"writing": "The two friends are sat in front of their cabin on the steps, still saddened from the events that took place in the cafeteria. The incident had left them a smudge within the camp, and now they’ve become fearful that the children may not want them around. Echo and Firework abstain from being in any activity now… until today.\nFirework lets out a big sigh as his ears droop beside his head. “Firework not like it here… Firework want to go home…”\n“Me too, Bud,” Echo responds. “But, we can’t… We’re stuck here for the summer. It doesn’t look like we’ll be making friends after all… But hey…” He puts his hand on the dragon’s back. “Look at it this way… At least we have each other, right?”\n“Yeah…” Firework lifts his bag and opens it to show the purple fluffball. “And Cotton, too…”\n“And Cotton, too,” repeats the robot. The sound of the whistle catches their attention as it the scoutmaster calling all campers to him. Echo stands to his feet. “Looks like Scoutmaster Buck’s wants us.” He faces the dragon. “Shall we go?”\n“Firework not want to join other kids… They mean to Echo and Firework…”\n“I know, but we have to report to the scoutmaster.” Echo offers his hand to him. “Come on, Buddy.” With a sigh, Firework takes his hand and pulls himself up. Ruffling the bushes causes them to quickly turn to the shrubs nearby. \n“Huh?” Firework narrows one eye. “What that?” He takes notice of the bush moving. “Yeep!” The dragon jumps into the robot’s arms. “Bush moving!”\n“Calm down, Scaredy-Dragon,” Echo assures him. “It’s just a small animal. There are plenty of those around the camp.” The whistle blows again. “Come on.” He sets Firework down. “Let’s get going.” The two then go together, joining the others around the scoutmaster at the center of camp. \nScoutmaster Buck performs roll call from his clipboard, making sure everyone’s accounted for, before lowering it to address them. “Good, everybody’s here. Okay, Campers! Hope you all are getting nice and comfy here in Divine Pines, because for about two hours every day, we will be starting to learn the skills of survival in the woods. For this, we will begin with a run-down of the danger of the woods and safety.” He goes on and lectures about the dangers of the wilderness, teaching the children all there is to know about what’s out in the forest. Buck finally instructs the kids on the tasks and projects they will be assigned to do in preparation of camping out in the woods, such as creating a fire, building a shelter, how and what to collect for food and water, and security. “It is always important to know what’s out there and be prepared. Should something happen, you must be able to take on the problems and surprises head on. Now, let’s move on to our next activity. It will help you learn the first steps toward survival.” He leads the kids to a clear spot in the camp, where there are several fragments of equipment and canvas materials. “The first step in survival is shelter. When out in the wilderness, you will need to know how to build a place to sleep under. Here, we have numerous tents for you two string up and practice. For this, you will be paired with a buddy. Partner up.” Some of the children have already chosen their partners, including the rat pack. Echo and Firework stay together for the assignment. “Now, you have instructions on what to do to set up your tent. You shall begin now.” He stands aside to let the kids work on their projects. \nEcho and Firework look over the instructions. The robot scans the paper, downloading the contents onto his computer to visualize the directions. The two then waste no time working together on setting up their tent. Echo then turns to the sound of grunting beside him. Firework notices and looks as well. The two friends see a short, cyan mouse with green eyes in uniform struggling to put together his tent. His hair fluffs out from his hat like toothpaste squirting out of a bottle. His partner is a yellow and purple bumble bee who is also in uniform as well. Both toil with their project, as no progress is getting done. The robot and dragon look at each other for a brief moment before they nod to each other, agreeing with their thoughts. They stop what they’re doing and leave their tent.\nEcho starts over to the two small campers with the dragon beside him. “Need some help?” The bee and mouse look over at the robot. “You two seem to be needing assistance.”\nFirework smiles. “Let Echo and Firework help.” The mouse and bee allow the two friends to aid them in setting up the shelter, guiding them on what to do and performing any hands-on support needed. With additional hands, the four put up the tent in a matter of two minutes. Echo and Firework then return to their tent to finish up before the scoutmaster calls for the end of the assignment.\n“Okay,” Buck starts. “I am happy to see that most of you were able to put up your tent with no trouble. Some of you struggled, but with some help, you have succeeded. You should be proud of yourself, Campers!” He raises his arm to look at his watch. “And I’d say we’re just about finished with this morning’s activity. So, enjoy the rest of the time off, and I will see you for the afternoon.” Most of the kids split off from the group. Echo and Firework are just about to head off when they are stopped by the scoutmaster. “Wait, I want to talk to you two.” Echo’s colors change to orange as Firework’s ears droop, curious to what their leader has to say. “I want to tell you that I’m proud of the both of you. You helped those two other kids with their project when they struggled with it. I know you are both struggling to fit in and make friends, but don’t let it bother you. If you continue to help others, they’ll be nice enough to be around with you.” The buck then leaves the robot and dragon.\n\n*** \nDuring lunch period, the robot and dragon spend time at the table alone, enjoying their meals as they talk about slightly warming up to the camp. \n“Hey,” utters a voice from close by. The two friends look to the source and see the two kids they had helped before, armed with their lunches. “We want to thank you for helping us with our tent,” says the bee. “But, why did you help us? You didn’t have to, yet you did…”\n“Bee and mouse needed help,” says Firework. “Firework and Echo help. It not right to see others struggle.”\n“Yeah,” the mouse responds. “But, why help others when they made fun of you?”\n“It is what it is,” Echo tells him. “But that doesn’t mean we can ignore everybody and be selfish. Even when others think differently, we try and do the right thing.”\n“It doesn’t make sense, though… Why?”\n“How the campers view us is not the first time we’ve been judged. In Firework and my pasts, we’ve been pushed aside and abandoned.”\n“When others in need, Echo and Firework think of us,” Firework adds. “Not right to see others suffer after what Firework and Echo went through.”\n“Oh,” utters the bee. “We’re sorry… We didn’t realize what you’ve been through. Where are my manners? I’m Nectar, and this is mouse is my friend, Cyan.” The mouse waves and says “hello” to them. Echo and Firework introduce themselves. \n“Hey,” Cyan goes. “Is it okay if we sit with you? That is, if you’re okay with it…” Echo and Firework look at each other before turning to the two and nod, accepting them. \n“You two new here?” asks Echo. They nod. “How is camp going for you?”\n“Not too comfy,” Nectar tells him. “We’ve been rejected by the other kids, including those rodents who call themselves the ‘rat pack’.”\n“Firework and Echo know about rat pack,” spurts the dragon. “Firework pranked hard by rodents… Rat pack not like Echo and Firework.”\n“They look at everybody differently than themselves… They believe they are better. So, arrogant and judgmental. In fact, when Cyan and I asked to join them, they just refused and turned us away. So, other than each other, we really don’t have many friends…” The insect detects movement in the dragon’s backpack. Upon close inspection, he sees the gold-eyed creature within. “You guys have a fluffball?!”\nFirework quickly places his paw on the flap of the bag to hide Cotton. “Firework not know what Nectar talking about. Firework have no fluffball.”\n“I saw him in your bag. You’re hiding him.”\nFirework sighs. “Firework brough Cotton because Firework didn’t want to leave Cotton behind.”\n“Cotton is our companion,” Echo states. “And he’s now with us thanks to Firework. Please don’t report this to us. We’ve got enough problems already.” \n“Hey, it’s okay,” Cyan tells him. “We won’t say a word. He’s actually pretty cute.”\n“Would Nectar and Cyan like to be friends with Firework and Echo?” asks Firework. “Echo and Firework like having friends.”\n“Sure,” says Nectar. Cyan agrees. “We’re okay with it.” The four smile and enjoy their lunch.\n",
