The rightmost image shows Arkani as his fur is naturally, it is how he was born as well as how he is until chapter 12 of my first book.
The middle image shows Arkani after chapter 12, just before he leaves his homeland of the Luna Tundra he is given the official sign of a Novice Mage (the lowest ranking of being an official mage) by Lord Veendam, the Archmage of Ezradel. The sign of a Novice Mage is a thin band across their right arm, typically in a lighter or darker version of the colour that the fur is on their arm, whichever suits better. (The band is magically casted onto them and is impossible to remove except by using magic, so it's essentially a tattoo.)
The leftmost two images show Arkani as he is at the end of my first book, once otters travel to both the Luna and Sol Tundras they are given a sun and moon emblem put onto their fur the same way the band is put on Novice Mages, by magic. The sun and moon aren't level with each other, the one that is placed higher shows which tundra the otter is from, in the case of Arkani being the Luna Tundra, so the moon emblem is placed higher. Additionally because Arkani is also a mage he gets a large line across his chest and back as well, though this does not signify Arkani as a stronger mage, it only shows that he is an otter mage who has travelled to both tundras.
