Winston pulls the car into the back of the station, briskly walking inside and over to the receptionist. “Patty, where’s Cayde?” He asks the Sheep, while Felicia hustles just behind. “Mr. Stix.” She exclaims upon seeing the Chief. “I told your son and his friend, they should wait in the breakroom. Sir.” Winston makes his way down the hall. “Thank you Patty, you're doing a great job today, he’s just a bit worried for his kid.” Felicia says softly and the fluffy white female nods. “How's the case for the Nine going?” She asks, and is handed a folder. “We haven’t had anymore calls about them since last night.” She explains. “Though from what Cayde told me. I’m a little worried for Mr. Stix and his family.” Felicia raises an eyebrow. And the sheep clears her throat. “Mr. Styx’s son believes that it may have been a kidnapping attempt. He said they had restraints and possibly a gag.” Felicia starts making her way to the breakroom. “Thank you, Patty.” She walks into the breakroom, where Winston is holding Cayde tightly in a hug. She can just barely make out the large male shaking as he breathes. She walks over to Jet, who is shirtless, while she politely attempts to clear the room of the other officers. “I’m so glad you're alright Cayde.” He says softly as he pulls back a bit sensing his son’s discomfort. “Are you hurt?” “Just a bit bruised.” Cayde says softly with a groan as his father releases him. “I’m glad I took gymnastics, and track and field.” “I’ll say, I’ve never seen you sprint that fast in my life.” Jet says as Felicia sits next to him. “I’m honestly impressed you don’t have a concussion.” “A Concussion?” Felicia asks as everyone looks at Jet now. “What did you do, Cayde? And Jet, why are you shirtless?” “Cayde is wearing my shirt, to cover some of the marks from diving through my car window, at like thirty miles an hour.” Jet explains as all heads turn to Cayde, who rubs the back of his head. “You did what?” Both Winston and Felicia ask in surprise. “Don’t be mad at him, Sir. He was making his way out his bedroom window, when one of them grabbed his shirt, and he slipped out of it, then rushed to my car.” Jet defends. “I’m pretty sure he was just scared they’d follow him. So instinct kicked in, and he just sprinted. With no way to slow down, he just dove through my passenger side window. Hit his head and probably the rest of his body. Not to mention my shoulder.” The leopard rubs his arm a bit as Cayde opens his mouth. “And I swear if you say sorry, I’m smacking you, Cayde.” Jet states, then looks over at Winston. “Not literally. Sir.” “No, Jet. I agree with you, though for a different reason.” Winston states. “Before anyone gets smacked.” Felicia cuts in. “First, let the boy heal. And second, Patty said Cayde thinks it was a kidnapping attempt.” Winston looks over at her. “He said they had restraints and possibly a gag.” “Is this true Cayde?” Winston asks, looking back at his son, who just nods. “I’m going to call your mother. Felicia, stay here with them.” The red panda takes off her hat, setting it on the table, as Winston leaves the room. “So, you took track and field, and gymnastics?” Felicia asks, trying to lighten the tension in the room. “My brother took track, while I took gymnastics. Comes in handy, knowing how to move on all fours, huh?” Cayde gives a slight smile. “Yea I know you did gymnastics when you were younger, and went to one of your things, but when did you start the other?” Jet asks, curious. “I didn’t even know you could run like that. That looked so uncomfortable, but man did you fucking book it.” He looks over at Felicia. “Sorry, Ma’am.” She gives him a curious look. “I’m not your grandmother, Jet. I don’t care if you swear.” She stands up and goes over to Cayde. “Mind if I take a look at you? You may still have a concussion.” Cayde tenses a bit, then she leans in closer to his ear. “Your father told me. We can go to another room if you want.” “No it’s fine. Jet knows too.” Cayde sighs, taking off Jet’s shirt, showing the many bruises setting in just under his lighter shade of fur. “Fuck, Cayde.” Jet exclaims looking over his friend’s body. “That does not look painless.” “I’ve been through worse.” the puma says, shaking off the comment. ”Track is no joke.” “Especially when you take a turn wrong, while going seventy miles an hour.” The female adds as she checks over Cayde. “My brother did that during one of his runs. And as much as I love him, seeing a cheetah go flying into hay bales is quite funny.” “Seventy?” Jet asks with surprise. “Ha. And you tell me to slow down when I’m only doing fifteen…” He pauses. “Nevermind.” “I’ll just assume you mean fifteen miles per hour, Jet.” Felicia comments, as she finishes looking over Cayde. “Good news is you have no permanent damage, at least that I can tell, but you will be very sore for quite a while.” She stands up again. “Might be a good idea to take a pass on working for the next week, before school.” “Well. I guess that job proposal is out of the question now.” Cayde says putting the shirt back on. “Well. Your mother knows what is going on now.” Winston says coming back into the room. “I’m going to pick her up from work today. I also talked to Patty and got her looking into the Nine Tails case. I don’t like how this happened only one day after we caught one of them.” He looks over at his partner. “You up for a little good cop, bad cop with our old friend from yesterday, Felicia?” She nods, grabbing her hat with a smirk. “I think we could use that information that he told us about yesterday.” They both head out the room and Winston hangs back for a second. “You two. Stay here for the night, and Jet, call your grandmother, make sure she knows what's going on.” “Already did, Sir.” He confirms. “I’ll let her know I’ll be staying here for the night.” Winston nods and follows after his partner. “So who do you think the good cop is?” Jet asks his friend, who gives a snicker. “Hell of a day though.” He says, pulling out his phone, texting his grandmother. “Late for work, then get a raise, then a promotion, got ratted out by my grandmother and then a getaway, as my friend nearly breaks every bone in his body diving through my car window.” “Well when you put it that way it sounds like an action movie.” The puma responds and sits in one of the plastic chairs. “My heart was really pumping at the end though, still is, and thanks for defending me from my Dad. I know he’d never hit me but I could tell he was aggravated.” He looks down at the shirt. “And for giving me your shirt.” “Like you said. At least I can go shirtless in public.” Jet says simply. “Seriously though. How are you not limping. You look like you got run over by a truck.” “Is it really that bad?” The leopard just nods. “I’m going to check in the bathroom mirrors. Cause it really doesn’t hurt that bad” Cayde and Jet get up and head for the bathrooms. “Just wait outside.” “I actually have to piss, dude.” Jet says opening the door and going inside. “It’s not a private bathroom, I’ll use a stall if you're really that opposed to seeing me naked.” Cayde sighs and slips into the bathroom and takes off the shirt looking in the mirror as Jet uses the urinal. “Wow. Maybe the pain just hasn't set in yet.” He turns a bit, getting a look over his body. “It’s probably gonna hurt like hell when it does though.” Cayde takes off his pants, getting a closer look at his legs as well, noticing they are even worse, especially near his feet, where he collided with the window frame. The toilet flushes, and Jet turns to see the puma in only his briefs sitting on the floor, then notices the marks, and goes to wash his paws. “You might wanna get checked out by a proper doctor, after this.” The smaller cat nods then winces in pain as he goes to put his pants back on. Jet stops, and moves over to him, kneeling down. “You alright?” “I think the pain is setting in.” The puma says as tears well in his eyes. “Do you want me to grab your Dad?” Jet asks with a bit of worry, as he goes to stand. “Can you just help me get dressed?” Cayde asks with obvious pain in his voice. “I just want to get to my Dad’s office, where it's more private.” Jet nods, and helps Cayde put on his slacks and his shirt, grateful neither were too tight on him. Fighting back tears on his own right, for seeing just how much his friend was hurting. Cayde’s light fur was tear stained, and his eyes were bright red when Jet was able to help him to his feet. Jet let Cayde lean into him as he walked out of the bathroom, the puma fighting his body to move with each step. “It's upstairs isn’t it?” Asks the leopard. Cayde exhales in frustration and pain as a door opens down a hall and Winston’s screaming can be heard briefly, as Felicia walks out of the interrogation room. She notices the boys just out of the corner of her eye, rushing over. “Oh my god. What happened?” She asks worriedly, helping Jet support the puma. “Pain finally set in.” Jet explains. “Or the adrenaline finally wore off.” She responds. “Come on, help me get him over to medical.” They start making their way over to the attached medical building, and get him onto a stretcher, then over to a medical bed. “I’m going to grab his father.” Felicia says as she hustles back. “This will help some of the pain, Hun.” One of the nurses says, pressing down the plunger of the needle in Cayde’s arm. “You must have had some serious blood pumping through you, to not pass out from this.” “Will he be alright?” Jet asks, worried for his friend. “He will be in quite a large amount of pain for about a week, at the very least. We will have an X-ray done later to make sure nothing else got damaged.” The nurse explains. “What caused this?” “Dove through my car window going thirty.” The nurse looks over at Jet. “He was going thirty, not my car.” He adds. “Either way.” She says softly getting up and throwing the needle away. “I am not going to ask why, just don’t do it again. You are going to feel very cold for a minute then it will go away, Hun. Just try to lie still” Winston almost runs into the nurse as she’s leaving, as he sprints into the room and moves over to Cayde’s side. Felicia coming in a bit after. “I haven’t got. This much exercise. Since we chased that. Guy through the. Warehouse downtown.” She pants bent over at the door trying to catch her breath. “How’s he holding up?” She asks Jet. “Nurse just gave him a painkiller.” She gives a thumbs up. “Felicia. Can you grab my wife from her work tonight? I really don’t want to leave Cayde alone right now.” Winstons asks, holding his son’s paw, as Felicia walks over to her boss. “Is this for you or him?” She asks, causing the man to exhale. “He’s in good hands. I think your wife needs you more than him at this point.” She explains gently putting a paw on his shoulder. “Besides I would not be able to drive as fast as you do. And it is your car.” Winston grunts standing up and takes a few deep breaths. “I’ll stay with them till you get back, alright?” Winston nods and moves to the door. “I swear if what that fox told us is true, I might come back with blood on my uniform, and two unconscious furs in my car.” He says as he walks out of the room. “What did that guy tell you two.” Jet asks, after about fifteen minutes. “He was in there longer than I was. But.” She continues. “He told us they were going to get back at him by going for his family first. They were going to kidnap Cayde, and Winston thinks they may try to do the same with his wife. “I’m not really one to put up much of a fight, and with me and Lia, depending on how many they have, they most definitely would have overpowered us.” She reaches over and gently rubs Cayde’s head. “I’m sure she’s safe because of the alarm system at her building, but getting her here is still a forty five minute drive, and that’s with him driving.” She looks down at her belt as her pager buzzes. “He’s sent a search helicopter? That might be a bit much.” She says aloud looking at it. “If this is the Nine Tailed Fucks people, isn’t it better safe than sorry.” Jet asks. “Well, yes. But Winston isn’t one for normally involving the team in private matters.” She explains “I’m going to give him a call. I don’t like this.” She gets up and heads out the door. As Jet just watches his friend’s pain slowly fade away. After a few minutes, Felicia comes back in, walking with purpose over to her jacket. “He didn’t call for the helicopter. Which means someone else did.” She pulls out her keys, and dials another number on her phone. “C’mon, Mike…” She says tapping her foot. “Mike, finally. Bring the Vette to the station. Yes, I know what time it is, just do it.” She hangs up the phone. “I’m going to give him a bit of backup, along with my brother.” Jet’s mouth opens as he puts up a finger. “Uh…” Then closes his mouth and puts his paw down. “Nevermind.” He just goes back to watching Cayde. “You have your cell on you?” Jet nods and gives it to her. “I put my number in. Call only me, if you need anything.” She makes her way out of the room. After a few minutes she sees her brother, Mike, pull up front in his Black Corvette, and she gets in. “Do you know where 865 Willow Drive is?” She asks and the Cheetah yawns. “Yea, but why am I taking you there?” He’s woken up a bit, when Felicia slaps him. “Right, don’t question your Police shit.” The panda smiles and buckles in, as the sound of a V8 Engine, with almost 500 Horsepower, pulls away into the night.
