They don’t usually turn out well.”\n“Choosing a baby quest again, are we?” asks a male voice. Oliver sighs as he turns to where the source is, as well as Zach and Emmy. Approaching them is a buizel with a red armband with a red-masked monferno. “You cease to amaze me, Zangowott.”\n“Oh, hello, Jay,” Oliver says. “Fancy seeing you and Kenji here… I thought you two were off on that rescue quest.” \nThe buizel crosses his arms. “Decided to let Cindy and Miffy do those. Either way, that’s none of your business.” He looks up and sees Zach and Emmy. “Well, well, well. Look what we have here; a couple of newbies. What’s going on, Olive Boy? You got a couple of newbies for your little team so you could make us jealous?” He chuckles. “That’s rich.”\n“Don’t you two have to go out on mission?”\n“Don’t you dare tell us how to do our business! We do as we please! Come, Kenji! We have work to do.” He walks away with the monferno tailing him. \nEmmy stares at the two boys distancing themselves. “He seems nice… A bit of a dick, though…”\nZach looks at Oliver. “You okay?”\n“I’m fine,” Oliver responds. “Nothing to worry about. I get made fun of like this all the time. I usually go on these missions by myself, because all my other friends are usually busy…”\n“Well, that’s not good,” Emmy adds. “Those boys had no right to make fun of you like that.”\n“No, it’s okay… Besides, they don’t know what it’s like to go alone and struggle with quests… Those four pokemon have been together since their first mission.”\n“What a couple of asses!” Zach utters. “We’ll show them, Oliver! We’ll be your team.” Emmy agrees with him. “What is the first mission?”\n“Uh… Why don’t we just start off simple like this oran berry quest.” Oliver pulls off the note from the board. “Collect oran berries for the medical post. Besides, I’d rather not get into battle quests. My mother gets very unhappy, and I’m not too confident in them.”\n“Well, I guess you have to start somewhere… Any idea where to find these oran berries?”\n“Of course! I know this area well. Come.” Oliver leads his new teammates down the dirt path and out of the town. “The berries are a bit further than the spring where I found you, but not too far away.”\n“Why do they need pokemon teams to go fetch berries?” asks Emmy. “Wouldn’t it be easier if they went off and got it themselves?”\n“The audinos and chanseys are very busy at work at the medical post,” Oliver tells her. “They have no time to go out and get supplies. Also, there are bandits around the oran bushes sometimes. I didn’t see any when I was there a couple of days ago, however. We should be fine.” The three pokemon approach a small collection of trees in a clear opening where the popular blue berries grow. “Here are the berries. Let’s start collecting them.”\n“I don’t think that’ll be an option for you, Little Wott.” Oliver’s face turns to surprise as he turns to the source of the additional female voice; a sableye, accompanied by a gastly beside her. “You should turn back. You don’t want to get hurt.”\n“Yeah!” shouts the gastly, male in tone. “We’ve got to these berries first! Go get your own!”\nOliver holds his paws up. “Hey, listen, guys. We don’t want any trouble. We’re just here to collect some oran berries for our mission and-”\n“Ooh,” interrupts the sableye. “Mission, eh? Looks like we’ve got a couple of poketeam “heroes”. Gas, why don’t you show these three pokemon what we do to “heroes” like them?”\n“With pleasure, Gem!” The gastly emits a dark glow in front of him.\n“Look out!” Oliver yells. The three pokemon jump away and dodge as a dark pulse fires at them, yet misses. Oliver takes out his scallop and readies it like a sword. “Looks like we’re battling these two purple pokemon. Be ready for anything!” The sableye sharpens her claws and charges at Oliver, but the oshawott blocks her attack with his scallop. She swings her claws at him, attempting to scratch the water pokemon, yet she is blocked by the oshawott’s scallop shell. Oliver struggles, holding her claws in place before the sableye is kicked away by the riolu’s flying kick. \nThe sableye stands and growls. “Gas, take out the riolu!” The gastly does as he’s commanded, charging a ball of dark energy and shooting it at Zach. The riolu dodges and pounces from side-to-side, evading every other attack the gastly fires at him. Zach is right up at the ghost pokemon after the last shadow ball. “Big mistake, Riolu!” The gastly’s eyes glow purple, sending off waves of energy. Zach relaxes in his stance with his eyes glowing. \n“Zach, don’t look at him!” shouts Oliver. “He’s hypnotizing you!”\n“Now I’ve got you.” The gastly sneers, but he’s knocked away by an unseen force; a beam of psychic energy that comes from the grumpig. \nZach shakes his head, waking from his hypnotic state. “Huh?! What happened?”\n“I just saved you,” Emmy tells him. “You’re welcome.”\nOliver continues to block the sableye’s claw attacks. “Gah!” Zach sprints up to the two and punches her in his quick attack. The sableye collapses to the ground next to her gastly friend, unconscious. \nThe gastly looks at her. “Gem…”\n“Let’s get the berries and get out of here!” Emmy suggests. The three pokemon gather the berries as fast as they can. When the two purple pokemon get up with a struggle, the three friends rush away from the site. \nThe sableye grunts. “You three may have beaten us this time, but this isn’t the last you’ll see of us!” She grudges her stomach and yells in pain.\n\n*** \n\nWalking back into the town, the riolu, oshawott, and grumpig smile and talk about their recent battle while their bags hang beside them, full of oran berries.\n“You two were amazing,” Oliver comments. “The way you guys handled those two thieves.” Zach and Emmy thank him. “There is one suggestion I have to make, though. You both should work on your abilities a bit more. Practice makes perfect.”\n“It was the first time we used our pokemon moves,” Emmy tells him. “It’s not like we’re masters.”\n“Hm, you’re right. Hey, I know! After we drop these berries off at the medical post, why don’t we head off to the gym? Maybe you two could work on your powers a little bit more.”\n“Doesn’t sound too bad,” Zach says. “I would like to figure out how to use aura sphere and maybe bone rush.”\n“Those aren’t really riolu moves,” Oliver assures him. “They are lucario moves.
