039;t wear it out.&#039;&#039;Sonic said crossly.<br /><br />``Ugh! You&#039;re more stubborn than a mule.&#039;&#039;Amy said crossing her arms,&#039;&#039;But I kinda understand why,&#039;&#039;she sighed<br /><br />``So,er,&#039;&#039;Shadow started,&#039;&#039;What happened to all the merhogs?&#039;&#039;He asked. Sonic turned towards Shadow,anger blazing in his eyes,and with a low growl,he sank deep into the alleyway water.<br /><br />``I&#039;ve never seen him act like that before.&#039;&#039;Amy said wide eyed at what Sonic did.<br /><br />``I don&#039;t think he wants to talk about it.&#039;&#039;Tails responded.<br /><br />Over the next week<br /><br />Shadow and Mephiles visited Sonic,who was very unresponsive to their questions and eventually snapped at them to him alone.<br /><br />``Finally,just one more day and I&#039;ll be back at sea,protecting the ocean.&#039;&#039;Sonic sighed and heard the door open.<br /><br />\f``Hay Sonic.&#039;&#039;He heard Amy&#039;s voice,&#039;&#039;Why are you so mean to Shadow and Mephiles,they&#039;re only curious as to what happened to your kind.? Amy said fronwing,going over to the water which was kept clean for Sonic&#039;s sake thanks to Mephiles and Shadow.<br /><br />``I don&#039;t wanna talk about it.&#039;&#039;Sonic growled,holding back tears.<br /><br />Amy noticed this and felt anger boil inside her,&#039;&#039;Sonic! You can&#039;t bottle up your feelings like this! ``She snapped,surprising Sonic.<br /><br />``I can do what I want.&#039;&#039;He growled back.<br /><br />``It&#039;s not good for you.&#039;&#039;Amy whispered sadly.<br /><br />``Whatever!&#039;&#039;Sonic snapped,but knew he couldn&#039;t swim away. After a long time of silence Sonic spoke,&#039;&#039;It&#039;s been so long.&#039;&#039;he said,sorrow filled his tone,&#039;&#039;Since I last saw them.&#039;&#039;<br /><br />Sonic never noticed Shadow,Mephiles,Tails,Silver,or Blaze coming out to listen to the merhog&#039;s story.<br /><br />``The last memory I had of my parents only came in flashes,I was so young,I still don&#039;t know how I remember it so clearly.&#039;&#039;<br /><br />Flashback<br /><br />Sonic was playing with his brother and sister,Manic and Sonia when he heard his mother&#039;s voice.<br /><br />``Time for bed you three,&#039;&#039; Aleena said to her kids.<br /><br />``Okay!&#039;&#039;Sonic said swimming over to his mother while his brother and sister continued to play. Aleena sighed before taking Sonic inside the palace and to his room where he fell asleep quickly to his mother&#039;s songs.<br /><br />As the night wore on,a guard yelled out that they were under attack, Jules and Aleena looked for Manic and Sonia only to find them both dead.<br /><br />``Get Sonic out of here!&#039;&#039; Jules said to his wife,he handed her two bracelets and a necklace.<br /><br />Flashback stops<br /><br />``Sonic?&#039;&#039;Amy placed a hand on the merhog&#039;s shoulder,&#039;&#039;You need to talk about this.&#039;&#039;<br /><br />``It&#039;s too hard.&#039;&#039;Sonic mumbled,tears threatening to fall down his face.<br /><br />\f<br /><br />``We&#039;re all here to help you Sonic,but you have to let go of the past.&#039;&#039;Tails said walking over to Sonic. Sonic mumbled something before he continued.<br /><br />Flashback continues<br /><br />Aleena held Sonic gently in her arms as she fled from her kingdom. She swam as fast as she could and never looked back no matter what.<br /><br />She started to tire and knew she wouldn&#039;t get any farther with Sonic,she saw some rocks and placed him in the crevice of the rocks and gave her son the necklace,earrings,and bracelets.<br /><br />``I&#039;m sorry my son.&#039;&#039;She said kissing his forehead,tears falling onto Sonic&#039;s head waking him.<br /><br />Sonic reached out for his mother but she told him to stay and be quiet before leading the mersharks away from him.<br /><br />Flashback ends.<br /><br />Sonic rested his head between his crossed arms on the ground,hiding his tears,&#039;&#039;I waited a few weeks for her to return,but she never did,and that&#039;s when I decided to leave and I found what remained of her.&#039;&#039;his breathing thickened at the memory,&#039;&#039;I went back to the kingdom,&#039;&#039;Sonic paused,trying to prevent himself from losing it,&#039;&#039;All I saw was death and destruction, I saw my family and friends,what remained of them,and worst of all,&#039;&#039;Sonic shuddered,&#039;&#039;I was only five,when I encountered my first mershark.&#039;&#039;<br /><br />That&#039;s when Sonic stopped,he could no longer hold back the tears. Amy reached out to Sonic only for him to pull away from her.<br /><br />``Just leave.&#039;&#039;Sonic said weakly with his words choked up. Amy and the others hesitated,but decided to leave followed by the others,Shadow didn&#039;t leave,but instead went over to the crying merhog.<br /><br />``Sonic.&#039;&#039;Shadow said softly,&#039;&#039;You don&#039;t have to fight this alone,&#039;&#039;Mephiles has helped me through some hard times.&#039;&#039;<br /><br />``Because he&#039;s a daywalker vampire,and you&#039;re part naga,&#039;&#039;Sonic said,still not facing the surprised hedgehog,&#039;&#039;I could tell because you move faster than anybody else,and Mephiles is paler than Amy,I&#039;ve also seen his fangs.&#039;&#039;<br /><br />Shadow looked at Sonic,very impressed,&#039;&#039;You still can&#039;t fight this alone.&#039;&#039;Shadow said,leaving Sonic alone.<br /><br />\fThree weeks later<br /><br />Sonic swam the sea,his mind whirling with the words that Shadow had said. He&#039;d gotten familiar with Mephiles and Shadow&#039;s ships and Amy and the others pooled all their money together,and with the help of Sonic,managed to by one as well.<br /><br />``Sonic!&#039;&#039;Amy called to him as he passed her ship,&#039;&#039;Are you hungry?&#039;&#039;she asked as Sonic came to the surface.<br /><br />``No,not really.&#039;&#039; Sonic responded,he was thinking over the last three weeks,where Mephiles and Shadow told his friends what they are and were surprised they took easily too it as well as they got to see Shadow in his Naga form.<br /><br />Sonic was deep in thought when something grabbed his tail and pulled him down into the water.<br /><br />Sonic looked angrily at the black and red tail that belonged to a familiar naga.<br /><br />``Sonic!&#039;&#039;Amy called out when the merhog suddenly disappeared but then reappeared along with Shadow.<br /><br />``I told you not to do that!&#039;&#039;Sonic growled at the beautiful ebony and crimson naga. Yes,beautiful.<br /><br />Sonic did think that Shadow was beautiful no matter if he was human or naga .<br /><br />``Yeah Shadow,you should really stop doing that,you could attract mersharks.&#039;&#039;Amy said as Mephiles sailed his ship over.<br /><br />``Hello Amy,Sonic,Shadow.&#039;&#039;He nodded to the two swimming hedgehogs.<br /><br />``Hay buddy.&#039;&#039;Shadow said with a smile while Sonic freed himself from Shadow&#039;s coils. Shadow wore different jewelry from Sonic,the only thing they have in common was the two bracelets which allowed them to change to human,or merhog from,for Sonic,and naga form,for Shadow.<br /><br />``Whatever.&#039;&#039;Sonic said swimming away only to find himself in the coils of Shadow.<br /><br />``You know what happened last time you went off on your own.&#039;&#039;Shadow hissed slightly.<br /><br />``Yeah.&#039;&#039;Sonic rolled his eyes,&#039;&#039;I got captured by Knuckles and got two scars that go down my tail and stop at the fin.&#039;&#039;<br /><br />``Just be careful.&#039;&#039;Shadow said relaxing his coils and letting Sonic go. Sonic nodded and swam off.<br /><br />``Shadow.&#039;&#039;Mephiles said looking at the naga,&#039;&#039;Follow him from a distance,just don&#039;t let him see you.&#039;&#039; Amy looked angrily at Mephiles once Shadow swam away.<br /><br />\fWith Sonic and Shadow<br /><br />Sonic swam fast,enjoying the feel of the water passing through his gills,he eventually passed a whale that had its tail stuck in a net. With little difficulty,Sonic managed to remove the net from the whale&#039;s tail,&#039;&#039;There.&#039;&#039;Sonic said once he finished removing the net,&#039;&#039;Now you&#039;re free.&#039;&#039;<br /><br />Sonic was about to swim off,only to find himself trapped in a net.<br /><br />``Scourge! We got him!&#039;&#039;Sonic heard something from above.<br /><br />``Well shit.&#039;&#039;Sonic growled as he was pulled towards the surface. As Sonic&#039;s head was about to breach the surface of the water,the whale he&#039;d just freed hit the ship,making the ship rock,and the net drop back into the water.<br /><br />Sonic struggled in the net,trying to free himself as the whale kept Scourge and his crew distracted.<br /><br />Shadow used his tail to propel him towards Sonic,&#039;&#039;Seems like Scourge got you trapped.&#039;&#039;he said smiling when Sonic turned to face him.<br /><br />``Just get me out of this net!&#039;&#039;Sonic stopped struggling when he spoke. Shadow nodded and used his sharp fangs to cut a hole large enough for Sonic to escape. Sonic wasn&#039;t in the right position to get out of the net,so he had to twist and turn to get into the right position.<br /><br />``Shit!&#039;&#039;Sonic cursed as the net started to move upwards once again. Shadow coiled his tail around the net and pulled down with all his strength. After a long struggle,Sonic managed to get free and escape. Shadow let go of the net once Sonic was free,making the ship rock side to side as the net came up at a fast speed.<br /><br />Shadow looked around for Sonic,but couldn&#039;t find the merhog,&#039;&#039;Where did he go?&#039;&#039;he said aloud.<br /><br />``Where&#039;d it go?&#039;&#039;Sonic thought to himself,&#039;&#039;I can&#039;t lose that necklace.&#039;&#039;<br /><br />In the struggle to get out of the net,Sonic&#039;s necklace somehow fell off. Sonic asked for the help of the sea creatures of the deep to help him find it,which didn&#039;t take long when one came up to him,holding the necklace.<br /><br />``Thanks.&#039;&#039;Sonic said gratefully to the the fish before putting the necklace around his neck before he swam back up,running into Shadow.<br /><br />``There you are!&#039;&#039;Shadow said once he saw Sonic.<br /><br />\f``Yeah.&#039;&#039;Sonic mumbled,&#039;&#039;I just lost my necklace,but a fish found it,thank chaos it didn&#039;t fall far.&#039;&#039;he said as he continued to swim back to the surface only to find Shadow had wrapped his tail around his waist.<br /><br />``I&#039;m just glad your safe.&#039;&#039;Shadow said letting go of Sonic.<br /><br />Sonic just gave a nod,he was contemplating something when Shadow went up to get some air. Shadow maybe able to swim and talk underwater,but he still needed air. Once Shadow filled his lungs with air,he swam back down to Sonic.<br /><br />``What are you thinking about?&#039;&#039;He asked the merhog.<br /><br />``Nothing.&#039;&#039;Sonic responded,&#039;&#039;Follow me,I want to show you something.&#039;&#039;Sonic said swimming a few feet away and looked back to make sure Shadow was gonna follow him,which he did.<br /><br />They swam for a long time,Shadow occasionally going up for air when he needed it,before going back down. ``Where is he taking me?&#039;&#039;Shadow thought to himself.<br /><br />``We&#039;re here.&#039;&#039;Sonic said pointing down to a sunken ship.<br /><br />``What&#039;s in that ship?&#039;&#039;Shadow asked stopping by the merhog&#039;s side.<br /><br />``Why don&#039;t you follow me and find out.&#039;&#039;Sonic said as he swam down towards the ship,Shadow hesitated before he followed as well. Once Shadow reached the ship,he was confronted by a great white,&#039;&#039;He&#039;s with me.&#039;&#039;Sonic said to the shark,who let him past.<br /><br />``Guard sharks?&#039;&#039;Shadow questioned as he and Sonic entered the ship.<br /><br />``And a few others which aren&#039;t here at the moment.&#039;&#039;Sonic responded,leading Shadow through the ship,and to a treasure room,&#039;&#039;We&#039;re here.&#039;&#039;he said letting Shadow go in first.<br /><br />``Why is there so much gold?&#039;&#039;Shadow asked,looking around in awe.<br /><br />``There are other things like silver,copper,and a little bit of iron.&#039;&#039;Sonic said,following in after Shadow,&#039;&#039;It&#039;s all from the treasure room of my former home.&#039;&#039;He explained a frown forming on his face before he started to look for something.<br /><br />Shadow watched Sonic curiously as he looked for something,&#039;&#039;What are you looking for?&#039;&#039;Shadow finally asked.<br /><br />``Here.&#039;&#039;Sonic gave Shadow a silver earring that seemed to have small bits of diamond in it,&#039;&#039;It&#039;ll help you breathe underwater longer.&#039;&#039;<br /><br />\fShadow looked at the earring before putting it on,&#039;&#039;Thanks.&#039;&#039;He said as the jewels on it started to glow.<br /><br />``No problem,now let&#039;s go.&#039;&#039;Sonic said leaving the ship.<br /><br />``He&#039;s acting strange.&#039;&#039;Shadow thought to himself as he followed Sonic out of the ship.<br /><br />``Sonic.&#039;&#039;Shadow said once he caught up with the merhog,&#039;&#039;How many ships have you sunk?&#039;&#039; Sonic looked at Shadow,before looking ahead,not responding to the question. Shadow sighed. ``And he&#039;s back to his normal self.&#039;&#039; Shadow thought annoyed.<br /><br />Three months have passed<br /><br />And Sonic and Shadow grew closer yet,when they got to close,Sonic would push back and they&#039;d start from square one once again,and it happened again,and Shadow was furious.<br /><br />``Where&#039;s Sonic?&#039;&#039;Shadow asked Amy&#039;s crew as he boarded their ship.<br /><br />``Calm down Shadow.&#039;&#039;Tails said when he said the ebony hedgehog,&#039;&#039;He swam by earlier saying he was gonna be gone for a couple of weeks,he didn&#039;t say why though.&#039;&#039;Tails explained to the mad hedgehog.<br /><br />``He&#039;s been acting strange for the last two months.&#039;&#039;Shadow grumbled and crossed his arms.<br /><br />``Has he not told you?&#039;&#039; Amy asked.<br /><br />``Told me what?&#039;&#039;<br /><br />Amy&#039;s entire crew went quiet.<br /><br />``Well you see....&#039;&#039;Tails started.<br /><br />``Sonic is....&#039;&#039; Blaze continued.<br /><br />``Kind of a....&#039;&#039;Silver said awkwardly once Blaze stopped.<br /><br />``Ugh!&#039;&#039;Amy grunted angrily,&#039;&#039;Sonic is a hermaphrodite?.&#039;&#039;Amy said whilst the others looked at the ground.<br /><br />``A what? Know what,never mind! I know what that is....&#039;&#039;Shadow trailed off and there was<br /><br />a long moment of silence,&#039;&#039;So that&#039;s why he&#039;s been acting so strange?&#039;&#039;<br /><br />\f``Most likely.&#039;&#039;Amy responded,&#039;&#039;When he&#039;s with us,he never acted strangely,and sometimes he went missing for days,weeks,and or months.when he turned fourteen.&#039;&#039;she said frowning,<br /><br />&#039;&#039;But we just didn&#039;t think much of it and it kept on happening once a year,once he went missing for six months but when he returned,he never told us where he went.&#039;&#039;Tails said.<br /><br />``I&#039;ve noticed he always seemed cold,like he went to the arctic, or the South pole.&#039;&#039; Blaze said frowning.<br /><br />``Hay guys.&#039;&#039;Sonic said to his friends,he felt very awkward because he was going through heat once again.<br /><br />``Hi Sonic!&#039;&#039;They all said smiling.<br /><br />``You&#039;re back early.&#039;&#039;Amy said with a wide smile.<br /><br />``Er,I just left something on the ship.&#039;&#039;Sonic said,his necklace missing.<br /><br />``Oh! I forgot!&#039;&#039;Tails exclaimed,and ran to get the necklace.<br /><br />``Looks at Sonic&#039;s posture.&#039;&#039;Shadow whispered to Amy.<br /><br />``He seems awkward.&#039;&#039;Amy said,&#039;&#039;he&#039;s always like that before he leaves.&#039;&#039; she pointed out as Tails came back with Sonic&#039;s necklace,&#039;&#039;He&#039;s also grown an extra tail&#039;&#039;Amy joked.<br /><br />``Huh?&#039;&#039; Sonic said questioningly,&#039;&#039;I&#039;ve always had that,it&#039;s just now fully coming in.&#039;&#039;he explained.<br /><br />``What?!&#039;&#039;Amy said surprised,&#039;&#039;Oh.....&#039;&#039; She trailed off.<br /><br />The extra tail Sonic had was blue and transparent and very thin,about five centimeters thick. This extra `tail&#039; was meant to slow Sonic down if need be,and adds an extra burst of speed for a short amount of time. It also stores extra nutrition. When not in use,it justs drifts uselessly behind Sonic. The `tail&#039; is seemingly elastic alwell,but only to an extent. If it is torn,it lowers the amount of nutrition that can be stored till it is fully healed. Only to find it over run with arctic merhogs.<br /><br />Sonic didn&#039;t like this and searched for the leader until he found him.<br /><br />``Get out of here.&#039;&#039;Sonic growled to the leader.&#039;&#039;<br /><br />``Why should we,you&#039;re the only one who comes here.&#039;&#039;the leader said,his queen by his side along with a few guards as every arctic merhog gathered around.<br /><br />``You don&#039;t own this ground,I do!&#039;&#039;Sonic snarled,his heat making him angry and unreasonable.<br /><br />``So your the last survivor of the warm seas?&#039;&#039;The leader said laughing,which would be his mistake.<br /><br />\fSonic grabbed the king by his neck,and a whirlpool formed around them,making it impossible for the guards to reach the king. After a few moments of trying to negotiate with Sonic,the king finally decided to let him keep the grounds and told his kind to swim off and leave.<br /><br />``Soon you guys will be dead once the mersharks adapt to your cold climates,&#039;&#039;Sonic said as they left.<br /><br />``And I won&#039;t help.&#039;&#039;he growled.<br /><br />The place that Sonic was born ensured that mersharks could never get to without going through the many,difficult twists and turns of the arctic maze,and before that,the hot underground volcanoes that only stop erupting when a merhog near. And many more dangers.<br /><br />These are the dangers Shadow and the others are going to face in three years.<br /><br />Chapter three<br /><br />Fight for? part one<br /><br />Over the three years,Tails added a submarine feature to the ship and made it more resistant to all elements,<br /><br />Sonic stifled a moan as Shadow&#039;s coils rubbed up against him,&#039;&#039;Shadow!&#039;&#039;Sonic growled,hiding his moan with a snarl,&#039;&#039;Let go!&#039;&#039;Sonic had grown a lot in three years,and hadn&#039;t stopped going yet and Sonic had noticed when Shadow was in naga from,he had grown too.<br /><br />``I will once we reached our destination.&#039;&#039;Shadow responded,dragging the merhog through the water. That one hour passed fast before Sonic left without a word.<br /><br />``I think we should follow him.&#039;&#039;Shadow said,his tail changing into two legs.<br /><br />``Right!&#039;&#039;The other said and set sail after Sonic.<br /><br />Sonic pov<br /><br />Sonic moved quickly in the water,his body temperature rising due to that time of year again,and because of it,not of his energy is spent on something else,which meant he needed to take constant breaks but refused no matter how tired he was.<br /><br />As night fell, Sonic soon found himself seeing ice drifting in the water and felt the water grow cold,which didn&#039;t help him that much with the heat he was feeling.Sonic looked around and finally found a large enough ice chunk to substan his weight and high enough for him to keep his tail in the water and swam over to it.<br /><br />I should be there already Sonic? said as?he? got on the slippery ice and held himself up using his sharp claw. He couldn&#039;t fall asleep with what felt like a blazing fire to the hermaphrodite. Sonic flushed at a thought,&#039;&#039;I&#039;m not doing that.&#039;&#039;he mumbled to himself.<br /><br />Sonic started to sing the songs his mother used to sing,in hope that it&#039;ll lull him to sleep,which it worked after and hour.<br /><br />With Shadow and the others<br /><br />``Wow!&#039;&#039;Tails said amazed<br /><br />&#039;&#039;I&#039;ve never heard Sonic sing before.&#039;&#039;Shadow said,listening to the merhog&#039;s songs which seem to stop.<br /><br />\f``He&#039;s asleep.&#039;&#039;Amy said smiling.<br /><br />``And we should do the same.&#039;&#039;Mephiles said,heading to one of the rooms,which he shared with Shadow.<br /><br />``Good night everybody.&#039;&#039;Shadow said,following after Mephiles.<br /><br />Early Morning<br /><br />Shadow woke everybody up,&#039;&#039;Wake up!&#039;&#039;he said,knocking at every door.Everybody got out of bed,still very tired.<br /><br />``Can&#039;t we sleep?&#039;&#039;Silver asked,still wearing his PJs.<br /><br />``No.&#039;&#039;Blaze said,looking wide awake and alert,&#039;&#039;We have to keep following Sonic.&#039;&#039;<br /><br />``Alright,he&#039;s about to wake up.&#039;&#039;Mephiles pointed out as Sonic started to move on the melting ice chunk.<br /><br />Sonic&#039;s pov<br /><br />Sonic&#039;s eyes shot open and he sat up abruptly,&#039;&#039;Alright,&#039;&#039;Sonic sighed,&#039;&#039;I&#039;m gonna get there today,or tomorrow.&#039;&#039;Sonic moaned softly as he sank the rest of his hot body back into the cold water and off he went to the mating and birthing grounds for his kind.<br /><br />Sonic traveled nonstop through and under the ice with ease as he closed in on the birthing grounds.<br /><br />``What?&#039;&#039;Sonic said confused as a large block of ice blocked his way. Sonic placed his hand on the ice and before he called upon an arctic animal remove it. Giving his thanks,Sonic continued to his destination,never slowing down. Sonic knew who placed the ice block there,and he has some strong words for them.<br /><br />``They are going to regret getting in my way!&#039;&#039;Sonic growled and kept on swimming,but faster this time.<br /><br />After another long time of swimming through the frigid water,Sonic finally made it to the maze and followed his instincts. To Sonic&#039;s dismay,those arctic merhogs blocked the right path,but Sonic made his own.<br /><br />While Amy&#039;s ship was forced to go over the made because it couldn&#039;t fit. They watched Sonic swim out of the maze,and into more danger of underwater mines,which he could navigate with ease.<br /><br />\f<br /><br />``Damn arctic merhogs,I&#039;m not helping their sorry asses!&#039;&#039;Sonic growled as he finally made it to the ground,but was blocked by a boulder.<br /><br />``That&#039;s it!&#039;&#039;Sonic said,punching the boulder as the large underwater volcano stopped blasting heat.<br /><br />No one&#039;s pov<br /><br />The boulder crumbled under Sonic&#039;s punch,creating and underwater dust could. All heads turned towards where the boulder once stood,waiting for the dust to settle on the seafloor,the arctic merhogs,had thick scales and skin that was meant to insulate heat and keep them warm,most were cool colors,such as blue,green,and violet,others where white.<br /><br />The Arctic merhogs had no surviving pups,and with their breeding ground gone into the sea,they decided to take over the one that belongs to Sonic,which would be a deadly mistake.<br /><br />Lucky for Sonic,mating hadn&#039;t happened yet.<br /><br />Sonic&#039;s pov<br /><br />``Didn&#039;t I tell you to stay out of here?&#039;&#039;Sonic growled,swimming threateningly out of the dust.<br /><br />``Who are you to boss us around?&#039;&#039;one of the arctic merhogs growled,only to realize that the merhog he was speaking to was much larger than him,and the jewels he wore marked his rank and the scar over his right eyes was a sign of ``Sol King.&#039;&#039; Meaning the last survivor of his kind or last survivor for short<br /><br />Sonic was marked when the mershark attacked him,although the other teeth marks healed,the largest one stayed and marked him for life.<br /><br />``I-i-i&#039;m sorry!&#039;&#039;The mergoh said backing away from Sonic,<br /><br />``Leave,&#039;&#039;Sonic said with narrowed emerald eyes,&#039;&#039;NOW!<br /><br />Most of the arctic merhogs left,those who stayed where the guards,who were protecting the King and Queen,&#039;&#039;Kill him.&#039;&#039;The king growled.<br /><br />``No.&#039;&#039;Sonic said,&#039;&#039;I&#039;ll kill you,if you don&#039;t leave.&#039;&#039;The King refused to listen.<br /><br />``I challenge the Sol King to his breeding grounds.&#039;&#039;The Arctic King said with a sneer.<br /><br />``Challenge accepted,&#039;&#039;Sonic said with a grin.<br /><br />\f<br /><br />Shadow and the others<br /><br />``Did that other merhog just challenge Sonic?&#039;&#039;Shadow asked as both merhogs squared off.<br /><br />``I think so.&#039;&#039;Tails said.<br /><br />&#039;&#039;I think this is where Sonic&#039;s been going.&#039;&#039;Silver stated the obvious,receiving another snack behind the head from Blaze and Amy.<br /><br />``Let&#039;s just hope he doesn&#039;t kill the other.&#039;&#039;Mephiles said frowning as he watched the fight unfold.<br /><br />Sonic&#039;s pov<br /><br />Damn,I feel so hot!?Sonic thought while he fought the other merhog who was trying to confuse him with no luck before they went in and smacked Sonic,with his tail.<br /><br />The Arctic King panted,waiting for the dust to settle,only to find Sonic hardly affected by the tail slap.<br /><br />``My turn.&#039;&#039;Sonic growled,swimming in a fast and tight circle around the Arctic merhog who managed to cut straight down the middle of Sonic&#039;s second tail.<br /><br />Sonic used a powerful tail smack,that stunned the other merhog.<br /><br />``You lost,and as merhog tradition goes,you must be marked with a scar.&#039;&#039;Sonic said angry that his second tail was now ripped into two,<br /><br />After the other merhog was marked,he,his Queen,and guards were kicked out.<br /><br />Once they disappeared from Sonic&#039;s sight,did the blue merhog relax before headed over to where a waterfall was.<br /><br />Sonic lay back up against the rock behind the fall,his face red with embarrassment, He&#039;d told himself multiple times he wouldn&#039;t do it but he did it anyways,but this time for a special reason.<br /><br />Making sure he was well hidden by the falling water,Sonic trailed his hand down towards where his member should be, slowly and carefully,Sonic stroked around that area,encouraging his member to come out.<br /><br />``Gah!&#039;&#039;Sonic gasped as to how sensitive he was,making himself more comfortable,Sonic then lowered his other hand into the water,but not going for his almost fully erect member,but to his other part.<br /><br />\fSonic couldn&#039;t help but imagine Shadow doing this to him,and somehow made the merhog want the naga more. Sonic stayed hidden in the waterfall,even though he was alone,he was still embarrassed.<br /><br />After and hour,Sonic finally left the waterfall,and towards another pile of rocks close somewhat close to the shore.<br /><br />Shadow and the others<br /><br />``Wonder what he&#039;s doing?&#039;&#039;Shadow said aloud as he saw the merhog go into the waterfall<br /><br />``I think we all are thinking the same,&#039;&#039;Tails said frowning,&#039;&#039;But it&#039;s none of our business.&#039;&#039; he added as they waited for the merhog to leave the waterfall.<br /><br />So while they waited,they played guessing games.<br /><br />``Hay guys!&#039;&#039;Mephiles said looking over the flying ship,&#039;&#039;Sonic finally left,&#039;&#039;They all nodded and started to make their way down towards Sonic.<br /><br />Shadow heard Sonic sigh,as the ship was lowered onto the ground,<br /><br />``Sonic?&#039;&#039;Shadow said the merhog&#039;s name softly<br /><br />\fThe merhog turned and faced his friends,&#039;&#039;W-w-what are you guys doing here?!?&#039;&#039;Sonic stammered as he fully turned to face them.<br /><br />``Sonic,you&#039;ve been disappearing to come here?&#039;&#039;Amy asked,looking around the beautiful place,the water was clear can constantly kept clean and warm,there was plant life growing on the outskirts of the small beach.which as filled with shells and living creatures.<br /><br />Sonic didn&#039;t respond,only flush as Amy&#039;s words.<br /><br />``Sonic you okay?&#039;&#039;Shadow asked,seeing the merhog&#039;s face go red.<br /><br />``This the the breeding the birthing grounds of my kind.&#039;&#039;Sonic explained,turning away.<br /><br />``Wait,really?&#039;&#039;Silver asked surprised.<br /><br />``Yes really,and I&#039;m in.....&#039;&#039;Sonic mumbled the last words.<br /><br />``You&#039;re in what?&#039;&#039; Silver asked.<br /><br />Sonic&#039;s face changed to multiple shades of red,&#039;&#039;I&#039;m in season,er heat!&#039;&#039;Sonic blurted out,making Shadow and the others blush,but mainly Shadow who&#039;s dreamed of the day where he&#039;d get to mate Sonic and make the merhog his, and only to find out throughout the entire time he knew Sonic,Shadow could of just followed him,or just of asked.<br /><br />By the time they all recovered from Sonic&#039;s words,the merhog had swam back to the waterfall,to embarrassed to talk to the others.<br /><br />``I&#039;m going to talk to him.&#039;&#039;Shadow said,changing into his naga form and slithered on top the water and pushed through the waterfall and came nose to nose,with a blushing merhog,Shadow blushed as well before moving to the side.<br /><br />``Sonic.&#039;&#039;Shadow started,&#039;&#039;You don&#039;t have to be embarrassed about this.&#039;&#039;Shadow said reaching out to the merhog.<br /><br />``Easy for you to say.&#039;&#039;Sonic said with his back to the naga,&#039;&#039;At least you don&#039;t have to deal with heat,&#039;&#039;he flustered at the the last few words.<br /><br />Shadow sighed and Shook his head,placing a hand on the merhog&#039;s shoulder who pulled away,&#039;&#039;Please just leave me alone...&#039;&#039;Sonic whispered. True blood merhogs are born white,and when they open their eyes,whatever color they see first will decide what the color of their scales and fur and quills will be.<br /><br />Sonic lay against his favorite rock,just relaxing the day away with little to nothing to do the ?Mephiles sailed over to the merhog. Over the past three months,Mephiles has been gather information on how fast and strong Sonic is,but the information kept on changing,as of now,Sonic was the size of a medium sized boat,give of take a few inches.<br /><br />``Hello Sonic.&#039;&#039;Mephiles said to the large merhog.<br /><br />``Another test?&#039;&#039;Sonic guessed. opening his eyes and looked up at the daywalker.<br /><br />``Yep,and it seems you strength and speed are still developing,and you should stop growing around the age of twenty-five,and by then you&#039;ll be almost as big as a large sized boat,but that&#039;s only an estimate.&#039;&#039; Mephiles said looking down at Sonic.<br /><br />``Mkay.&#039;&#039;Sonic said,&#039;&#039;What do you want me to do today?&#039;&#039;<br /><br />``Start here,and swim to the docks,then swim back here,we&#039;ll have to do this three times,as usual to find the average.&#039;&#039;Mephiles instructed the merhog.<br /><br />?Right.&#039;&#039;Sonic said as Mephiles readied his timer.<br /><br />\f<br /><br />?Ready when you are.&#039;&#039;Mephiles said.<br /><br />``Ready.&#039;&#039;Sonic said,giving the other a thumbs up.<br /><br />``Go.&#039;&#039;Mephiles said and watched Sonic swim off.<br /><br />They repeated this two more times and Mephiles wrote down the time. As the day bore on,and the testing continued,Sonic started to feel and sense a strange presence,as if someone or something was watching them,till Sonic finally voiced his concerns,&#039;&#039;I feel like something is watching us,well more me than you.&#039;&#039; Sonic said with narrowed eyes.<br /><br />``Could be Shadow.&#039;&#039;Mephiles said,brushing off Sonic&#039;s words.<br /><br />``I saw Shadow when I left the docks,as well as when you had me pushing your ship.&#039;&#039;Sonic said rolling his eyes.<br /><br />Mephiles looked surprised,&#039;&#039;Okay,it&#039;s your territory,you don&#039;t need to ask me to have a look around.&#039;&#039;he said smiling.<br /><br />``Alright,&#039;&#039;Sonic said swimming off. Sonic combed through his entire territory,unable to find the person that was watching him and Mephiles. Sonic hung out with his friends for the rest of the day and when night fell he swam down to the sunken ship where he now lived.<br /><br />With Shadow and Mephiles next morning<br /><br />There was a lot going on at the docks that woke up Shadow,``What&#039;s all the comotion?&#039;&#039;Shadow asked Mephiles as he came out of his ship.<br /><br />``It&#039;s Scourge.&#039;&#039;Mephiles said,&#039;&#039;He found a merhog,&#039;&#039;Mephiles didn&#039;t get a chance to finish.<br /><br />``Was it Sonic?&#039;&#039;Shadow asked,worried.<br /><br />``No,looks like an arctic merhog.&#039;&#039;Mephiles finished,&#039;&#039;We should warn the others.&#039;&#039;<br /><br />``You go ahead.&#039;&#039;Shadow said,&#039;&#039;I want to see it.&#039;&#039;before he headed towards the docks.<br /><br />``Scourge,&#039;&#039;Shadow said walking over to the green hedgehog,&#039;&#039;I see you caught a merhog,&#039;&#039;He said looking the at the merhog currently tapped in the net,&#039;&#039;but that&#039;s not the Blue Death.&#039;&#039;<br /><br />``I know,I&#039;m going to use this one as a bait.&#039;&#039; Scourge said smiling.<br /><br />\f<br /><br />``Hmm,&#039;&#039;Shadow hummed,&#039;&#039;Good luck with that.&#039;&#039;Shadow turned and walked away,waving a hand as he left.<br /><br />The Arctic merhog Shadow saw had light blue scales and had ember eyes,it was small,Shadow had assumed it was a female,but questioned as to why it was here as he sailed off.<br /><br />With Sonic<br /><br />Sonic had seen the Arctic merhog&#039;s capture,he knew it was a female just by her size and frame,and he did nothing to help her,even when she called out. He only responded by saying,&#039;&#039;Not my problem.&#039;&#039; before she was taken away.<br /><br />Sonic swam deep within the sea,which is something he usually never did until now,the dangers that are in the darkest part of the sea made the merhog curious.<br /><br />As the merhog went deeper,is got darker,and hard to see until a underwater volcano erupted for a short period of time,in that moment, Sonic saw something shining and swam to pick it up. Although he couldn&#039;t see it as well,he could feel it,and it felt like a book.<br /><br />Sonic was so distracted that he never noticed a large octopus about to wrap it tentacles around his tail until last moment.<br /><br />``WHAT THE FUCK!&#039;&#039;Sonic snapped,clawing at one of the eight tentacles. This octopus wasn&#039;t friendly in any way,so Sonic had to find a way to get it off of him,and fast. Sonic smirked as he saw another underwater volcano about to erupt. Sonic managed to make his way over to it,still holding the book.<br /><br />Once the volcano erupted,the octopus let go and fled,&#039;&#039;I&#039;m out of here!&#039;&#039;Sonic said swimming back to his home to look at the book.<br /><br />``Home sweet home.&#039;&#039;Sonic mumbled,passing the guard sharks and entered the ship and placed the book down on a desk before looking through the pages in shock,the book was about the history of the merhogs and sharks up to now.<br /><br />Sonic closed the book,the illustrations horrifyingly close to his memories.<br /><br />``Sonic?&#039;&#039;The merhog turned around and found himself face to face with Shadow.<br /><br />``Uh,yes Shads?&#039;&#039;Sonic said,closing the book.<br /><br />``What were you reading?&#039;&#039;<br /><br />\f``Don&#039;t worry about it...&#039;&#039;Sonic mumbled,putting the book away,&#039;&#039;Do you have something to tell me?&#039;&#039; he asked,looking at the naga as he swam his way towards the merhog.<br /><br />``You know you can tell me.&#039;&#039;Shadow said smiling at the merhog.<br /><br />``No,&#039;&#039;Sonic said sternly,&#039;&#039;And why are you here?&#039;&#039; He asked,changing the subject.<br /><br />``Well,there is a arctic merhog here.&#039;&#039;Shadow said as they both left the sunken ship.<br /><br />``I know,I saw Scourge catch her.&#039;&#039; Sonic said,stopping.<br /><br />``Well Scourge is planning to use that merhog as to bait you.&#039;&#039;Shadow explained.<br /><br />``So he can capture me,&#039;&#039;the blue merhog finished,&#039;&#039;Too bad for him it won&#039;t work,&#039;&#039;Sonic said in a sour tone,&#039;&#039;That arctic merhog can die for all I care,she got herself captured and it&#039;s not my problem.&#039;&#039; those words left Shadow in shock.<br /><br />``You just can&#039;t abandoned her,she&#039;s a merhog like you.&#039;&#039;Shadow said,stopping the merhog.<br /><br />``I don&#039;t care for the arctic merhogs,the only reason why she&#039;d be here is if her species are in trouble with the mersharks.&#039;&#039;Sonic explained,&#039;&#039;And besides,my species and theirs don&#039;t mix,at all and that&#039;s final.&#039;&#039;Sonic growled,moving around the naga.<br /><br />``Just because you species don&#039;t mix,doesn&#039;t mean you should abandon them!&#039;&#039;Shadow spat angrily.<br /><br />Sonic groaned in annoyance because he knew that Shadow was right,and he hated it when Shadow was right,&#039;&#039;Alright,but just this once!&#039;&#039;Sonic snapped,&#039;&#039;Where is she?&#039;&#039;<br /><br />``On Scourge&#039;s ship.&#039;&#039;Shadow responded.<br /><br />``I expect something in return.&#039;&#039;Sonic said with a lusty growl.<br /><br />Shadow&#039;s eyes widened before he responded,&#039;&#039;He he,&#039;&#039;He chuckled,knowing what Sonic meant.<br /><br />``And by that I just mean a kiss.&#039;&#039;Sonic added,&#039;&#039;Don&#039;t get pervy on me,&#039;&#039;he went silent,&#039;&#039;What happened at the breeding grounds,that didn?t mean much,but maybe soon it will.&#039;&#039;Sonic smiled before swimming off.<br /><br />And soon I&#039;ll make you mine. ?Shadow thought,watching the merhog swim away.<br /><br />Sonic looked around,trying to locate Scourge&#039;s ship,&#039;&#039;Help!&#039;&#039;He heard the arctic merhog&#039;s cries.<br /><br />\f``Ugh....&#039;&#039;Sonic said out loud,watching her struggle,&#039;&#039;What&#039;s your name?&#039;&#039;<br /><br />``Sonic asked,keeping his distanced from the boat.<br /><br />``I-i&#039;m Frost....&#039;&#039;She said,&#039;&#039;Y-you must be Sonic,the Sol King of warm seas.<br /><br />``Yeah,I am&#039;&#039;Sonic said crossing his arms,&#039;&#039;Now shut up.&#039;&#039;He growled as he moved under the net that held the other merhog,tearing a hole into it to allow he to escape.<br /><br />``Thanks!&#039;&#039;Frost said,kissing Sonic&#039;s cheek.<br /><br />``Don&#039;t.you.ever.do.that.again!&#039;&#039;Sonic growled,pushing the female merhog away from him before he swam into deeper waters followed by Frost.<br /><br />``Head back home.&#039;&#039;Sonic said,his back turned to the arctic merhog.<br /><br />``B-but I need your help!&#039;&#039;Frost cired.<br /><br />``I don&#039;t care!&#039;&#039;Sonic snapped,glaring at Frost.<br /><br />``But the mersharks have attacked my home! And you have had to deal with them for all of your life.&#039;&#039;Frost explained shyly.<br /><br />``What makes you think I&#039;ll help?&#039;&#039;Sonic said with narrowed eyes,&#039;&#039;You Arctic merhogs are too docile and naive to have any fighting much experience,&#039;&#039;Frost looked away from Sonic sadly,&#039;&#039;I&#039;m not risking my life for your species.&#039;&#039;Sonic said,swimming off.<br /><br />Shadow&#039;s Pov<br /><br />Shadow gripped his side,&#039;&#039;That was a cheap Knuckles,I wasn&#039;t even going to attack you!&#039;&#039; he hisses as blood freely fell from his wound.<br /><br />``I know,&#039;&#039;Knuckles said as Shadow fell down on all fours,&#039;&#039;Say hello to the sharks when you see em&#039;&#039;&#039;Knuckles said,kicking Shadow off his ship before sailing away.<br /><br />The smell of Shadow&#039;s blood attracted many sharks,but many of which swam away,unsure of what to do,so instead,sawm around Shadow&#039;s body as he sank deeper into the ocean.<br /><br />``What&#039;s going on over there?&#039;&#039;Sonic said out loud,seeing a large group of sharks circle something and was shocked to find out that is was Shadow. The sharks separated to give the merhog access to Shadow.<br /><br />\fSonic found Shadow&#039;s pulse to make sure he was still alive,which to the merhog&#039;s relief,he was. Sonic had no idea what to do until a memory came to mind and he was taken back to when he was young.<br /><br />``There was a time when a few merhogs fell in love with someone from another species,&#039;&#039;Aleena said smiling as interest sparked in Sonic&#039;s eyes,&#039;&#039;At first it wasn&#039;t accepted,but as time went on,and their love for each other grew,it became a common thing.&#039;&#039;<br /><br />``But what happened?&#039;&#039;Sonic asked,&#039;&#039;That can&#039;t all be it!&#039;&#039;<br /><br />``It isn&#039;t.&#039;&#039;Aleena said,pulling a book from a shelf,&#039;&#039;Long ago,&#039;&#039;She started,&#039;&#039;A merhog feel in love with a human,one day that merhog found that human drowning,and instead of taking them the surface for air,they kissed the human,making them turn into a merhog.&#039;&#039;<br /><br />``Lame!&#039;&#039;Manic said,rolling his eyes.<br /><br />``How&#039;d the human change into a merhog?&#039;&#039;Sonic asked,ignoring Manic&#039;s rude response.<br /><br />``No one knows,&#039;&#039;Aleena said flipping through the pages of the book before stopping on one,&#039;&#039;But from that day on,it was known as the kiss of the merhog, and the kiss comes from the heart.&#039;&#039;<br /><br />Sonic shook his head,realizing that Shadow&#039;s pulse was fading. ?But how is this going to save Shadow?&#039;&#039;?Sonic thought in frustration. ?I hope this works.??Sonic thought,kissing Shadow.<br /><br />The moment Sonic kissed the naga,a white light engulfed the entire water around them and disappeared when the kiss was broken.<br /><br />``S-Sonic?&#039;&#039;Shadow groaned the merhog&#039;s name,opening his eyes.<br /><br />``Glad you&#039;re still alive.&#039;&#039;Sonic said smiling.<br /><br />``What happened?&#039;&#039;Shadow asked,straightening up as he took his naga form.<br /><br />``I found you bleeding and sinking to the bottom of the sea.&#039;&#039;Sonic explained the whole thing and the memory and about the kiss,&#039;&#039;And it looks like the wound&#039;s gone as well.&#039;&#039;<br /><br />Shadow smiled at the merhog,&#039;&#039;So you do love me.&#039;&#039;He chuckled with a smile.<br /><br />``Shadow,I&#039;ve always loved you.&#039;&#039;Sonic said blushing.<br /><br />``Really?&#039;&#039;Shadow asked,wrapping his coils around Sonic,their faces only inches apart.<br /><br />\f<br /><br />``Yes.&#039;&#039;Sonic said with a nod,just before Shadow kissed him.<br /><br />Chapter Six<br /><br />A Merhog&#039;s needs<br /><br />``Hey Sonic.&#039;&#039;Frost said the warm sea&#039;s merhog&#039;s name for the tenth time that day.<br /><br />``No.&#039;&#039;Sonic grumbled crossly,&#039;&#039;Leave me alone for the tenth time!&#039;&#039;It was that time of year again,and Sonic was not in any mood to deal with Frost.<br /><br />``Sonic.&#039;&#039;Shadow said,surprising the merhog,&#039;&#039;Frost,&#039;&#039;He said nodding to the female merhog,&#039;&#039;Can you let us talk privately.&#039;&#039;<br /><br />``Um,sure.&#039;&#039;Frost said swimming away.<br /><br />``Oh thank god she&#039;s gone.&#039;&#039;Sonic sighed in relief as Shadow nuzzled the merhog.<br /><br />``It&#039;s that time of year again?&#039;&#039;Shadow asked cautiously,not knowing the merhog might respond harshly.<br /><br />``Yeah.&#039;&#039;Sonic responded,not looking at the naga.<br /><br />``You know you could always ask me for help.&#039;&#039;Shadow said with a smirk,making the merhog&#039;s face turn red.<br /><br />``I guess.&#039;&#039;Sonic responded,trying to calm his now rapidly beating heart,&#039;&#039;But I don&#039;t think I&#039;m ready for that yet.&#039;&#039;Sonic sighed,resting his head on Shadow&#039;s chest.<br /><br />``You&#039;re scared?&#039;&#039; Shadow asked,to which the cobalt merhog nodded,&#039;&#039;Don&#039;t be,&#039;&#039;Shadow said with a seductive smile,&#039;&#039;I&#039;ll be gentle.&#039;&#039;<br /><br />``If you say so.&#039;&#039;Sonic said,kissing the naga,&#039;&#039;But I don&#039;t feel safe here.&#039;&#039;<br /><br />``I know where to go.&#039;&#039;Shadow chuckled.<br /><br />``It could be overrun with mersharks!&#039;&#039;Sonic fretted making the naga sigh.<br /><br />``We won&#039;t know till we go.&#039;&#039;Shadow responded,pulling the merhog&#039;s arm.<br /><br />\f``Fine.&#039;&#039;Sonic sighed,letting Shadow take the lead till they reached the Arctic.<br /><br />``It&#039;s cold...&#039;&#039;Shadow said dryly as he and Sonic swam past ice chunks.<br /><br />``It&#039;s the Arctic,&#039;&#039;Sonic responded,looking back at the naga that was now swimming behind him,&#039;&#039;What did you expect?&#039;&#039;<br /><br />Shadow didn&#039;t respond as they travel through the icy maze and finally to the breeding grounds of the warm sea merhogs,&#039;&#039;No Arctic merhogs of mersharks.&#039;&#039;Sonic said smiling,shaking the chill of the arctic water from his scales and fur.<br /><br />``So.&#039;&#039;Shadow said,wrapping his coils around Sonic,&#039;&#039;Are you sure you want me to continue with this?&#039;&#039;He inquired,a worried expression on his face,&#039;&#039;You could become pregnant...&#039;&#039;The naga trailed off.<br /><br />``I don&#039;t mind.&#039;&#039;Sonic responded,&#039;&#039;As long as it&#039;s yours.&#039;&#039;He said with a smile,nuzzling Shadow.<br /><br />Shadow smiled and gave a nod,licking the merhog&#039;s face,&#039;&#039;You taste good.&#039;&#039;Shadow kissed the merhog&#039;s neck lovingly.<br /><br />``Ahh!&#039;&#039;Sonic gasped at the sudden texture of the naga&#039;s smooth fork like tongue on his neck.<br /><br />``Just relax.&#039;&#039;Shadow soothed the merhog,moving them behind the waterfall.
