The sun was just starting to peek through the window in Nick's office. 'Looks like another beatiful day in the city you helped make' he thought to himself. It had been a long, strange road that had led the con man to his new position as the city's new mayor. After he and that stupid rabbit cop had exposed Belweather and he had joined the police force, he had thought he was going to go straight. But while you could take the fox out of the con, you couldnt take te con artist out of the fox. It had started small. Finnick, his old partner and lifelong friend had been picked up for drug trafficking. Apparently the loss of his partner had forced the little fennec from transition from morally gray hustling to outright crime to make ends meet. Blaming himself for his friends arrest, Nick did what he could to help Finnick. But the case against the pint sized fox had been air tight. That was, it was air tight right up until some key evidence went missing from the evidence locker while the security system was down for maintenance. Of course, all eyes were on Nick for this, but between Hopps going to bat for him and a solid alibi, nobody could prove that Nick had arranged or done anything. Or so Nick thought. It hadn't taken very long for things to spiral out of control after that. First Finnick needed help again, then it was coverups and misdirections to protect him. He couldn't recall exactly when things had expanded beyond that, but it wasn't long before he had become your typical crooked cop, on the take and covering for the worst scum of the city. Such a success he was at this he had even earned his way back into Mr. Big's good graces, all mentions of skunk butt rugs put well behind them. In fact, so in his Mr. Big's good graces (and more importantly under his control) and Nick gotten that when Chief Bogo decided "I'm getting to old for this shit" and retired he puled some pretty hefty strings to see to it that Nick was chosen as the next chief of police. Nobody really questioned it of course. Obviously most had expected it to be Judy, but Nick's involvement with the nigt howler case and subsequent track record as her partner meant he he also had an impressive resume. Those who questioned it merely took the choice of Nick over Judy as evidence that despite all of Hopp's hard work and the progress that had been made, speciesism was far from over. And it wasn't like Judy was left as some random beat cop either. One of Nicks first acts as the chief of police was to fast track her career, making her a detective in short order. A decision he would come to severely regret. 'Things had been going too well' Nick thought, interrupting his reflection on recent events as he watched the morning sun climb past the city skyline. 'The universe would never let a fox have all that cake and eat it too' Having Nick in a position where everything came across his desk was a boon to the criminal world as well, and the crime rate in zootopia began to climb. Drug busts and raids were more and more frequently coming across abandoned setups, and while the ZPD would brag to the press about how much contraband they were seizing behind closed doors everyone was fuming that the dealers kept getting away. It wasn't long before there was talk. Everybody knew the ZPD had a leak, and tensions rose to an all time high despite the calm face put forward by its new chief. Something needed to be done. While Jerry in the archives may have been of tunnel dweller descent, the mole also made a decent scapegoat for being a rat. Hanging him out to dry and some contentious talks with Mr. Big where Nick convinced the tundra town strong man that just cause he had the chief of police in his pocket didn't mean he could give up on discretion, things settled down and most of the department was placated. But not Judy. The bunny cop was once again too smart and driven for her own good, and it wasn't long before she started looking into things discreetly on her own. Despite the warmth of his office and the golden rays of the sun, Nick shivered. He hated thinking about what happened next, and yet he constantly found it coming back to mind. It hadn“t taken long for Judy to find a lead. She tracked the flow of drugs back to a setup in the jungle district. The warehouse where they were manufacturing large quantities of street drugs was well hidden from prying eyes by the thick vegetation. judy killed nick quits police and goes into politics, elected mayor backed by mr big, runs on anti crime platform nick backstabs mr big and carries through on promised ceime crackdown, seeking revenge nick turns zootopia into authoritarian state nick realizes what hes done and commits suicide
