November 25th, 2561, 10:00am. This record of research and the advancement of science is curated by Dr. Lorenzo Deltanaud. This is record #3784. The contents of this record is the 3784th log pertaining to Test Subject 047, a juvenile bearing both DNA of the long extinct Dodo, said to have gone extinct as late as 1690 A.D, along with a recent descendant Avian species with similar traits. The intention of Zios Research and Development is and always has been to maintain the proper ethical procedures when dealing with genetic test subjects. To re-iterate, as has been done with every record: the research will always be conducted with the consent of the subject where applicable, in a safe and nurturing environment. 10:30am In line with theories recorded in logs #3772 and #3764, the main task of today's team is to carefully observe and examine whether there is any genetic deterioration in Subject 047's reproductive cycles. Observations over the past 60 days have revealed a tendency to puberty that would typically require further study, but through remote observation, signs of an advancement into maturity appears to be mostly confirmed. Subject 047's handler, Dr. Richard Tyxana and the in-house psychiatrist and therapist Dr. Fiona Hilvia arranged separate appointments back to back, starting first with Dr. Hilvia, to further discuss with Subject 047 about his puberty. (Addendum: Dr. Tyxana has expressed we refer to Subject 047 by his name: for the purposes of the record, his name is Oliver, named by myself, Dr. Deltanaud, at birth.) 11:32am The following is a report as provided by Dr. Hilvia. "As today marks 2 weeks since the last test, I first conducted a short memory test with Oliver before our session-- specifically a matching pairs memory game, as before. Oliver completed the puzzle within an acceptable time frame for a child his age, so it is my firm belief that he currently suffers no significant memory loss or impairment of functions. He is, by all accounts, a normal 10-year-old child. When asked about his puberty and changes in his body, Oliver was not receptive, and visibly embarrassed. I attempted to guide him into talking about it at his own pace, but he attempted to evade questions by remaining quiet or trying to change the subject. I made attempts to speak to him further about other matters and he was receptive to those and seemed relieved to change subjects. I believe that Oliver does not want to talk about his puberty to me due to my gender. At the end of our session, when I asked him to speak to Dr. Tyxana about his puberty, it is of my opinion that, though he brushed it off and avoided mentioning it, he appeared to be more inclined to that idea. I believe this is because he views Dr. Tyxana as an applicable father figure, and is more comfortable around him then I. I would implore the research team to have his Handler ask him directly." 12:14pm At Dr. Hilvia's suggestion and after some discussion, we sent Dr. Tyxana into Subject 047's chamber to speak with him directly as we observed through the one-way mirror. Dr. Hilvia's suggestion appears to have born fruit, for Subject 047 openly talked about the changes in his body with his Handler, though he appeared embarrassed. After a short discussion, Dr. Txyana returned to the research team and stated that it is in his opinion that Subject 047 is beginning to go through puberty. Plans are being made to extract seminal fluid so that we may research Subject 047's reproductive capabilities. In later trials, we will conduct artificial insemination into test embryos to see if conception is possible. Dr. Txyana has expressed that he would like to be the one to extract the seminal fluid, but could not provide a good reason. However, no-one else has volunteered, so he will take the lead. 1:30pm Dr. Txyana has completed his examination of Subject 047's body and has successfully extracted seminal fluid from the subject. The research team were unsure at first why he had taken so long-- to respect their privacy in a delicate situation, we were not in the observation room-- but Dr. Tyxana explained it was, in part, due to Subject 047's apprehensiveness to engage in arousal. Dr. Txyana explained that, at first, Subject 047 was not all that receptive to his engagement, and in the interest of providing a safe environment for the subject, as per Zios Lab's motto, he did not pressure the subject and let him move at his own pace. After some time, he encouraged the subject and eventually helped him to orgasm, allowing for the extraction of seminal fluid. Preparations will now begin to research the seminal fluid and its properties. 4:30pm The results of our research into Subject 047's seminal fluid have proved prosperous, and insightful. Upon initial examination, the subject's seminal fluid is as ordinary as any other male of most other species-- it is a composition of seminal plasma, intended to keep the sperm viable for as long as possible. There appears to be no further observations to make about its composition or the lifespan of the sperm cells. After our initial observation, we continued with our experiments in conception. Upon close examination, it is our belief that the sperm cells appear to have a 50% penetration rate into the provided eggs, but it is a small sample size. With our successfully conceived eggs, we will observe their growth meticulous in the next few months. We will also be collecting more seminal fluid, by way of Dr. Tyxana, to further explore its consistency and traits. Genetic testing will begin tomorrow. End of Report #3784.
