Turns out, when the economy slumps just a few days after your formal resignation, even glowing testimonials and decent work experience can't get you hired. What should have been a month or so of unemployment turned into two... then three... then crept closed to four. Seeing as he quit his job, he didn't even have unemployment to fall back on. Luckily his parents were in far better financial straits and were willing to loan him money, else he'd have been on the streets.
As desperation set it though, finally a ray of hope came through! An interview! In his field even! He happily awaited its coming, even buying a crisp new suit for the occasion. The big day arrived, and Rorick walked in with confidence. Navigating the interview with precision, he knew it was going well and the hiring manager seemed quite interested. He had this in the bag.
Alas, it wouldn't be Rorick if something didn't go wrong. Unbeknownst to the collie, his friend Floofy was practicing her magic. She had recently come to know of an unusual spell, one that allowed the caster to move objects over great distances, all in the blink of an eye. Thinking he was at home, and knowing he'd find it funny, she decided to *poof!* away his clothes for just a moment. She'd send them right back, she wasn't stealing after all. And if he happened to be out and about? Well, it'd be even funnier in the end. Public nudity wasn't exactly common, but it wasn't illegal or anything. Knowing Rorick, after a short bout of confusion and slight embarrassment, he'd find it all the more hilarious.
Rorick didn't find it funny when his suit disappeared into thin air while in the interview room. Nor did he find it funny when, just a few moments later, it reappeared. To top it all off, he knew the exact culprit: he suit had been returned covered in blue and white fur. Floofy could have gotten off scot-free, if not for the cruel gods of fate. For while Rorick was inconvenienced, it just so happened to be the start of "magic cat shedding season". For those who don't know, "magic cat shedding season" is not really a season, for it happens at random times. It also happens all at once. With almost all the fur falling off. Did I mention "at once"? You have to be quite a ways away to avoid that furry feline fragmentation grenade going off. It honestly was one of the main reasons she wanted to learn the spell. In her panic and haste, however, Floofy forgot to magic away her fur from the suit, leaving the incriminating evidence.
Turns out, HR doesn't like casual nudity in the workplace, and the interviewer was very allergic to cats. Humiliated and denied his first shot in months, Rorick knew he had to teach that mischievous cat a lesson. Upon hunting her down, he did just that. And got another idea for teaching her after seeing her bared bottom.
