Before her are two blue-uniformed animals, complete with shiny badges and holstered weapons around their waists. Echo, Firework, and Cotton are close together in front of the well-dressed figures.\n“Ma’am, are these your kids and pet?” asks one of them. Melissa confirms it and asks what happened. “These two caused a bit of trouble; running around a candy store and pulling pranks of people. It was then we saw them flying through the city and crashed in a nearby alleyway. We have a law against flying in the city, as it’s a huge safety concern.”\nZach walks up behind the rabbit and looks over her shoulder. “How did you know to bring them here, Officers?” \n“We’ve scanned their I.D. cards and pinpointed their residence to here.”\n“We’re not going to jail, are we?” asks Echo, blue with a frown.\n“Firework not want to go to jail,” spurts Firework. “Firework terrified.”\n“Oh, don’t worry,” the officer tells them. “You won’t be taken to jail. The law states we cannot charge juveniles for small issues, as long as they’re not recurring. Though, I am wondering why you both are not in school.” \n“Much apologies, Officers,” Melissa tells them. “We’ve only been in Furton for a couple of days. We immigrated here after leaving Buscity.”\n“We understand, Ma’am. We just want to make sure that nothing like this happens again.”\n“Don’t worry, Officers. We’ll make sure they won’t get into trouble ever again.” She shoots a mean glare at the robot and dragon, who look down at the floor with sadness as they enter the apartment. Zach shifts over to allow them to walk in.\n“Take care, Ma’am. You have a good day.” The officers turn and leave. \nPassing them is Amina, who returns and enters into the apartment before Melissa closes the door. “My sincere apologies for being out too late.”\n“Amina, where have you been? I thought you were with the boys at the park.”\n“I was, until I ran into an old friend… Before I talk about it, what were those uniformed animals doing here?” \n“The police? Why, they brought Echo and Firework back here because of some trouble they got into.” The rabbit, paws on her hips and containing her mean glare, looks at the two kids. “What were you two thinking?”\n“Firework sorry,” says the dragon, keeping his head down and ears drooped. “Firework wanted to hang out with Echo… Wanted to spend time and go crazy… Firework not know about flying ban either…” \n“I told him it was all a bad idea,” utters Echo, blue in his emotion. “I’m ashamed, though, because I was with him… We did not mean to cause disappointment in you.”\n “You could’ve got us in so much trouble… If so, we would’ve been deported.” The dragon and robot express their apology and continue to stare at the floor. Cotton whimpers, feeling their mood. Melissa sighs. “Look, just don’t do anything like that again… okay? Besides, you could’ve been badly hurt…” The kids nod. “Now, come and sit,” the rabbit orders. “I’m in the middle of cooking dinner.” Echo and Firework amble to the couch of their bed and sit. Zach and Amina turn to them with concern. \nAmina faces Melissa, who sits next to Zach. The red fox looks at them both and begins to start a new subject. “So, how was the first day of work for you two?” \n“Awkward,” Zach goes first. “I was working alongside Karma. He kind of made me a bit uncomfortable…” Amina asks what he means. “He was talking about how lucky I am to have you and Melissa as “hot, smoking babes” by my side.”\n“Well, that’s quite strange,” Melissa adds. “Why would he strike up that conversation?”\n“I have no idea,” Zach says, turning to Melissa. “Besides, you are the one I love.” Melissa looks to the side, blushing. “Your day couldn’t’ve been as awkward as mine, right?”\n“Oh, it was,” the rabbit utters, shifting her head back at him. “Tara found out I am the daughter of the famous jackalope. She just kept on talking. Wanted to know why I wasn’t living in the manor anymore and I shouldn’t have left because we were rich… What does she know?”\n“Speaking of which,” interrupts Amina. “I wonder if he’s all right. We haven’t had contact with him since the attack at Buscity Station.” \n“He’s probably fine,” Melissa tells her. “Dad’s got Capital Corp to defend him. Anyway, I’m not so sure of Tara, though.”\nEcho turns to Amina. “So Amina, how was your time with Nerelia?” Zach and Melissa look at the red fox and ask her who Echo means.\nAmina starts to explain to the fox and rabbit about the squirrel girl. “Nerelia’s an old friend of mine. We were separated long ago, and then I finally found her here in Furton. After spending time with her, I learned she lives alone, struggling to get by. She and I have gotten closer than we ever did before, and I think I really like her. \n“Aw,” comments Melissa. “How sweet.”\n“But,” Amina continues. “A lot has changed since we last been together… I just… don’t know what to do. I don’t feel comfortable with it.”\n“It okay,” Firework assures her. “Amina should be with squirrel girl.” Echo and Cotton agree.\n“I don’t know… I’m unsure about all of this…”\n“Hey, I’m not sure about everything we’ve been through, either,” Zach joins in. “But, what other options do we have? It’s not like we can move again or choose who we want to be friends with… We’re here, and we need to stick with what we’ve got for now. Even if it means doing things we don’t want to do.” \n“Hm…” Melissa puts her paw on her chin. “That also reminds me. Maybe it’s for the better we do what those cops said…” Amina and Zach ask her by what she means. “We should enroll Echo and Firework in school.”\n“School?!” Firework smushes his cheeks with his paws. “Firework don’t want school… Not good place… No…”\n“I don’t need to go to school,” Echo explains. “I am a robot… I have plenty of knowledge in my hard drive.”\n“You heard what the police officers said,” Melissa addresses the kids. “If they think you should be within the halls of learning, then we should send you to school.” \n“Yes,” Zach adds. “Better to be in school and out of trouble than the other way around.”\n“Come on,” Firework complains. “Amina never go school, though…”\n“It was different for me,” Amina tells him. “I learned things on my own. It was difficult, and it took a lot of time. You don’t want to end up like me.” \n“I don’t understand why I have to go, too,” Echo questions. “Robots have no need to go to school.”\n“True,” Zach tells him. “But, you’re built to be like a kid… And it’s in your programming to be with children.”\n“So, it’s final,” Melissa states. “We will enroll Echo and Firework in school starting tomorrow.” Both Echo and Firework let out a long “aw” in unison. The dragon’s ears droop with defeat as the robot’s eyes and screens glow blow. \n“Don’t think of it as a bad thing,” Zach assures them. “You may do better in school than I did… You may make friends and do fun projects, better than my days of school.”\n“Same with me,” Melissa reckons. “My school days weren’t as good, either.
