There, they are greeted by Mabel and her parents. They exchange eye contact with one another before introducing themselves to each other, except for Zach, who remains silent during the whole greeting. \n“Flawed Fox,” the older woman spurts.\n“Dirty Delilah,” Zach says back.\n“It’s been so long…”\n“Yeah… Very long…”\nAmina faces her friend. “Zach, are you okay?” He nods. “We’re not going have issues come up, are we?”\n“I’ll be fine,” he says while keeping his gaze at the one who bore him. \n“Uh,” Melissa begins. “Why don’t we all get a table in the restaurant?” The group are led by the host and occupy a big, round table. Zach sits in between Amina and Melissa while his former mother and her husband are positioned across. Filling the gaps between them are Echo and Firework at one side and Mabel on the other. After the wait staff have tended to them and received their orders, they are then left alone to each other. Both Zach’s side and Delilah’s side glance over at each other for what seems like an eternity, followed by an extended period of silence. “Um, well,” Melissa starts again. “So, your daughter tells us you live in Crystal Lake. How is it there?”\n“Peaceful,” Delila responds. We moved there a couple of years ago from Heroto. We’ve had better opportunities and a good lifestyle over there ever since.”\nZach crosses his arms. “Of course, you have.”\n“What about you?” the husband asks Zach. “What do you do? Heard you were part of the Furton Task Force, right?”\nZach makes a smirk. “Yep. One of the top best of the team. I’m living my dream as a superhero, and sharing it with my family; me, my girlfriend, my kids, and my good friend here.”\n“Well,” Delilah spurts. “I have to say you haven’t changed too much. Which one’s your girlfriend?” Melissa raises her paw. “Ah yes, the daughter of Jack the Jackalope. I thought you’d settle for the red fox, being she’s part of your species.”\n“Hey,” Melissa begins. “I may be different, but I love Zach for who he is, and he loves me for who I am.”\n“Your kids are weird as well,” says the husband. “You consider this robot and dragon as your children? You get them from a toy and pet shop in the mall?” \n“I was made by Jack the Jackalope,” Echo tells him. “Built to serve children to teach them many lessons such as friendships and relationships. However, my design had been different than the other robots, casting me out. Zach and Melissa have discovered me, and they were the first to be my friends, eventually being family.”\n“Firework fled pack,” Firework joins. “Firework sick of other dragons pushing Firework away. Firework better with new family.”\nDelilah shifts to the red fox next. “And your story?”\nAmina keeps a flat-mouthed expression. “I’ve been a wanderer ever since my tribe has banished me. I’ve lived off of the forest on my own for years until I met Zach and his friends.”\n“Wow. Nothing but outcasts and rejects. Suits well for a flawed fox.”\nZach clenches his fists and eyes, yet relaxes his expression. “You’re just jealous because my life turned out way better when I left Heroto. I’m happy with who I’m with and where I am.”\n“I’m glad you’ve found your happiness,” comments Mabel. “It’s amazing how you’ve climbed up to where you are now.”\nDelilah looks at her daughter, as if silently displeased with her answer. Then, she faces Zach. “Whatever. It was your choice that brought you here.”\nZach retaliates, “If you knew I was here, why did you stay? Didn’t want to waste money on a ‘perfectly good vacation?’”\n“We had no idea you would be here, to be honest. I thought you were dead at first. Secondly, it’s none of your business to know why we came to Furton.”\n“Whatever. It was your choice that brought you here.” \nMabel grunts. “What are we even arguing for?” Everyone faces her. “This whole get-together was supposed to be time for us to get to know one another… I didn’t want everything to turn out like this… We’re all here, and we should be grateful that fate brought us together…”\n“Sweetie, listen,” the father starts. “You shouldn’t-”\n“No,” Delilah interrupts, letting out a sigh. “Mabel’s right… We should not be arguing… We went our separate ways and lived our lives based on the choices we made…” She faces Zach. “Perhaps, I owe you an apology… Might as well make amends before I die, anyway.”\nMelissa narrows one eye. “What do you mean by that?”\n“I’m sick…”\n“Zach mom look okay to Firework,” says the dragon.\n“I have kidney disease… I’m on the donor list, but there hasn’t been a suitable donor.”\n“Why can’t you let me give you my kidney, Mom?” asks Mabel. “Then you’ll have the transplant and get better.”\n“That’s very kind of you, Darling, but I can’t. You are too young to give any of your organs.” Mabel’s ears droop. “I’m sorry, my baby… I’m afraid there’s nothing we can do about it.”\n“Hold on,” the husband goes. “There’s still hope.” Delilah turns to him and asks what he means. “You do have another child; a fully grown child.” He then looks to Zach, who’s eyes open wider.\nThe fox with the blue bandana points to himself. “Me? I don’t know if we’re even a match.”\nEcho uses his sensors on both him and his mother. “Both your DNA are compatible with each other. You are both a match for organ transplant.”\n“You can help mom!” Mabel cries. “This is good!”\nZach crumples his mouth with disbelief. “Hold on a minute! This was not part of the meeting. We agreed to just get together and settle things.” \n“Please,” Delilah begins, getting up. “This would mean so much to me if you gave me your kidney.” She walks toward him. “I know I’m asking a huge sacrifice from you, and I probably don’t deserve it.”\n“I’m with you so far…”\n“However, it’s your decision, and I will respect it either way… But, it would be grateful if you gave me a second chance…”\nZach crosses his arms. “You never gave me a chance when you gave me up to the orphanage… Why should I give up one of my kidneys to give you a chance?”\nDelilah lets out a sigh. “I haven’t been the best mother to you, that’s true… I’ve made so many bad decisions and mistakes in my life… I know you don’t forgive me for them… But, I will make it up to you.” Zach continues his cross-armed, crumpled mouth look. “I will let you be a part of my life and my family’s life. I’m willing to compromise. Please… Zach…” Zach’s expression relaxes a little more upon hearing his name leave her lips.
