Bento has always been a good student, his natural intellectual curiosity augmented by the value his parents placed on academic achievement. The Shiba’s high performance in school only encouraged him to continue to try his utmost to achieve his dream of getting into an Ivy League university.
Physically, Bento is shorter and scrawnier than the average kid in his school. His physique is only exaggerated because he is usually seen hanging around with Chad, who is tall and bulky even for a bull. Bento’s interests are those of a typical “nerd”. He loves fantasy role playing, science fiction, horror stories, video games, and superheroes. The only time Bento pays any attention to sports is if Chad happens to be on the field. Otherwise he tends to dismiss football and soccer as “not enough magic”.
While one would expect a scrawny foreign bookworm nerd like Bento to be low hanging fruit for bullies, his easygoing and generally likeable nature tends to deflect most potential harassment. It also doesn’t hurt that if Chad found out anyone was being mean to Bento, they’d get their teeth smashed in by the bull’s monstrously large fists.
While an unlikely pair like Chad and Bento don’t always get along, they both place great value on their friendship (and maybe even something more). Even after an argument, both know that there is nothing stronger or more important than the bond they share with one another.
