Sandy Livingston is an overweight gerbil that is very shy. However, she wasn’t always like that. You see, in her junior year of high school (she was 17 at the time); she was the most popular girl on the campus. In fact, she was the stereotypical popular girl. She was the head of the cheerleading squad, she dated the captain of the football team, she hung out with the “cute girls” and the “cool kids”, that sort of thing. She was also perhaps the most rude, selfish, and arrogant person in the whole school. She honestly believed that she was superior to everyone else, and she would constantly mock and humiliate those she deemed inferior (which was almost everyone). There were even times where she would insult other people for no reason; especially her own mother, who is very nice but also very timid. Sandy’s mother is also a heavy-set woman.
Anyway, she was a horrible person but people liked her; or rather, people liked the way she looked. She was thin but also considered very beautiful. No part of her body was particularly large in any way and people liked it. So much so, some people from various modeling agencies were actually talking to her about possibly giving her a modeling career after she graduated high school (which at that time she had a D average in all her classes).
Well, one day she was invited to a party that many people were invited to and at this party alcohol was being served. While at this party, she got completely smashed and she tried to drive herself home. Surprise, surprise, she crashed the family car into a tree in her neighbors’ yard and totaled it. Sandy herself was critically injured and had to be hospitalized. She stayed in the hospital for about a year and during that time she was either unconscious or heavily medicated. Sandy received a couple of surgeries to reduce the physical scarring of the accident and those surgeries were very successful. However, the chemicals and medicines used during the surgeries and her hospital stay caused her to gain weight and very quickly. By the time she became fully conscious, she discovered she had gained nearly 330 lbs (she was originally 115 lbs).
Naturally, she was shocked to discover how fat she was and she hated how huge her body had become. After a few months of physical therapy, she adapted to her new body shape. But in truth, that was relatively easy compared to what she had to endure back at her high school. At first, she tried to click back into her niche of popular girl, but she quickly realized that wouldn't be the case. Her boyfriend dumped her after seeing how fat she became and her “cute girl” friends wanted nothing to do with her anymore. She was thrown off the cheerleading squad and she was also mocked and humiliated by the very people she used to mock and humiliate. And to top everything off, the modeling agencies removed their offers of a modeling career.
She was devastated. She became consumed by sadness and self-loathing. But during that time, she came to a grand realization. She realized that the horrible treatment she was getting from the other students was the same treatment she had given other people. From her experience she learned humility, compassion, and empathy. From that day on, she became very polite and respectful and she now tries to be more considerate of other people's feelings. For a while, she spent much of her time apologizing to people for what she had done to them; and that was especially true with her mother.
Over the years she gained some more weight. The last time she was weighed she was at 592 lbs and she remained at that weight for nearly two years now. She was able to finish high school with a B average and her personality had now become very introverted. She would sometimes be painfully shy and there were also times where she would be easily embarrassed. She still hates how she looks but she’s slowly coming to terms with her appearance.
Other notes: Sandy has light blonde hair, light brown fur and sky blue eyes. She mostly wears large blue jeans, a white shirt, a green vest, and sneakers. She rarely wears skirts or dresses since she thinks she looks hideous in them.
