Both are armed with staffs and wear the utility belts and goggles of the task force. Winnie is first to take a strike, charging toward her using her feet, but Emma knocks her down by tripping her with the staff and pointing it at the downed chicken. Winnie knocks it away with her weapon, clashing the metal sticks together. In the end, Emma knocks the weapon out of the chicken’s clutches and points the baton at her.\nLeon approaches the two women. “Nice try, Winnie. Maybe next time, you’ll be more prepared when it comes to outwitting your enemy.” The chicken grunts and goes to take a seat next to other trainees in line, who have some form of injury or broken equipment. Among them are Rachael and Kenny. Leon faces the group. “Anybody want a rematch with Emma?” There is no response from anyone. The lion then looks back to the warthog. “Emma, you advance more quickly than any student I’ve ever trained. You have proven yourself worthy among the task force, and you are ready to overcome anything! If only the others had the same will as you.” He then notices the rabbit and fox approach with cups of coffee in their grasps. “Ah, Zach, Ralph, how wonderful of you both to join us!”\n“Sorry we’re late,” Zach says. “The line was out the door at Pawbucks and one of the new girls under Melissa’s wing was being a bit slow.” He hands the lion one of the cups.\n“She a manager over there now?” Zach nods. “Well, good for her.” \n “What’s been happening, Chief?” asks Ralph.\n“Well, while you two were waiting on coffee, Emma here has demonstrated her abilities to the others. She has done remarkably well, and I’d say she’s about ready for anything.” \n“Oh?”\n“Yes. Would you like to see?” They both nod. “Then, I shall ask you step in to challenge her.”\n“Of course, Sir!” Zach spurts. “We’d be honored to witness our newest recruit’s abilities.”\n“Actually,” Leon continues. “Zach, can I see you in my office? Ralph, you shall be the one to duel Emma.”\n“Yes, Sir!” The rabbit joins up with the warthog and prepares for their little battle while Zach tails Leon into his office. \nThe lion makes sure Zach steps inside before closing the door. “Please, have a seat, Fox.” Zach does as he’s ordered, beginning to tremble for what’s about to come as Leon makes it to his desk to face the fox. “What’s wrong, Boy? You okay?”\n“I… don’t think like what’s about to come… If it’s about the coffee, I swear it wasn’t my fault… I’ll try and leave earlier… Unless, is my performance lacking…? I promise to do better… Or is it because some people reported me? Whatever it is, I won’t do it again!”\n“Relax, Son, you’re not in trouble of any sort. The reason I brought you in was to discuss your repeated requests to join the peacekeepers over at Heroto. I want to ask you; why do you want to go over there so badly? I thought you hated that place and didn’t want to return.”\n“I do… I know you said our job was to protect Furton, but I can’t help but feel useless not being over there… especially with everything I’ve been through… including Team Rescuers…”\n“I understand, Zach. I know how badly you want to help, but there’s a reason I’m excluding you from the mission. Perhaps it’s time I told you, anyway.” Leon places his butt into his chair and takes a sip of his coffee. “I’m sure you are familiar with the history surrounding Furton, correct?”\n“N-no, Sir… I don’t…”\n“Well, let me try and make this short and simple: Years ago, many animals had fled their homes to escape the horrors of war. Eventually, they traveled up the mountains and discovered many resources and found advantages to settling upon the plateau. These people, coming from all over, promptly worked together in developing a settlement protected by nature from adversaries, while using the surrounding forests, mines, and fertile land for economic benefits. Thus, Furton was found, and stood against many challenges.”\n“Um, okay…”\n“However, what everyone didn’t know was, building here came at a cost; discovering their new community to be in a hotbed of extraordinary activity: Portals would appear, opening into other dimensions and strange entities would spawn randomly, wreaking havoc in the newly-founded Furton. Individuals would also be overcome by paranormal feelings, turning them into mental criminals. As this activity increased greatly, we looked frantically for a solution to the problem. It mostly came down to me and Jack. Both of us had the idea of a force of specially-trained animals, tasked with eliminating these paranormal threats from the city.”\n“So, this is how the Furton Task Force was founded,” Zach utters.\n“Yes,” Leon continues. “And the first volunteers were hand-picked, talented individuals from different parts of the world. Among them were the wolf tribe’s youngest berserker, the elder monkey monks’ son from the jungle temples, an acrobatic sheep looking for a better life, a stray cat who used her talents for survival-”\n“Team Rescuers…”\nLeon nods. “And a few other animals alongside them as well. They were among the first members of the task force. We took them in from harsh, miserable lifestyles they had lived and made them into amazing fighters. The city cheered for them, praised them for their hard work and tireless efforts to keep peace. I even took the honor of having trained them and co-leading the most grateful team ever. But then, things began to change for the worst.”\n“What happened…?”\n“The teachings of their master had begun making their way into their minds. But, pride and glory would also fill their heads, replacing the true purpose of being in the task force within their minds. They took advantage of their reputations, taking things from the public as well as getting away with petty crimes. When news surfaced of their intentions, public opinion swayed against them, yet they wouldn’t have any of it. Then, one day, when they were chilling in a café, a little boy went up to them, asking for their autographs. Upon hearing the way he talked and finding out he had a mental disorder, the animals made him cry; belittling him, making fun of him, even bullying him. It was the final nail in the coffin for them as the entire city had turned against them, refusing to acknowledge them in any way. After that, they all dispersed and left, vowed never to return. We assumed they disappeared… perished into the woods… We were wrong… Four of them found another community to settle in, where they were welcomed and honored as heroes. There, they decided to be their own group, calling themselves ‘Team Rescuers.’ Through the years, they would go on to share their beliefs and ideologies taught by their old master who had passed on her teachings, sharing them with their new home and renaming this settlement in honor of them.”\n“Heroto…” Zach says. \n“Of course, Team Rescuers went around to various towns, to ‘purge the evils of the land’ as they said. They would also go after Jack, seeing him of high value when he left for Buscity and making a life of his own. Of course, he was one of the reasons behind the task force’s founding and those four being there; they blamed not only him, but also me, and all of Furton for their downfall. Not only that, they would go after people they deemed ‘at fault’ for a lot of things. After knowing Jack was at risk, I assigned four members of the task force to protect him and his family.”\n“Capital Corp… It all makes sense now…”\n“And now, you are in that circle, too, I’m afraid… I know you were part of their group in the past.”\n“But, that was before I knew all of this, Captain… I didn’t know what Team Rescuers did… I was only ten…” \n“Do not worry, it isn’t your fault. However, they now see you as an enemy, based on your past, reputation, and your background… I’m sure your friends are at risk as well… But I see you more than what you were judged; you are worth more than Team Rescuers or Heroto sees you as. It would be hard to lose a valuable member of the team.”\n“M-me?! Valuable?! R-really?!”\nLeon manages a smile. “Of course! You are a big help in the task force. You have proven them wrong. I do not want to risk losing you to a team I’ve trained years ago.”\n“If you think I should stay here to help defend the city, then your word is mine.”\n“Good.” With his phone beeping and vibrating, the lion looks at it to view the contents. “Oh, I don’t think it will be long before Team Rescuers make their way to the city…”\n“W-what makes you think so, Sir?”\n“I just got updates on the situation over in Heroto.”\n“Can you tell me?”\n“You sure you want to hear it?”\n“Being a task force member involves preparedness and being informed. I’m prepared to take any news that comes my way.”\n“Well, that’s bold of you.” Leon sighs. “Okay, I suppose you should know. You may not like this, however…”\n","writing_bbcode_parsed":"<span style='word-wrap: break-word;'>At the gym in the Furton Task Forces&rsquo; base, Emma takes her stance and glares across the other side at Winnie, who is in anticipation of what the warthog may do.
