"writing": "<165>\n\n\tDrenan nuzzled his daughter affectionately. “That is in the past. I am just thankful you made it through unscathed and in good spirits.”\n\n\tLyrah smiled and hugged him gently. “Yeah, well… I wish I had done it sooner. I learned a lot, and apparently I got this sick flail out of it,” she added with a laugh. “I think it was supposed to be a staff, but I chose to make it different.”\n\n\t“Fascinating,” Drenan rumbled and looked over the weapon. “I know you said something recently about not being able to protect your family. Perhaps the spirits wished to aid you in that as well?”\n\n\t“Maybe,” Lyrah said, smiling as she inspected the flail again. “I actually got to talk to Mom again, but not for very long. We- hey, where’s Kacheya?”\n\n\tDrenan went wide-eyed. “I have not seen her since you fell asleep.” He was good and ready to go into a panic, however as if on cue, a sharp tapping rang out against the kitchen window. Perched on the sill was a soaking wet Kacheya, and Drenan hurriedly let her in so she could dry her feathers, trilling in appreciation. The hunter took a moment to try and help his companion, who seemed no worse for wear, nor did she show any resentment toward him.\n\n\t“She was with me,” Lyrah explained when they had settled. “And… she’s kinda also Mom.”\n\n\tDrenan paused, looking between Lyrah and Kacheya, then back again. “I figured.”\n\n\tLyrah had to chuckle. “Really? How?!”\n\n\t“Your mother has a… unique presence about her, and I knew something felt familiar about Kacheya after I got to know her a bit. Having confirmation about it does not change anything, but it reaffirms my decision to work with Kacheya.” The bull scritched the owl under her chin, causing her to trill yet again while perched on the back of another chair. “I have spoken to her many times in private, just confiding my personal thoughts. In a way, it feels good to know she can hear me, even if she cannot tell me that.”\n\n\tLyrah smiled wide. “You really loved her, huh?”\n\n\t“With all my heart,” Drenan admitted with a smile. “Just as I love our daughter, and my new wife,” he added with a chuckle. “Our love is different, but no less strong.”\n\n\tLyrah hugged him tight. “Agreed. But yeah! Mom was who I ran into last. At first it was Magatha,” she said with a sour look on her face. “But she didn’t stick around long, and I don’t think I reached the outcome she wanted anyway. I met a guy named Jevak, who I guess is the leader of a defected group of Grimtotems? I’d never heard of them before. He was very nice though, and he gave me a lot to think about when the Grimtotem tribe starts… demanding more of me.”\n\n\t“I have heard that name before,” Drenan admitted, “But for the life of me I cannot remember where I heard it.”\n\n\t“I think we should talk to him sometime, but not now. I trust Saratha’s decision-making for the time being, and things won’t get dicey until Magatha’s totally gone.”\n\n\tDrenan nodded. “Were there other spirits as well?”\n\n\tLyrah went quiet for a moment at this. “There were. Two of them. Ancestors of mine.”\n\n\tLyrah looked down at the table, and her silence was already drawing Drenan’s suspicion. “That is alright. You need not speak of your trip any further.”\n\n\t“No, no, it’s okay,” Lyrah insisted. “I was just-”\n\n\tDrenan abruptly got up from the table. “We need to focus on the ‘now’, regardless of what you have been told.” He started to walk toward the living room.\n\n\tLyrah lowered her brow. “Dad, wait. Seriously, I think this is important-”\n\n\t“The past should remain in the past,” Drenan said more firmly.\n\n\t“But we can learn from the past!” Lyrah called and got up as well. “Dad, I think this might be valuable to-”\n\n\t“Lyrah!” the bull boomed, and the shaman went quiet. It was obvious Drenan was struggling not to do something for dramatic effect, but he wouldn’t look at her. “I ask –no, beg– to let this alone,” he said much more shakily.\n\n\tBut Lyrah was not afraid of him, and she walked up behind him to gently take his shaking hand. “I… I can’t,” Lyrah said softly. “I got to meet grandma and grandpa. They had a lot to say.”\n\n\tDrenan remained frozen in the middle of the room. “Excuses,” he was able to eke out.\n\n\t“No, no,” Lyrah insisted, speaking quickly in hopes that he might not cut her off again. “I sensed no lies in their words, and they made no excuses for their actions… but they also said how proud they were of you that you broke the cycle that they and their own parents were part of.”\n\n\tDrenan didn’t move or speak.\n\n\tLyrah waited to be certain, then continued. “Y-your dad… he was driven by vengeance, and he regretted letting it cloud his judgment. Your mom, well… she didn’t use your dad’s death as an excuse, but she regretted pushing you the way she did. They both… kinda felt like they got what they deserved for their actions… especially your mom.”\n\n\tDrenan’s hand gripped hers tighter, and after a long moment, he spoke again. “Did… did she suffer?”\n\n\tThe shaman couldn’t read his tone well, but couldn’t help but feel a bit concerned. “Um… sort of. She was captured by Grimtotems–”\n\n\t“I know.”\n\n\t“–and brought to face your father’s mother.”\n\n\tDrenan visibly flinched, then turned to look at her, truly shocked. “What?”\n\n\tLyrah didn’t back down. “Yeah… I guess she was your mom’s mother-in-law, right? Well she was kinda horrible and blamed your mom for your dad’s death… so she took care of your mom out of revenge.”\n\n\tDrenan exhaled slowly through his nose. “... And how did my father pass?”\n\n\t“He… fell off a mountain after he’d had his skull split by a harpy,” Lyrah confessed. “At least that’s what they told me. It was an accident.”\n\n\tThe bull looked past Lyrah and out one of the large windows to the pouring rain outside. His gaze went unfocused, as if staring thousands of miles beyond the rain… and all at once the dam broke. His lip quivered, his eyes slid shut, and for the first time that Lyrah had ever seen, Drenan collapsed, crying uncontrollably. Lyrah flung herself onto him and hugged him tight, and the hunter did the same to his daughter, burying his face in her neck and mane as decades of sorrow and pain escaped him. Lyrah didn’t fully understand, but she held him nonetheless, shedding tears for him and trying her best to soothe him by stroking his mane. This carried on for a few long minutes, until Drenan was able to calm himself enough to eke out, “I’m… sorry….”\n\n\t“Shhhhhhhh,” Lyrah cooed and kissed him, cupping his face and holding him to look her in the eye. “Don’t be sorry for a second. You can talk to me.”\n",

And how did my father pass?&rdquo;<br /><br />\t&ldquo;He&hellip; fell off a mountain after he&rsquo;d had his skull split by a harpy,&rdquo; Lyrah confessed.&nbsp;&nbsp;&ldquo; At least that&rsquo;s what they told me.&nbsp;&nbsp; It was an accident.&rdquo;<br /><br />\tThe bull looked past Lyrah and out one of the large windows to the pouring rain outside.&nbsp;&nbsp; His gaze went unfocused, as if staring thousands of miles beyond the rain&hellip; and all at once the dam broke.&nbsp;&nbsp; His lip quivered, his eyes slid shut, and for the first time that Lyrah had ever seen, Drenan collapsed, crying uncontrollably.&nbsp;&nbsp;Lyrah flung herself onto him and hugged him tight, and the hunter did the same to his daughter, burying his face in her neck and mane as decades of sorrow and pain escaped him.&nbsp;&nbsp;Lyrah didn&rsquo;t fully understand, but she held him nonetheless, shedding tears for him and trying her best to soothe him by stroking his mane.&nbsp;&nbsp; This carried on for a few long minutes, until Drenan was able to calm himself enough to eke out, &ldquo;I&rsquo;m&hellip; sorry&hellip;.&rdquo;<br /><br />\t&ldquo;Shhhhhhhh,&rdquo; Lyrah cooed and kissed him, cupping his face and holding him to look her in the eye.&nbsp;&nbsp;&ldquo;Don&rsquo;t be sorry for a second.&nbsp;&nbsp; You can talk to me.&rdquo;<br /></span>",
