"writing": "<157>\n\nAs if driven by instinct, Lyrah placed a hand between her breasts. “Am I… am I gonna have to ask for everyone in the spirit world to spell out what they’re trying to say?”\n\nJevak let out a hearty laugh at this. “You might, but you may not always get the answer you want to hear. Just… think about it. Meditate on it. I can tell that the word ‘Grimtotem’ still needles your heart with fear and disdain. I wish it did not, for we are all just tauren when the Earthmother takes us.” Jevak closed his eyes. “I fear I have no more time to spare. Good luck, Lyrah. May An’she guide you.” And with that, the spirit vanished, and Kacheya flew over to perch herself on Lyrah’s shoulder instead.\n\nLyrah exhaled through her nostrils and shut her eyes. She had a lot to digest.\n\n* * * * *\n\n\t“This the place?” Groa said, clearly unimpressed. “Not much here. Nothing, in fact.”\n\n\tDrenan snorted sharply as he gazed upon the patch of land that he and Lyrah now owned. He had imagined this moment to be a joyous occasion, one that the two of them would share together, to see the untouched land before changing it to make it their own. But the only emotion on his face was a mixture of sadness and frustration, for Lyrah still slept soundly in his arms, and the thought of setting her down at all pained him with worry. “It is our home,” he rumbled deeply.\n\n\t“It will be I suppose,” Groa returned and unceremoniously spat on the grass nearby. “I do expect you won’t make me watch over your wife without some kind of shelter, right?”\n\n\tA deep, growl-like rumble left Drenan’s chest as he glanced over at the demanding orc. “We just got here.”\n\n\t“And it’s still morning. You have plenty of time to get something over our heads.”\n\nDrenan swung around to fully face the orc, who in turn appeared far from intimidated by the angry-looking bull. “Hey, I’m here to take care of her,” she said and gestured at Lyrah. “I can leave if you’d prefer, but I’m not coming back if I do.”\n\nThe hunter snorted, then reluctantly walked over beneath a particularly large, red-leafed tree and gently laid Lyrah down. “You will watch over her and tell me if I am needed?”\n\n”That’s… why I’m here,” the orc returned dryly and knelt down next to Lyrah. “The Light will preserve her until she wakes, but I cannot wake her, lest I break her spirit. But she is in good hands.”\n\nDrenan relaxed just a little bit at this and looked the orc in the eye. “Thank you.”\n\n”You’re welcome, now get busy, bull. I’m working here.”\n\nThe hunter grimaced, but he didn’t need to be told twice. Off he went with his spear, and with a few well-placed slashes, several smaller trees came tumbling down to form a clean clearing for his future home. The enchanted weapon sliced through the wood as if it were butter, making quick work of the lumber. Soon enough, he had four posts driven into the ground around Lyrah and Groa. The orc barely paid him any mind throughout the process, and with a snort the hunter left the patch of land and sought out the nearest settlement, where he was able to purchase a large enough cloth to use as a canopy over the four posts. “There, happy?” Drenan grunted as he tied the last corner.\n\n”Mmmh, your knotwork is sloppy, but I’ll take it,” Groa returned without even looking up at him. “Now go do your house next and stop worrying about us.”\n\nDrenan looked back at the now-empty clearing, then back at the callous orc. “How is she doing?”\n\n“Same as ever, still sleeping so soundly that an earthquake wouldn’t wake her. Might as well be dead, y’know?”\n\nAt that moment, Drenan saw red. “What is your problem!?” he boomed and drove one hoof into the ground forcefully enough to startle the orc. “Do you have no sense of empathy? You are watching over a living woman with an entire life’s story, yet you speak of her and treat her as if she were dead already!”\n\nContrary to Drenan’s fury, Groa was unfazed, though she did make eye contact with him… as she shrugged again. “What more do you want from me? There’s nothing else I can do but keep her nourished.”\n\nDrenan’s hands balled into trembling fists. “And… and what of our baby?”\n\nThe orc’s initial hesitation injected fear into Drenan’s mind, but she placed a hand on Lyrah’s belly, and a golden glow enveloped her hand. “Baby’s fine. Baby will be fine as long as she is fine. Cow-folks like her are pretty tough-”\n\n“HER NAME IS LYRAH!” Drenan roared angrily, then without another word his spat on the ground, spun on his hoof, and went back to collecting lumber to start on the house properly.\n\nGroa remained unfazed, but she did narrow her eyes as she watched him start his work. “Been drinking that dumb bull juice lately,” she muttered under her breath.\n\n* * * * *\n\n\tIn the spirit world, Lyrah opened her eyes, having struggled to wrap her mind around Jevan’s words for quite some time… though she got the keen sense that time didn’t quite flow the same way here that it did on the material plane. She knew not exactly how long she’d been meditating when she stood again, but to her surprise she realized the staff in her grasp had changed. Its tip was now adorned with a wooden carving of an armored tauren, whose horns and armor spikes made up a series of sharp points that jutted out in all directions. “Whoa… I guess I did something right?” She mused to herself. “I mean, I don’t wanna hurt anyone, but I also wanna protect my family… and kinda my tribe. On her shoulder, Kacheya trilled and nuzzled her mane, but when Lyrah tried to give her a scritch, the owl shrieked and launched off her shoulder. Before Lyrah could protest, Kacheya took off flying, this time heading more to the northwest. “Hey, wait up!” Lyrah called, willing her spirit to fly once more in pursuit of her peculiar guide.\n\n\tThis flight was a bit shorter, but the two of them left Tanaan behind, and instead flew low above the massive trees of Gorgrond. Kacheya took an unexpected nosedive over the thick jungle, but Lyrah was determined not to lose her only immediate familiar face to the material plane so easily. Down among the trees they went, though there was no need to dodge or weave between them, as their spirits passed right through most everything. Then, Kacheya let out another cry, and Lyrah looked down below to see a pair of large felines seated in a small clearing. Curious –especially considering there wasn’t really anything else alive to take note of– Lyrah flew down to land with ease several feet from the felines. “Greetings, Lyrah. Long time no see!” one of them echoed in a masculine voice.\n",
