"writing": "<158>\n\n\tLyrah squinted at them, then her eyes went wide. “Oh! You’re the two druids from Ardenweald, right?”\n\n\tThey looked at each other and laughed. “Well, I was a druid when I was alive,” the feminine voice echoed. “He was a fierce warrior.”\n\n\t“Oh stop,” the masculine beast returned, earning a giggle from the feminine feline. “I may have thought so long ago, but no longer.”\n\n\tThe shaman smiled, but looked at both of them with confusion. “So… I know Ardenweald is tied to the spirit world and all, but… why are you two here? Like, right now? I only ever met you both once.”\n\n\tThe two beasts exchanged glances. “I suppose this might be a more fitting form,” the female echoed. Both of their spiritual forms began to quiver, then fade, instead morphing into a pair of tauren when they re-solidified.\n\n\tLyrah gasped and covered her mouth. The male tauren was almost a spitting image of her father, although his abdomen was more toned, and his long horns were both intact. A deep scar appeared between his eyes and disappeared among his mane, but even in his ethereal form, she could tell he had those same, piercing, azure eyes. The female tauren, to Lyrah’s surprise, made her think she was looking into a warped mirror of herself. Her hair was elegantly braided, and she, too, was quite soft around the belly, though her breasts were not nearly as large. She bore a series of scars along her pliable thighs and forearms, and her face had slightly thicker fur about it. The bull’s fur was that same, light almond color, though the female’s was a mixture of black and white patches. And, of course, both of them were stark naked, not that it mattered in that moment. “You’re… you’re my grandparents, aren’t you?”\n\n\tThe male sighed deeply and sadly. “I am Kathark Snowpeak, and this is my life-mate, Theira, once of the Arrowsplit tribe. Drenan is, indeed, our son, but…”\n\n\t“... we feel we lost the right to call him our son long ago,” Theira finished for him, the sadness thick in her voice.\n\n\tLyrah offered her a sad look. “Forgive me, but… would it be improper to ask why? Dad never really talked about you guys, like, at all. I-I asked a few times, but that’s one thing he brushed off pretty much every time.”\n\n\tThe tauren couple looked at each other sadly. “Perhaps we shouldn’t, Kathark.”\n\n\t”Theira… she is our granddaughter. She has the right to know.”\n\n\tTheira looked ready to disappear if she could. “Drenan may hate us even more.”\n\n\t”And what do we have to lose?” Karthak persisted.\n\n\t”Please?” Lyrah implored them desperately. “If I don’t hear it from you two, I may never get to know our family history. I promise it won’t affect things with my dad.”\n\n\tLyrah’s grandparents sighed. “Best sit down, dear. It’s a long story,” Theira said gently.\n\n\tOnce all three of them were seated, Karthak bowed his head. “I should begin with my history, for much of his enmity toward us started with me. I was born among the Snowpeak tribe in the Stonetalon Mountains. My father was chieftain of our tribe. My mother was… overbearing to say the least. I had an older brother, who she never let out of her sight.” The bull rubbed his upper arm, and his eyes turned toward the ground. “He was their favorite. He was meant to be the next chieftain.”\n\n\tLyrah looked at him curiously, but dared not interrupt his train of thought.\n\n\t”He was everything I was not. He was strong, fierce, and remarkably compassionate. He despised our parents as much as I did for their favoritism. Datch was the only tauren I could rely on… until he was not.” Karthak paused her, clearly struggling to articulate his thoughts. “There was a harpy raid on our small tribe when I was only fourteen. It was retaliatory after my father had struck out at them during one of our more recent raids. My father perished in the initial attack… and Datch died protecting me. My mother and I were the tribe’s only survivors, but I had no love for my mother. She blamed me for my father and brother’s deaths, so I just… abandoned her. I wandered the mountains for weeks. I learned to survive, and I was forced to be strong, wanting to live up to my brother’s memory. It was mere chance that I dragged myself into a clearing among the mountains, half dead and starving…”\n\n\t”… and I found the stubborn bull who wanted to give up the ghost,” Theira finished with half a chuckle. “I was eighteen at the time, and I had to beg my mother to let him in and bring him back to life. He was stubborn, angry, hurt… but he was alive. He stayed with us for a full year, healing broken bones and repeatedly having to re-fix him when he’d push his half-healed body too far.”\n\n\t”I was young and dumb,” Karthak admitted. “I would not have made it without you.”\n\n\tLyrah couldn’t hide a smile as she watched their exchange. “That’s kinda sweet, grandma.”\n\n\tTheira chuckled. “On parchment, yes. When he was fully healed, he was determined to leave again. He kept talking about vengeance for his family, and I… well, I was smitten. My mother hated me for it, but I wanted to go with him. I was cast out from the Arrowsplit tribe for my decision, and it became us against the rest of Azeroth.”\n\n\t”And, well… when two young tauren are on their own together,” Karthak sighed.\n\n\tTheira giggled. “Aside from ensuring any harpy in sight did not live, we spent many nights together just… talking, at least at first.”\n\n\t”And, well, when you get to know someone well enough…”\n\n\tLyrah bit back a snicker. “I’m guessing that’s how Dad came about, huh?”\n\n\tBoth tauren blushed at each other. “Indeed,” Theira added. “We didn’t even know he was there until my belly started swelling.”\n",
