"writing": "<126>\n\n\tDrenan grinned from ear to ear when he drew back. “Where on Azeroth have you been, Rask!? I sent a dozen letters over the years with no response!”\n\n\tRask grinned right back. “Yeah, well… sorry, I guess. It sounds like you’ve been well?”\n\n\t“As well as can be expected, all things considered. It has not been easy, but it has been a good journey. We have much to catch up on.”\n\n\t“Later, surely. Will I get to meet your bride to be? I didn’t think you would ever marry again after… you know.”\n\n\tDrenan hesitated, as the two of them began to walk in Surwich’s direction. “About that….”\n\n\tRask glanced at him sideways, and after a quiet moment he said, “It’s Lyrah, isn’t it?”\n\n\tDrenan flinched visibly. “How on Azeroth-”\n\n\tThe dark-furred bull chuckled. “Soren spilled it when he came to get me. In fact, had he not said so, I might not’ve come. I’ve heard too many stories of men remarrying and losing their children in favor of their new spouses. I don’t think that’s possible in your boots.”\n\n\tDrenan studied his old friend’s golden gaze for a few moments, but found him impossible to read, as expected. “So… uh… are you still coming to the wedding?”\n\n\tRask immediately burst into a hearty belly-laugh, then smacked Drenan jovially on the back. “I wouldn’t miss it for anything!”\n\n\t“Then it does not bother you?” Drenan rumbled, still trying to get a bead on Rask’s odd response.\n\n\t“It’s a wedding. Of course it bothers me. I hate crowds,” Rask rumbled bluntly, but still had a smile on his face. “But I don’t forget folks who saved my life multiple times, and some people I’d do anything for.”\n\n\t“Like writing to them?” Drenan echoed somewhat pointedly.\n\n\t“Like attending my goddaughter’s wedding,” Rask returned, completely ignoring Drenan’s dig.\n\n\tInternally, Drenan didn’t know what to think, but instead he turned the conversation to lighter topics as they walked. Rask skillfully dodged many questions about his goings-on for the previous ten years, and he simply nodded along when Drenan tried to recount some of his own recent adventures.\n\n\tThe moment Surwich came into sight, however, Rask stopped mid-sentence and froze in place. “Rask?” Drenan echoed.\n\n\tThe black-furred bull twitched visibly, unable to take his eyes off the town. “I’m not taking another step toward that damned Alliance town.”\n\n\tDrenan showed no anger or impatience. “That was a long time ago, Rask. Things have changed.”\n\n\t“I don’t give a shit. I’m not doing it.” His chest rose and fell more rapidly, but he was clearly trying hard to steady his breathing.\n\n\tDrenan gently touched his friend’s arm and turned him away from the town. “Lyrah will still want to see you.”\n\n\t“Fine,” Rask spoke with a gasp, as if he’d been holding his breath. “I’m gonna set up camp in the swamp then. ‘Least there’ll be fresh water there.” He seemed to perk up after a few moments away, and Rask’s smile returned. “I won’t be hard to find, I promise. I’d love to see her again. Think she’ll remember me?”\n\n\tDrenan returned his smile as Rask hurriedly made for the westward swamp. “She never forgot you, I am certain.”\n\n\t* * * * *\n\n\t“This swamp isn’t that bad, actually,” Lyrah mused as she clung to her father’s hand, looking to and fro. “No smell, the water pools all look clean, and I haven’t found a super soupy patch yet. Think we could stay here?”\n\n\tDrenan chuckled. “Tolerable, but not ideal, I feel. I’m not fond of the smell.”\n\n\t“Mmh, me neither. But that reminds me: Why are we out here anyway?”\n\n\t“You’ll see. Not much further.”\n\n\tLyrah puffed out her cheeks in frustration, but the feeling melted as she caught sight of a small, makeshift encampment. A camouflaged tent was hung between several trees, and in front of a small fire pit sat the black-furred tauren. “UNCLE RASK!?” Lyrah cried.\n\n\tThe bull’s brow arched in surprise. “You remember me, huh?”\n\n\tRask started to stand, but didn’t get the chance before Lyrah practically flung herself at him, throwing her arms around his shoulders in a fierce hug. A strange series of half-laughs, half-sobs of joy left her, and she drew back to smile at him and sniffle away a few tears. “Of course I do! I loved your stories when I was little! How have you been?! Where have you been!?”\n\n\tRask laughed and gently returned her embrace. “Come now, Ly-ly, you know the Sunwalkers would be lost without me if I just up and left!”\n\n\tLyrah giggled, and for a moment both Rask and Drenan saw the little tauren girl who’d pester Rask incessantly for stories, even if he was mid-sentence with Drenan. All three of them sat down in Rask’s encampment to indulge her, and Rask happily rehashed a number of his old stories from his glory days, as well as a few new ones. Lyrah remained seated securely on his lap as he spoke, enthralled by his words as if not a day had passed since their last meeting.\n\n\t“And that void elemental… I squared off against it and drew my sword, glaring at the bastard, and I tell you… it began to shrink just by looking at it! And I roared at it, threatening it and its kin for its attempt to run, you see, then charged it head-on, blade in the lead!”\n\n\tLyrah was utterly enchanted by the new story. “And then!?”\n\n\t“And-” Rask started, and for a brief moment his smile faded. He hesitated, only briefly, then resumed his cocky demeanor. “And I cleaved it in two with but a single strike! The Light had my back that day!”\n\n\tLyrah giggled joyfully while Drenan watched from nearby. He was overjoyed to see Lyrah so happy, especially before their wedding, and something about seeing her so close to Rask… he couldn’t quite put his finger on it, but ultimately it made him appreciate her and his friend all over again. “Sadly, the light does not last,” Drenan echoed and gestured toward the waning sunlight. “We had best not tarry much longer, sweetheart.”\n",
