All lines must be read as clearly as can be managed. After-FX will be added during the editing process. Inflections will be explained as needed during the script.
Additional: The narrator is just as much of a character as everything else and will also follow inflection orders as written.
Narrator: [The opening narrator of this story is a very calm and pleasant voice. It is intended to comfort the minds of children.] The story of Little Red Riding-Hood as adapted from the works of Charles Perrault [Per-roe’]. Let us begin. [Pause]
Once upon a time, in a village, there lived a little girl, the prettiest you could wish to see. Her mother adored her, and her grandmother adored her even more. This kind lady had a riding-hood made for her granddaughter; it was red, and it suited her so well that everywhere she went, she was called Little Red Riding-Hood.
One day, when her mother had done some baking, she made some buns, and said:
Mother: [The mother is strict but kind-hearted. She believes her daughter is a good girl and trusts she will follow the subsequent orders without complaint.] Go and see how your grandmamma is, because I’ve heard she isn’t well. Take her one of these buns, and a little pot of butter.
Narrator: Little Red Riding-Hood set off at once to visit her grandmother, who lived in another village. As she was going into a wood, she met Master Wolf, [an uncomfortably long pause here while the music becomes more ominous] and he wanted very much to eat her up; [Pause] but he did not dare, because there were some woodcutters in the forest.
Master Wolf: [The wolf has a very growly sort of voice and sounds as if he is on the edge of doing something terrible. This particular line becomes progressively distorted until it ceases to exist and the story continued as normal.] Hey, Red. Where are you going this time?
[Reception Clears]
Narrator: The wolf asked her where she was going. The poor child, who did not know that it is dangerous to stay and listen to a wolf, told him:
Little Red: [There will be two overlapping lines here. The first sounds like a flirty sort of girl.] Hi there. Never thought I’d find you again.
[The second sounds more like a cute little child.] I am going to see my grandmother, and I’m taking her a bun and a little pot of butter that my mother is sending me with.
Master Wolf: Does she live a long way off?
Narrator: Asked the wolf.
Little Red: [Flirty version with reverberation] Ohhh yessss.
//[Child version] Oh yes. It’s beyond the mill that you can see ever so far away over there, and it’s the first house you come to in the village.
[Uncomfortably long pause]
Master Wolf: [With Reverberation] Well then,
Narrator: Said Master Wolf.
Master Wolf: [Said provocatively as if trying to tease her] I’d like to go and see her too. [Long pause] I tell you what: I’ll go by this path here, [Pause] and you can go by that one there, [Pause] and maybe we’ll see who gets there first.
[Uncomfortably long pause]
Little Red: [Flirty version with reverberation] Alright.
Narrator: The Wolf began to run as hard as he could along his path, which was shorter, while the little girl went by the longer path, and amused herself gathering hazelnuts, running after butterflies, and making posies out of the… [Narrator pauses here and come back in in a matter of fact tone] Well, actually, the girl was just being bloody lazy about it.
[Uncomfortably long pause]
[From this point on, the narrator sounds irritated.]
Well, the wolf obviously did not take very long to reach the grandmother’s house. After all, he had taken the shorter path. [Distortion breaks up the next part until it becomes unintelligible.] That was the agreement anyways. Not that she ever cared about what would happen.
[Distortion ends]
He knocked at the door, rat-a-tat-tat! [Sound of a door knock during the onomonopia]
Grandmother: [A simple voice of a sickly and aged lady] Who is it?
[Uncomfortably long pause]
Hello?
[The sounds of the door being forced open, a struggle with screaming, and ultimately the sound gets cut off abruptly.]
[Uncomfortably long pause while the sounds set up for the next part—The sounds happening here are a mix of growly breathing with the disturbing music that will be designed around it. This goes on for a bit. The narrator begins speaking amidst it in his normal irritated voice.]
Narrator: Then Master Wolf shut the door, went to lie down in the grandmother’s bed, and waited for Little Red Riding-Hood. [Long pause while the narrator huffs with frustration.]
In a little while she came, and knocked on the door, rat-a-tat-tat! [Sound of a door knock during the onomonopia]
Master Wolf: [He must sound the same. Do not imitate grandmother.] Who is it?
Narrator: Little Red Riding-Hood, hearing the Wolf’s gruff voice, was frightened at first, but, believing that her grandmother had a cold… Oh, fucking hell! That’s not how it happened! This whole thing is a steaming pile is shit! Anyone with a mind of his own can— [Recording distorts behind recognition]
[Music to denote direct change into horror]
Little Red: [Long pause with long breaths. She speaks in her flirty tone from here on out.] Hey, there… Grandma.
[The wolf chuckles]
Little Red: Looks like you beat me here.
Master Wolf: Yeah. Put your stuff over there next to her.
Little Red: Anything you say… Grandma.
[The sound of wet smacks as she walks. The sound of something being dropped. More wet smacks.]
Little Red: Done.
Master Wolf: [Pause with deep breaths and a chuckle] Now, get into bed with me.
Narrator: [He sound perfectly nasty at this point. He is a little drunk as well] Little Red Riding-Hood undressed… [Uncomfortably long pause] and got into the bed. [Uncomfortably long pause] She was very surprised to see what her [Pause] grandmother looked like without any cloths on.
Little Red: [With a giggle] Oh! [Pause while the wolf makes an acknowledging growl] Oh, Grandmama… what long arms you have.
Master Wolf: [After a chuckle] All the better to hug you with, my dear.
Little Red: [Much flirtier and slower] Oh grandmamma, what long legs you have.
Master Wolf: [After a long pause with deep growling breaths] All the better for running with, my dear.
Little Red: [Continuing to be extremely flirty] Oh grandmamma… [Long Pause] what big ears you have.
Master Wolf: [Getting angrier at her teasing. He sounds frustrated and annoyed this time around] All the better to hear you with, my dear.
Little Red: [Slower and sweeter] Oh grandmamma… what big eyes you have.
Master Wolf: [With a sneer. Hateful. Resentful of her teasing] All the better… to see you with… my… dear.
Little Red: [More of the same. Unconcerned with the consequences] Oh grandmamma… what great… big… teeth you have!”
[Amid screeching music we have the sounds of the wolf lashing out. Little Red screams briefly followed by bloody gargling. This goes on for an uncomfortable amount of time.]
Narrator: [After a scoff] Stupid girl.
[After all sound is faded out, there will be two beeps followed by the narrator and his moral.]
Narrator: [Snobbishly] Moral: [Pause] Young children, as this tale will show, and mainly pretty girls with charm, do wrong and often come to harm in letting those they do not know stay talking to them when they meet. And if they don’t do as they ought, it’s no surprise that some are caught by wolves who take them off to eat.
[Pause]
I call them wolves, but you will find that some are not the savage kind. Not howling, ravening, or raging. Their manners seem, instead, engaging. They’re softly-spoken and discreet. Young ladies whom they talk to on the street, they follow to their homes and through the hall, and upstairs to their rooms when they are there. They are not as friendly as they might appear. [Pause]
These are the most dangerous wolves of all. [Final word echoes and reverberates.]
