And to think Zach was finally about to move on. He was getting better as he had his new friends and family, but now, he’s lost it all… again. Fortunately for him, he’s not the only one getting the blame. When it was discovered that Kenji had caused the fire, Ezma gave him a very hard time and punished him. How does it help Zach, though? Actually, it doesn’t… Zach was once again labeled as the freak riolu causing accidents when all the pokemon saw him drop the torches that spread around him, yet were put out. Though, they have seen Kenji bounce off the riolu and hit the roof. Who do you blame? The monferno who is an experienced expeditioner and has served with a guild, or the riolu who’s had a history of accidents and has turned his life around? \nAnyway, let’s move on. Besides, the story’s about to get more interesting. Team Rescuers are in a fenced-off sky port on a hill beside the town opposite of their base. The gang gather supplies and load them up into what appears to be a wooden sloop ship with large canvas balloons strung on top of it. This, in fact, is a “zeppelin” and it is one of the modes of transportation used by the pokemon in this world. \nAs they team are loading up the airship, a lone pokemon approaches them. It’s the jackal wearing the infamous blue bandana. He walks straight up to the mew as she’s staring at the clipboard up high, obscuring her view. \nWhen she takes notice of the black legs, she lowers the list to reveal the riolu to her. “Well, I’ve assumed you’d be coming here to us. Any reason you’re here?”\n“Yeah,” Zach spurts, sounding very displeased. “I want to have a word with you about your monferno! In fact, I want to have a word with you about your entire team!”\n“I already took care of it,” she tells him. “I yelled at Kenji and made sure everyone else understood the same.”\n“That doesn’t change anything, Ezma! I was actually doing much better until you guys showed up, and the whole fire incident took place. I’m also not pleased that Leafy Creek blames me for it, too. I demand you fix this and at least help me, like you do with everyone else!”\n“Now’s not the time to discuss this, Zach!” Ezma shouts at him. “We have to get everything ready when we leave.”\nZach’s expression relaxes a little. “Leave? Where are you all going?”\n“Far away from you,” Jay adds, passing by and heading aboard with a crate in his arms. “That’s for sure.”\n“That’s not our business to discuss it,” Ezma continues. “It’s really important to us and we need to make sure we’re on schedule.”\n“Whatever,” Zach says. “I don’t care what you do anymore, as long as it’s away from me. You’ve ruined my life twice and now I’ve got a huge mess to clean up. I’m done with you all. It’s going to be hard for me to move on, but I’ve got to try. Goodbye, Team Rescuers…” He starts heading away from the area and towards the gate entrance. Just as he’s about to exit, he’s stopped by a crowd of pokemon. “Huh? What’s going on here?” The large group shout and yell at him. Some are armed with tools from their places of work. The pokemon are, you guessed it, an angry mob! They’re fed up with Zach and his accidental tendencies. Zach shows his paws to them and backs away. “Hey, easy now… It wasn’t my fault… I didn’t start the fire at the circus… I swear!” The pokemon deny it, and reference his behavior when he was in Team Rescuers. “I’ve learned a lot since then, though! I’m no longer with them!” The mob doesn’t buy into it. As the riolu backs up, Team Rescuers take flight and head out, leaving him to deal with the crowd.\nAs the mass get closer to him, Zach’s leg gets caught up in the rope as he’s backing up. The line, which is attached to the blimp, yanks him away and hoists him into the air. “Whoa!” The riolu is now dangling upside down with his limb tangled in the cable. “Help! Somebody, please help!” His shouting grabs the attention of Team Rescuers, who hear his cries from above.\n“Zach?!” screams Miffy. “What in Arceus are you doing down there?!”\n“That’s a very stupid question!” Zach cries back. “I mean, do you not see my leg caught up in this rope?!” \n“Clearly,” Ezma adds. “Seems like you wanted to come with us, which doesn’t surprise me!”\n“Hey, guys,” Casey starts. “He’s really got himself dangling into trouble this time, right?” He snickers.\n“Just get me down from here!” The riolu yells. \n“Well, you heard him,” says Cindy. “Better cut him down.”\n“Hurry up!” Zach continues. “I’m very uncomfortable with-” He looks below him to see he’s way up high. “Heights!!!” He covers his eyes. “Oh no!!! Uh, on second thought, just pull me up!” \nEzma sighs. “Hang on, Zach!” She gets by the edge and prepares to fly down. “Okay, now when I fly down there, I want you guys to-” Gar Gar uses his claw, struggling to cut the rope supporting the riolu. “Don’t cut him down yet!!!” The gligar freezes, but it’s too late. \nThe cable snaps and the jackal pokemon falls into the forest below. Fortunately, he crashes into a lake to save him from falling. His body sinks deeper as he turns to face his head to the top. Holding his breath, the riolu paddles hard and struggles to the surface, but the rope tangled in his leg gets caught in some rocks below, making it difficult for him to swim up. The riolu manages to get his leg free and hurries to the surface. He’s just three quarters to emerge when he ceases. He reaches out with both paws toward the light when he can no longer hold his breath anymore. His eyes begin to close and his body slowly sinks back to the bottom.
