| \n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tAmong those wealthy folks who can't (or won't) carry a pregnancy, most resort to modern medical machinery. A few don't like using a mechanical surrogate uterine environment, but a few of them are surprisingly okay with using nonhuman surrogates. Dragons, being the first nonhuman race engineered, were made with a compatibility with human tissues that's now considered overengineering - actually, with quite a few features now considered overengineering. Between these and a quadruped stance, the rate of complications during pregnancy is around two orders of magnitude lower than in baseline humanity, and labor is, by comparison, quick and easy. Thus, surrogate mothers are much cheaper to insure if they're dragons. Given that the genetic parents are liable for any harm that comes to a surrogate mother as a result of her service, plus pre- and post-natal care, insurance is a de facto requirement, even if you are wealthy enough to hire someone to carry your children to term. Another fun fact: most families with the means to hire a surrogate for a year at a time have enough money to do a little extra work to make the surrogate suit the role; the only thing they can't throw money at is personality. So when they find the right personality in a male, or in a human... that just means it'll cost a little extra up front. Many of those who would hire a surrogate dragon would also ask for some assurance that the child is actually theirs, so most end up partially spayed. In order to start a pregnancy under these conditions, a device about the size of a multivitamin pill is stuck into the blind end of a fallopian tube, and releases an egg a few days after artificial insemination. It contains hormone concentrate that it drips out over the next nine months, as well. Here, we'll be demonstrating the entire process from implanting the egg carrier through insemination.
