Amina is already up, working hard in the kitchen to create the perfect breakfast for her friends. The sweet aroma of food and sounds of sizzling lure Echo, Firework, and Cotton from their rooms and to the table.\n“Good morning, Children,” starts Amina. “Glad to see you are up. It’ll be a couple more minutes until breakfast is ready. Why don’t you both freshen up while we wait.” The three tired beings head for the bathroom to begin their ritual: Firework brushes his and Cotton’s teeth before moving on with the hair brush. Echo mainly uses a polishing tool for his mouth and whole body. After the red fox places the last of the prepped food down on the table, she heads over to the door at the end of the hallway and presses her knuckles against the door. “Zach, Melissa, breakfast is ready!” There is no answer. “Zach? Melissa?” She opens the door, causing light to pierce through the darkened room. Appearing into her view is Melissa, leaning up into bed with nothing but the blanket to cover her and her clothes strewn all over the floor. “Oh my!” \nMelissa gasps and pulls up the covers to her chin. “Oh, Amina… What is it?”\n“Just came to tell you breakfast is ready. Um… might I ask why you-”\n“Not important,” Melissa inserts, interrupting her. “I’ll be ready in a couple of minutes.”\n“And… what about Zach?”\n“He’s a bit hungover right now… I’ll wake him in a bit.”\nEcho and Firework emerge by Amina’s side, with Cotton on the dragon’s head. “What happened? I heard the sound of-” He and the dragon freeze and turn to surprise when they see Melissa. “Oh!”\n“Ah!” Melissa clutches the blanket tighter, forcing it closer to her body. “Don’t come in! Don’t come in!”\n“What Melissa doing?” Firework asks. “And why Melissa nakey?”\n“Just… Just please, go!” Echo and Firework does as they’re told and head back to the table. Amina goes to sit with them, advising them to eat before everything gets cold, to which the boys do. About five more minutes go by and the others are finally joined by a dressed Melissa and a groaning Zach, who is still suffering from the effects of a hangover. “Sorry about that.”\n“Morning, Zach,” Amina says to the orange fox. “How are you feeling?”\n“Like someone hit me over the head with a shovel,” Zach replies. “My head is killing me…”\n“Why?” asks Firework. “Why Zach have bad headache?” \n“Hangovers are unpleasant physical symptoms that appear the next day after drinking too much alcohol the day or night before,” Echo clarifies. “Symptoms can last 24 hours and generally peak when the blood alcohol level falls to near zero. Let’s just say it worked…”\n“What worked?” says a voice. The gang turn to the window to see the red imp appear before them. Because I’m not buying it.”\n“No… I heard Mom and Dad talking about staying a bit longer in Furton, and I thought it would be a good opportunity to get everyone together.”\n“And why would I want to do that? After everything she’s done to me…”\n“I know Mom’s been pretty tough and doesn’t want anything to do with you anymore, but maybe it’s time we put that all beside us.”\nZach turns away. “I still have a hard time believing she would even talk to me, after all these years.”\n“You should think about it, Zach.” Melissa walks over, joining the conversation. She puts a paw on his shoulder. “I know you and your ‘family’ are not on good terms…”\nZach looks to her. “What family?! My mother ditched me as a baby because she didn’t want me, and my father didn’t want anything to do with me either! Why should I forgive either of them?!”\n“Because, it’s not good to hold grudges!” The rabbit tells him. “I was the same way with my father, but I had to push past it! I’ve had more regrets than karma. You want to go on feeling that for the rest of your life?” She pauses for a bit. “Look, it may be crazy, but you should go through with this. It’s been a couple of years, and who knows? Maybe they’ve changed? You won’t know unless you take a chance.”\nZach sighs. “Maybe…” The fox faces his half-sister. “Go back and tell Delilah and your dad.” Mabel nods and heads off. \n“Well, this show died quickly,” comments Igor. “I was hoping you’d slam the door in her face or something more devilish.” \n“That not nice,” Firework says. “Never good to hurt people.”\nMelissa rubs Zach’s shoulder after Amina shuts the door. “You okay, Baby?”\n“I don’t know,” he responds. “I don’t know how this will be… But, perhaps you’re right… Maybe it’s best to let the past go and try to move on from the pain… I mean, I left Heroto behind to start a new and you’ve helped me look forward. No reason to stop that now, after all we’ve been through.
