Echo and Firework scan around, amazed at the row of stores lined down the wide hallway bustling with other animals as they amble around.\n“What’s up with you two?” asks Melissa, smiling. “You act like you’ve never been to the mall before.”\n“I’ve never been outside of the facility,” Echo says. “This place is quite big and busy.”\n“Firework never seen mall,” Firework utters. “Very big place.” \n“I would come here a lot,” Melissa starts. “Daddy would always be working, so I come here alone. I usually browse at the stores with girl things, but I don’t really buy anything, really. There are several dresses I find pretty and dashing, but I’m not getting them.”\nZach turns to her. “Why don’t you buy them? You’re loaded. You can afford all those things.”\n“It’s not a monetary problem. I wouldn’t be impressing anyone if I bought dresses and fancy clothes. I want to impress people, but everyone thinks I’m a- what Hal called me back at the park…”\nZach places his paw on her shoulder, catching her attention. “You’re not that… Hal was only trying to hurt you, and it worked. I know what it’s like to be bullied. Their goal is to hurt you while gaining power as they do.”\nFirework’s ears droop as he takes his tail. “Firework know feeling…” Echo changes blue and places his metal hand on the dragon’s back for comfort. \n“But, we’re here at the mall, and we should forget all that,” Melissa tells them. “Let’s go look around, shall we?” The gang starts walking down. They pass several busy stores blasting different kinds of music; from classical to modern. Some accessories and items catch each of the gang’s eyes, tempting them to walk over. The robot and dragon notice a pet store next to the shirt stall and run over to view small, colorful, fluffy creatures with pointy ears and curly tails. The sign above them says “Fluffballs” as they are displayed in the window. Echo and Firework press up against the glass and view them with glee, causing Zach and Melissa to stop in place. Melissa, on the other hand, notices a t-shirt at the stall with a rather eye-catching design: a hyena with boxing gloves with his thumbs up as it stands beside an unconscious, beaten-up fox next to it. The rabbit then looks at Zach, noticing slight bruises on his back. “Zach…” Zach turns his attention to her as they walk. “I want to apologize about what happened in the park… I never meant for you to get hurt and I feel so bad about what happened… And after what he said back in the park, don’t take it literally…” Zach asks her what she means. “When he came up to us, he was trying to convince you into thinking I was just using you to impress people… That isn’t true, Zach! He’s lying… I really feel sorry for what you’ve been through and you’re the sweetest fox I ever met. Don’t let that hyena get to you, please…”\n“Melissa…” Zach walks up to her. “It’s okay… I don’t take him seriously… He was only trying to belittle you by saying that. You’re a nice rabbit, perhaps the nicest, friendliest animal I’ve ever met. And you’re a great friend.” He caresses her cheek to comfort her, as well as bend his mouth in a smile for an extra cheer. “You’ve been the only one there for me, and I couldn’t have asked for better.”\nTears begin to stream down Melissa’s eyes, but her mouth reflects Zach’s. “Aw, Zach!” She quickly lunges forward and wraps her arms around him, locking the fox in a hug. Zach doesn’t hesitate for a second as he wraps his arms around her in return. \nAs they lock in with a hug and become busy with comfort, they are blind to Echo and Firework, who enter the store and proceed to the fluffy creatures they had stumbled upon. The little fluffballs excitingly group over to the two to greet them, except for one; a lavender-purple fluffball with dark blue ears and a coiling tail drooping downward as it remains far from the pack that’s up in at the robot and dragon front and centered. Its bright yellow eyes point down at the pen’s floor, half-opened showing sadness. \nEcho pinpoints his eyes at the lone fluffball. “That purple fluffball looks sad. I wonder why he does.”\n“The purple one’s upset because he has no family,” utters a St. Bernard dog beside the robot and dragon. “He’s been separated from the pack and put here in the store. The other fluffballs don’t find him very interesting, so he’s largely ignored. I’m surprised no one has come to adopt him. He’s been looking for some nice, wide-open space. Oh well.” He turns and walks away. \nFirework’s ears droop, reflecting the fluffball’s emotions. “Firework understand fluffball… Firework know what it like…” He reaches his paw out and pets the purple creature. The fluffball hesitates slightly, but accepts the dragon’s paw stroking its head. “Firework wish can adopt fluffball… Firework would take good care of fluffball…” \n“I would, too.” Echo turns with an orange color, noticing Zach and Melissa facing him. He the pivots to Firework. “Firework, Zach and Melissa are waiting for us. We must go.” Firework keeps his eyes fixed on the fluffball as Echo yanks his arm. “Come, Firework!” With enough strength, Echo manages to pull Firework out of the store and regroup with the fox and rabbit. “We are ready to move on.” He follows the two animals with Firework tailing him. The grey dragon looks back at the purple fluffball by the window one last time as the fluffball glances back at him. Both donning a frown on their faces and drooped ears before parting. \nAs the dog returns to the fluffball pen, he notices the purple creature has vanished. “Huh?! Where’d the purple one go now?!” He looks around the store. \n*** \n\nLunchtime rolls around, prompting the friends to seat themselves at a table in the middle of the food court. Melissa asks each of her friends what they would like to eat. They go around, giving her an answer before she leaves the table and heads up to the vendors. \nZach faces Echo. “I didn’t know you eat and drink, Echo.”\n“I take in food to process into energy, like you,” the robot tells Zach. “It is one way I can produce energy. Another is to recharge by sleeping.”\n“Whoa,” Firework comments. “Firework never met a robot with needs.”\n“Jack, my creator, wanted specific features when creating me. He wanted me to be close to living creatures as a way to better befriend my masters. However, I do require oil from time-to-time.”\n “It’s interesting,” adds Zach. “Jack did intend to make robots for children. Which makes me wonder…”\n“Here we go!” Melissa exclaims happily, returning to the table and placing a tray with several wrapped burgers, boxes of fries, and soda containers in the center of the flat surface. “Lunch is served.” She reads off the list on everyone’s orders. After reading off the list, she grabs the last food items and places it in front of her. “Dig in.” The gang are all anxious as they unwrap their burgers quickly before picking them up to bite into them. \nAfter a few bites and sips, Firework reaches to his box of fries to take some. He looks over after a couple of missed swipes and realizes the box has been emptied out. “Who take Firework’s fries?!” \nMelissa looks at him. “You eat them already?”\n“Firework did not have any,” the dragon says. “All missing.” He lets out a gasp when he feels something jump onto his lap. “Oh!” Firework looks down and becomes shocked to what’s nestled in his legs. Its yellow eyes look directly into the grey dragon’s blue ones with a smile. “What…? No way…” Firework grabs the purple creature and picks him up in his paws. “How fluffball got here?”\n“Hey you!” The St. Bernard from before marches up to the group. “What’s the big idea?!” Zach, Melissa, and Echo look at the dragon with surprise. \n“Firework did not steal,” the dragon says. “Firework swear! Firework just found fluffball!” \n\n“I know,” the dog utters. “This one’s a runner. Always looking to get out and away.”\n“Oh… So Firework not in trouble for stealing?” The purple cloudy creature jumps out of the dragon’s paws and snugs itself on his shoulders, cuddling his furry head. “Huh… Fluffball seems attached to Firework.”\n“Well, sorry to ruin your bond, but he needs to go back to the pet store.” The dog reaches for the pet. “Come on, little one. We’re heading back to-” Just as his paw is centimeters from the purple fluff, the creature growls and quickly snaps its teeth onto the flesh of the reaching paw, causing the dog to recoil it back. “Yow! What in dog’s name?!” The fluffball stays on Firework’s shoulder, nestling itself beside his head. “What’s up with that?!”\n“It would seem this fluffball has developed an interest for our dragon friend,” Echo explains. He turns to Firework. “That fluffball sure has taken a liking to you.”\n“Liking or not, it’s coming back with me,” utters the store owner. He reaches again. “Come on, now!” The fluffball hisses and growls. “Stop it! You’re coming with me whether you like it or not!” \nMelissa, watching the conflict play out, decides to stand and step forward. “Hold on a minute! Why take it back to the store when it doesn’t want to?”\n“They’re not free, Ma’am!” says the dog. “And besides, this one ran away!” \n“How much do they cost?”\n“Hundred dollars. Those critters are very popular among the public.”\nMelissa reaches in her skirt and pulls out some dollar bills. After counting, she hands it to the dog. “Here’s two hundred. We’ll take the fluffball off of you so he you won’t have to worry about him.”\nThe St. Bernard freezes and stares at her bills. “Ma’am, I kindly appreciate your offer, but I can’t just take money and let you walk away with it.”\n“Does it matter?” asks Melissa. “I’m paying you more money than what the fluffball’s worth.”\n“Ma’am, I’m afraid I can’t-”\n“Just take the money and get!” Zach orders, siding with Melissa. “Otherwise, there’s going to be more trouble!”\n“All right! Jeez…” The owner accepts Melissa’s payment and walks over. “He’s your problem now…” \nFirework turns and looks at the rabbit. “Firework sorry. Firework don’t know what happened.”\n“Neither do we,” Melissa tells him. “But, it’s okay. It’s no big deal.”\n“Melissa didn’t have to… Melissa too kind…”\n“Better that than a fight, Firework. Besides, I don’t care about spending money. Like I’ve said before, I’m loaded. Daddy’s a great CEO and takes in a lot. Nothing I’m not worried about. \n“That’s not the interesting topic, though,” says Zach. “That fluffball seems really attached to you. Why?”\n“Firework and I saw him in the store,” Echo tells him. “We learned that the fluffball has been abandoned by his pack and taken in to be sold. He has been ignored by other fluffballs, as well as not being adopted.”\n“That when Firework understood fluffball,” Firework adds. “Fluffball has followed Firework to be with Firework and friends…”\n“Guess we have a new member of our group,” Melissa says. “What do you plan on naming him?”\nFirework looks at the fluffball, holding him in his paws. “Does fluffball like Cotton as name?” The fluffball squeaks and bounces with excitement. The grey dragon faces Melissa. “Fluffball is Cotton.”\n“He reminds me of a prize you get at a carnival,” comments Zach.\n“Carnival?” Echo and Firework turn to Zach. “Can we go?! Please, please, please?!” Cotton squeaks more in agreement.\n“Uh… I am not sure… Besides, it depends on what Melissa feels…” He faces the rabbit, as well as the others. “Melissa, I don’t know if-”\n“Of course!” Melissa interrupts. “We’re out and about, and I want to spend more time with you. The kids as well.” Firework and Echo smile and cheer. “But we need to finish lunch first. Then, we all go.” The gang returns to their meals as they sit back in their seats. Cotton nestles himself on the grey dragon’s shoulder, smiling and happy that he’s found his family. \n","writing_bbcode_parsed":"The four friends enter through the glass entrance of the west wing in the mall. It’s no big deal.”
“Melissa didn’t have to… Melissa too kind…”
“Better that than a fight, Firework. Besides, I don’t care about spending money. Like I’ve said before, I’m loaded. Daddy’s a great CEO and takes in a lot. Nothing I’m not worried about.
“That’s not the interesting topic, though,” says Zach. “That fluffball seems really attached to you. Why?”
“Firework and I saw him in the store,” Echo tells him. “We learned that the fluffball has been abandoned by his pack and taken in to be sold. He has been ignored by other fluffballs, as well as not being adopted.”
“That when Firework understood fluffball,” Firework adds. “Fluffball has followed Firework to be with Firework and friends…”
“Guess we have a new member of our group,” Melissa says. “What do you plan on naming him?”
Firework looks at the fluffball, holding him in his paws. “Does fluffball like Cotton as name?” The fluffball squeaks and bounces with excitement. The grey dragon faces Melissa. “Fluffball is Cotton.”
“He reminds me of a prize you get at a carnival,” comments Zach.
“Carnival?” Echo and Firework turn to Zach. “Can we go?! Please, please, please?!” Cotton squeaks more in agreement.
“Uh… I am not sure… Besides, it depends on what Melissa feels…” He faces the rabbit, as well as the others. “Melissa, I don’t know if-”
“Of course!” Melissa interrupts.
","pools_count":0,"title":"Fox and Friends Episode 5: Mall Madness","deleted":"f","public":"t","mimetype":"image/png","pagecount":"1","rating_id":"0","rating_name":"General","ratings":[],"submission_type_id":"12","type_name":"Writing - Document","guest_block":"f","friends_only":"f","comments_count":"6","views":"17","sales_description":null,"forsale":"f","digitalsales":"f","printsales":"f","digital_price":""}
