It also gives me a better sense of the difference in how they treat their clients (holding the leash) and their patients (wearing the leash), at least when I wasn't recognized.\n\nI had nudged my handler - a slightly built and high-strung elf - toward a booth at the end of one row a few minutes ago, offering an injectable and long-acting oxytocin supplement. Oxytocin, as I well knew from experience, was a hormone that encouraged group bonding and physical affection, usually administered in a short-acting nasal spray or occasionally via implant. Some of our hormone-regulators could dial the dose in, and we had famously blended it into our Christmas Surprise and Reindeer drug formulae, in the form of dissolving implants. I had no experience with using the stuff straight for more than a day at a time, however, but had been kicking around the idea for a while - my hesitancy involves the difficulty of self-administering a nasal spray with no thumbs and a bull-ringed nose. That simply doesn't work all that well. \n\nMy handler moseyed on over, introduced himself, and asked about the product. Five minutes later, the elf manning the booth - wearing an oversized polo shirt with the company logo cheaply embroidered on the collar, in a way that somehow screamed \"startup\" - was holding me by the tail and shooting a dose of it into my raised rump, the sharp sting being replaced by a spreading warmth even before he pulled the needle out.",
