He even tries to prove to Leafy Creek that he’s more than just a screw-up; that he can learn and be an incredible Team Rescuer to save lives and help others. It’s all a combination of prejudice, discrimination, and bias. Do all of these negative attributes seem familiar? Because it’s the nature of a “certain race” of beings that you and I happen to be... I wonder what that species of imbeciles could be… Oh well, let’s get back to the story, shall we?\nZach struggles with trying to communicate with the others. No one wants to speak with him or even be near him, but he tries. Not even the guild master, Ezma, wants him to be around. After all, she is his guardian, right? Well, not in her eyes, she’s not. \nThe sun has already disappeared under the ground and been replaced with the moon. It is now nighttime in the village of Leafy Creek. Zach is strolling down the hallway, humming a little tune to himself, when he stops in place to see Miffy and Gar Gar before him. “Oh, hello, Gar Gar! Hey, Miffy!” He bears a smile to stay sincere. “Having a nice evening?” The two say nothing and proceed to go by him. Zach’s smile disappears. “W-what’s going on? Did I say something bad?” He turns his head and spots the monferno headed his way. “Kenji! How’s it going?” Kenji shoots him a mean look before walking past him. “Uh, heh heh, later then…” The next pokemon he sees is Jay. “Yo, Jay.” He stands in front of him. “What’s doing?”\nThe buizel pushes the riolu away from him. “Out of the way, Retard Riolu!” Jay continues away.\nZach, having a look of disbelief, stares down the hall. “What’s gotten into everyone? Did I do something wrong?” He traces the path of the pokemon up to a doorway with a curtain separating it. Behind the curtain, he hears the clutter of loud voices. “What’s going on behind there…?” Zach takes a peek to see all of his teammates around the table with Ezma at the head. He remains behind the curtain, out of sight, wondering what they could be talking about.\n“I’m so sick of that riolu!” shouts Kenji. “He’s always messing things up and we’re taking the blame for it!”\n“Yeah!” agrees Casey. “Every time we try and do the right thing, he’s always there to screw it up! All of our hard work for nothing!”\n“How’d we ever get stuck with raising a worthless pokemon like him?” Cindy asks. “Why’d we have to carry the burden?!”\n“Calm down, everyone!” Ezma states, keeping the meeting in order. “I understand we’re all sick and tired of Zach’s shenanigans.”\n“Sick and tired?!” repeats Jay. “We’re more than that, Guild Master. We’re frustrated and pissed! Every day, it’s the same; nag us to train him, harass us to try and be his friend, thwart our plans… Enough is enough!”\n“I understand,” Ezma answers. “I shall talk with him and have him come to reason.”\n“Ezma, that’s not going to work!” utters Gar Gar. “No matter what you tell him, he’s going to brush it off and act like nothing ever happened!”\n“How much longer do we have to watch him?” Miffy queries. “I really don’t want to put up with this anymore.” Everyone else agrees with her.\n“The riolu’s got to go!” Cindy adds.\n“Order, People!” shouts Ezma. “Now, I know you all feel he should go, and you shall be relieved to learn that his time with us is very near.”\n“What do you mean by that?” juts Kenji. “Are we booting him out finally?!”\n“Well,” Ezma continues. “Not exactly… I have learned from my friend, Lana Latias, that the guild masters and their teams are all gathering here to watch us as we perform our exercises to see how well we’d be in real combat. Once they see Zach screw up, they shall have him vacated from the base and deemed ‘unfit’ as an expeditioner. When that happens, we won’t have to worry about him anymore.”\n“So, let me get this straight,” Gar Gar starts. “If Zach messes up in front of the entire committee, he’s done?”\n“It’s more than you think,” Ezma tells him. “Zach has to prove to them that he’s not competent to make it as a Team Rescuer. And with everything he’s done circulating around town and outside, everyone points to him for being the cause. Just leave him to mess up, and that shall take care of him once and for all. I have to be strong… I’ll prove them wrong… I’ll show them that I really do deserve to be on this team! I just need to practice more and get it right!
