Heaven took mostly after his mother, both physically and mentally. He was a smart, cute little foal and was beginning to learn the dragon’s language under his mother’s tutorship, but there was a quicker way... To help him along and further improve relations between their respective diplomats, the local dragon mage Korzant offered to provide apprenticeship to Heaven. The boy was shy at first around the large, powerful red dragon, even when the mage took his two-legged form. However, Korzant was always gentle with him and encouraged his studies, perhaps out of generosity of heart, or for some dark, mysterious motive.
One of Heaven’s typical chores was to clean the mage’s tower, sweeping, putting away and organizing books, tidying up after experiments… and performing other similar tasks. The foal had the whole run of the place, except for one “special” storage room… there were many magical artifacts and mysterious items of power in that room, the boy was told. It was dangerous for foals, and he should never enter. One day, though, Heaven was walking past that room carrying a pail of soapy water and he stumbled, gasping as he spilled water all over! Normally, this wouldn’t have been so bad, but the foal noticed that the door to that “special” room was cracked open a bit, and water was seeping in. The boy had gotten so nervous, shivering and quickly getting his rag to clean the spill. He didn’t want to be found out, and if he cleaned up the spill quickly, maybe Korzant wouldn’t notice he went into the taboo room.
On his hands and knees, Heaven vigorously dried the spilled water and suds. Looking up briefly as he worked, the boy noticed a box against the close wall, with a light sparkly blue glow seeming to emanate from within. The side of the box said “unicorn toys…” Heaven had heard about unicorns before. They were said to be mysterious and aloof, even more-so than the dragons. He’d never seen anyone who had ever actually met one. What kinds of toys do they play with, the innocent foal wondered? As he crawled over to the box, this warm, happy sensation tickled over his little body, making him blush and tremble. Something from within was beckoning the foal closer, strange energy radiating out… sending little jolts of excitement throughout Heaven’s form. It spoke to the cute little foal’s mind and curious heart, telling him exactly what to do…
