<86> The elder tauren slowly clambered to his hooves and helped pull Lyrah up as well, surveying the landscape curiously. "Revendreth... those adventurers' stories did not do this place justice." "Not one bit," Lyrah agreed and turned in a slow circle. "Do you think mom is here?" Drenan's gaze hardened. "I cannot say with certainty, but... I have my doubts. I do not know the origin of Saoirse's spell. There is no way she could have known which afterlife we needed to look through, and considering we did not land in Oribos...." "... Then maybe this is... our afterlife?" Lyrah mused. "Have we sinned that much?" The glance Drenan shot his daughter in response was akin to sarcastically asking 'Are you kidding?' without actually saying a word. "Perhaps," suddenly echoed a strange, ethereal voice. Both naked tauren whirled around to find the gaunt face of a strange, thin humanoid hovering beneath a wide parasol. A shock of white hair cascaded down his back, while a set of pitch black robes drifted so low that even his feet weren't visible. Stories of the venthyr had likewise reached Drenan and Lyrah's ears, though this one seemed perhaps a bit less... professional than the stories claimed. "Welcome to Revendreth, I am Talair, and I am to be your absolver... err... forgive me, I should know your names, how embarrassing...." Lyrah was quick to wave her hands defensively. "Oh! No, no, you've got it all wrong! We're still alive! We're just looking for someone." "Ah! Maw Walkers, then!" The absolver appeared to brighten up at this. Drenan frowned and gave his daughter's shoulder a squeeze. "Err... no, we have never been to the Maw," he clarified. "We found other means here, but we could use some help... navigating this place." The venthyr looked no less relieved. "So long as I don't have to hurt you two, I am grateful," he admitted. "I should have at least a little while before the guys up above realize their mistake. So, who is it you're looking for? Wait! Lemme guess," he interrupted, reaching out with one hand as a wave of blood red light shrouded both tauren briefly. "Hmm... yes, I see, right this way, quickly," he called, then suddenly turned away from them and began to hover Southward. Father and daughter exchanged hopeful glances and trotted after the venthyr, vainly attempting to keep their hands over their sensitive bits as they walked. The venthyr hadn't even acknowledged their nudity, however, which both of them were quite fine with. "Where are we going?" Lyrah dared to ask. "Not far," Talair echoed cheerfully. "This particular soul arrived not too long ago, but I can sense there was a connection to you two. Perhaps seeing you both will grant him some closure and help him to atone for his sins." "His?" Drenan rumbled, but the venthyr stopped before he could answer. Their path had led them to a wide circle of metal fencing where four thick chains reached out like the web of a dark spider. At its center was the clear visage of a tauren soul, where all four chains were latched onto its ankles and wrists, keeping it firmly in place. The venthyr waved for Drenan and Lyrah to draw closer, and as they did, the soul's form took shape... and darkness clouded the couple's expressions. An emaciated-looking tauren male stood before them, his tattered robes barely clinging to his underfed limbs. Sunken eyes stared back at them with a surprising intensity, framed by a shaggy, disheveled mane and beard that ran down to his waist. The male scoffed and seemed to grow a bit stronger as he stared them down, forcing Lyrah in particular to tighten her grip over her own bust and nethers. "And here I thought... I would find rest from my torment..." rasped the shadow of ex-Farseer Keldah. A deep-seated rage seethed in Drenan's eyes upon realizing who it was he looked at. "You... I should have-" "But you didn't, did you...?" Keldah spat. "You didn't need to kill me. The spirits... they came for me in the sands of Tanaris in the form of a measly scorpion." "You did that to yourself," Lyrah spat right back, eyeing his pathetic-looking form angrily. "Maybe you wouldn't be so damn hateful if you got that into your bloodless head." Keldah scoffed, his chains rattling as he attempted to take a step closer, but hardly even had the strength to fight the heavy chains. "Were it not for your insolence, whore, I would still be alive and thriving in Orgrimmar-" "-Preying on innocent women!" Drenan roared angrily. "As if you are any better!?" Keldah rasped right back. "Tell me you believe yourself to be innocent, Drenan! I saw it in your soul from the moment your daughter was born, and I said as much at the time!" Drenan's powerful arms flexed, as if preparing to lash out at the spirit at a moment's notice... until Lyrah's gentle hand touched down upon his shoulder. "Daddy... don't listen to him," she insisted much more calmly. "He doesn't understand." Talair had watched the spectacle with intense intrigue up until this point. The otherworldly venthyr slowly drifted forward off to one side and echoed, "Then perhaps you can help him to understand?" The ex-paladin shook his head. "I don't-" "Keldah," Lyrah cut her father off and stepped in front of Drenan, planting her hands confidently upon her hips. Unlike so long ago, there was no fear in her eyes as she stared down the lecherous tauren. "What you did... what you tried to do... was your folly. I came to you for knowledge, for guidance, and for years I placed my trust in you! And the moment your twisted mind deemed it, you betrayed that trust in one fell swoop, and you know it. You know that your actions caused your downfall, that you tried desperately to impose your will upon me, upon others, under the guise of tutelage. It wouldn't have mattered if I had complied or denied you. It was that betrayal that forever sealed your fate here in Revendreth, and earned the everburning ire of both me and my dad. That is something that you will carry with you for eternity in the afterlife." For once, Keldah actually seemed to be listening as Lyrah spoke, though even with her nakedness before him, he averted his eyes. "And you compare yourself to my father," she continued a bit more softly. "My father, the male who had helped give me life, who raised me all on his own for fifteen years and more without ever being asked to do so. The tauren I loved before I even knew what love was, who tended my injuries when I grew too bold. Drenan Lighthand, who succumbed to almost everything and anything I ever asked for, even when it was something he knew he shouldn't give. The bull who sacrificed his spiritual and holy connection to An'she, the Light itself, just so he could be with me and make me happy. That male is a saint compared to you. He has never betrayed me. We deal with our issues together. He concerns himself with my pleasure above all else, and if these taboo sins are what brought us here, then I will gladly spend my days of death in Revendreth, if it means getting to stay with him!"
