This is it, Kevin thought, the end of his school career and the beginning of his Pokemon journey. He couldn’t wait for the end of the day, watching the clock run down, each tick made him more and more excited for 3pm, when he got out of school. The teachers didn’t care much either, they checked out once finals were done. Kevin wanted to become a Pokemon Trainer from day one but his parents were very firm on their stance, no Pokemon until finishing High School. He resented their decision for it, even though he knew it was the right one, gotta have a backup plan incase the whole trainer path doesn’t work out right? But he knew, he just knew that he would be the best trainer the world of Pokemon has ever seen, he had a gift, a gift that he never told anybody because they would never believe him. Kevin could understand Pokemon. While a regular person would just hear Pokemon say their names, he could understand the complex conversations that they were having. This drove him to become a Pokemon Trainer in the first place, if only the day would end sooner... The bell rang after what seemed like the longest day of his life and Kevin was off like a speeding bullet. He was the first one out of the school, as he usually was, and hopped on his bike, pedaling like a Buizel in water, as fast as he can to his house, ready to start his new life. He arrived home rapidly and ran to his room to get his stuff. His door swung open and in came his mom with a wide grin on her petite face. “I’m so proud of you honey!” she said with her usual high pitched voice, “I just know you are going to do great as a Pokemon Trainer!” “Thanks Mom” Kevin said with a laugh, “Now get out so I can get ready for tomorrow, you’re bothering me” A little while later he was all packed and ready to go, tired from the rough day of packing his eyes shut tight and stayed the minute he put his head to the pillow. “BEEP! BEEP! BEEP!” Rang the alarm that alerted him that his day was starting. Usually Kev was slow to get up but today he sprung from the bed, took a quick shower, ate breakfast, and then ran off to the lab to get his first pokemon. As he raced up the doorsteps of the lab the doors swung open as the professor greeted him in with a hearty laugh. “Ha Ha Kev, how's it been my boy? Your mother told me that you were coming in early, can't wait to start huh?” “Yes Professor, what are the choices for my first Pokemon?” “Well, I know you're a special kid, and as such I got you a very special pokemon!” As he pulled out a pokeball with a flame on the top of it. Kev thought to himself, what Pokemon could it be? A Growlithe? A Gengar? Maybe even one of the legendary dogs! “What is it Professor?” he inquired. “This pokemon has a fiery heart and an attitude to match, come out Monferno!” a bright, red stream came from the pokeball and out came the monkey. “Wow a Monferno!” Kev said with glee! “Mon-Monferno” was all the Professor heard, but Kev knew exactly what he was saying, “Not too bad, seems intelligent enough, might actually have fun battling with him.” Is what he actually said. “How do you like him?” asked the Professor “Yes Professor I love him! Thank you for your trust in me to start my Pokemon journey!” “Make me proud kid, all of us have your back”
