I felt like it could be misinterpreted as me fetishizing trans people. And I didn't want to offend real trans people.So I started avoiding talking about her gender...\n\nEventually I settled on having Tania be a cis woman cause I wanted to avoid such a controversy and I even ended up thinking: \"Well, if I'm gonna have a talking possum for a character, she might as well be whatever I want, so why not have her be a female, even if I'm not?\"\n\nThus Tania continued her adventures as a cis woman, but with the recent talks I've had about my own identity... I now see that I never solved the question of Tania's gender and just avoided it. Denying her gender in order to avoid controversy.
