Despite everything, time had marched on. The teenage red panda’s eyes wandered over the wall clock. Tick tock. One and a half years until high school. Lying to a teacher and being sent to detention probably wasn’t the smartest thing to do. This one infraction wouldn’t matter. Especially, if he ‘learned his lesson’ as it were. Roger, the bully he’d be in detention with, probably wasn’t so lucky. Given his usual behaviour in class, he probably had a long list of infractions.\n\nWhich made Carter wonder how he even made it here in the first place. The test last year pretty much sorted students into three or perhaps four categories. Special students that couldn’t even meet the demands of the curriculum. Then the students whose performances are either average, superior, or exceptional. True geniuses would probably just get to skip a few years entirely.\n\nThis class pretty much had an express ticket to university. Assuming everyone kept up their grades. Carter wouldn’t really call himself exceptional and certainly he wouldn’t use that term to describe Roger. The fact remains though, Roger made it here and was here to stay.
