Fox Eyes 5 It had been about 2 weeks. Bob had been a bit of a nervous wreck during those two weeks. He was afraid if he left them for more then a minute they would freeze. Felix was a good substitute heat source and he could take over temporarily when Bob had to get a drink of water or take a dump. Felix did a great job hunting all sorts of woodland creatures. He would bring them back. Bob was very appreciative of that as he couldn't really leave the kits for long. He made a point of giving Felix some extra grooming to help him relax after doing all that hunting. Bob thought it would be hilarious if Felix brought back a jackalope or a hodag. One of the things Bob dreaded the most, almost as much as the birth itself, was the kits um, bathroom issue. He knew exactly what to do but wasn't sure how often he had to do it. He had to lick them to get them to go. He damn near redecorated the area underneath the shed with barf the first time he did that. Gotta not be such a damn wuss he thought. A real fox wouldn't have any trouble with that. Thank god there was only three of them, that's enough. He shuddered to think if he had eight. When he finished that he would move each kit to the most annoyingly overfull nipple. He tried to rotate usage of the nipples. He wasn't looking forward to when they got sharp teeth. The little kits were slowly getting larger and more plush and luckily a bit more durable. Bob looked at the little kits, they had just recently opened their eyes. Their eyes were a odd blue color with slits for pupils. They would get their normal eye coloring at some point. They really did kind of look like puppies. Bob did feel really attached to them. They were still a bit shaky as they wandered around. Felix came back with a squirrel. Bob would eat later, He got up and detached a little fox from a nipple. He left the underside of the shed and wandered off. He found an area where he could go to the bathroom himself. He didn't bother with the territory marking as he didn't really know the proper protocol for that. He just tried to keep it away from where they lived, let Felix mark territory to his hearts content. He found the stream he normally drank from. He drank a fairly large amount of water. He looked at his reflection in the water. He dipped a paw into the water and wiped it on his eyes and snout. What he wouldn't give for a breath mint right about now. Though he was mostly used to his new form he still sometimes felt weird about what he had become. He wondered why and how he ended up as a vixen. Being a vixen is actually pretty nice, usually. At least he wasn't turned into a female hyena, if you know you know. He wondered if he should tell Felix about his past. He thought better of it, Felix might think he was losing it or even in the early stages of the dreaded rabies. He looked at his belly and the eight fairly pronounced nipples. The fur around each one was a bit crusty with dried up fox slobber. He briefly thought about jumping into the stream to maybe clean himself off but decided it was a bit too cold still. His new family didn't care if he smelled extra foxy anyway. He let out a fox version of a sigh. He walked back to the shed and ducked under it. Felix and the kits were overjoyed to see him. He didn't feel hungry at the moment and lied down. The three little kits each found a nipple and Felix started to groom Bob's head. Bob closed his eyes and tried to relax. He woke up a couple hours later, the sunlight was shining a bit under the shed. Felix was staring at Bob with concern. Bob thought it was amazing how much empathy a fox could have, he didn't feel too great earlier and Felix had sensed it. He felt a lot better now and reassured Felix. Bob gave him a kiss on the nose. "I think it is about time to give these little fluff balls some actual names", Bob said. Truth be told he was dreading this too. Him coming up with names is like getting blood from a turnip. They both thought long and hard trying to figure out some names. "How about Ace for the male?", Felix suggested. "Hmm, kinda sounds like a mobster name, it's perfect", Bob said. Bob thought of a character from a point and click video game he remembered named Trixie. "How about Trixie for this little female?" Bob asked. "Yeah that's pretty good", Felix said, "Just one more to go". They both ended up naming the other female Vixie, even though that name is way overused for female foxes it is so darn cute. Bob was happy that was taken care of. He was amazed that he could easily tell which kit was which even with his eyes closed just using his nose. He was getting better at the fox stuff he realized. Looking at the little kits, he would be heartbroken when they have to leave. He didn't have to worry about that now, they still have a long way to go.
