Well, that's all, folks!! This was the last page that made it into Softpaw Magazine before the periodical went out of print. A lot of people asked me (and continue to ask me) if the comic will ever be "finished."
So, here's the scoop, once and for all:
After the success and popularity of this teaser, I always intended on making it a full stand-alone comic. At one point I even had an entire spreadsheet made with chronological timelines for all the characters involved, and I had expanded the universe, created new characters, even was going to have cameos of real actual furs in it. Since Jery Softpaw was paying for the whole thing to be made, it left Shiuk and I without any funding. At one point in 2009, I met a wealthy fan of the comic and he spur-of-the-moment offered to fund the entire thing, but unfortunately he proved to be ADD with his funds decision making, and very irresponsibly pulled me around by the nose before randomly pulling out of the project. Shiuk and I even began making preliminary layouts, sketches and rough-draft scripts for the first full issue, but it never got past that stage, and we parted ways once again.
Shiuk was always quite expensive, and he was more interested in taking pin-up commissions since they made him lots of money compared to a comic. He admitted the interest was never really there, so nothing ever materialized. Plus, he was always a bit afraid of the controversial true-to-life themes I wanted to bring into the fray. I was never interested in creating a mindless spooge comic without any redeeming significant social value. It needed to be done properly, have a solid foundation, have a dedicated staff, and be seen through to the end. I didn't want to half-ass it, in other words. I need to have an artist who is actually interested in helping make this a thing of value, and would be willing to go pro-bono with me until funding could be acquired. That has yet to occur.
Of course, those were the days before Patreon. If anyone knows an artist who would be willing to work in getting things going, who doesn't expect $1,000 per comic page, who actually has an interest in the theme, in professional comic book creation, well, perhaps something can materialize!
Hopefully that answers the question that's been on people's minds for years! I have a plan, need an artist, need money. Then good things can happen.
