"description": "I have been binging on \"I didn't know I was pregnant' whoops \n\nand now Dr. Wilder.\n\nSurprise! \n\nWinter was a busy season for the Healer caste. Doctors of all stripes had their talons and in my case-hands busy. Some were teaching newly casted drakkhani how to grind herbs to be preserved, or how to bandage a wing or tail. Some were organizing and writing down inventory, or checking patients. The dia was busy and I was in the thick of it so much so that I was surprised about the following spring wit one of my colleagues \n\nMeadow Joy, was a drakkhani of a similar rank and status as Red Bird who ran the Hall. An elder drakkhani with sunny yellow skin and pale hair she and Bird talked often on who had what jobs during the day. I knew Joy had trouble bearing children, like Cinder she never had many opportunities, she also was out of season when it came to estrus. I know this from talking to her, it was her personal knowledge that help many of the clan who wanted but couldn't conceive. \n\nI was treating several younglings who were sick with den-flu, a common aliment during the winter. Joy arrived looking a tad puzzled. \n“Hmmph, Brax, do you smell Bird around?” She asked clipped, her cheeks bluish from blushing. She rubbed her back and wings. \n“Che, no I haven't seen her, she must be working with our newer healers, is something wrong?” I asked, she looked puzzled but Joy waved me off and walked out of the room. \n\nThe following weeks, I saw similar behavior, she would be tired suddenly or eating more. I was worried. The thought of Joy being pregnant flitted through my head, but I was sure to be wrong. After all she was hardly in heat, and she and her mate couldn't conceive for years. Even drakkhani who would know by smell, would pick up pregnancy in days. As spring arrived, I was expecting baby season to be vigorous. Already I had a drakk, in labor, birthing the first child of the season. Joy was with him, when she paused and left the room rubbing her back. \n\n“You have been acting funny the passed days, you alright sister?” I asked as Joy pushed some white hair out of her wrinked face. She growled and then braced again. \n“Naja,” She said addressing me as a low-ranked healer, “I am-” She paused. “I feel pain down my back, between my wings on my tail. AH, It hurts.” she hissed flaring her nose, a second I heard the cry of the new clan-mate. Joy took that signal to move to room to rest. But she will find no rest, I discovered as I walked in with Red Bird following her. \n“Sister, you not well. Are you sick with the flu? Let Brax treat, he can't get it.” She offered, but Joy cried out squating in pain. Something was dire, I steadied her as she braced again. My suspicions were verified when I heard the splash of water on the stone between her legs. Bird gasped, eyes wide, \n\n“Joy! You're in labor!” \nThe yellow drakkhani looked horrified and baffled as she braced again. She sat on the covered exam table spreading her legs, as her puffy folds bulged out. It was truly a shock. She showed no symptoms or smell, she didn't seem to have gain weight either? I was just as blow away as she was. \n“HOW? I couldn't have children, the clan agreed that I was out of season, for years....and now? AH GODS” She held on with a howl, snarling as the baby descended, I could see it crowning, black hair. She pushed again as it slowly emerged. I got on my knees, as she pushed out the head, the shoulders and wings slipped out just as the rest of her poured out of her very surprised mother. Joy gasped, and screamed as the last of her emerged. Red Bird wasted to time to cut the cord and help Joy deliever the placenta. The baby girl was healthy and vigorous having her mother sunny appearance. A moment later after several cries and wailing she was swaddled and given to Joy. \n\n“A surprise indeed, you snucked up on me little one, the clan is going to admire your stealth as you get older.” He said tenderly laying on the table holding the new clan member, she growled handing it to Red Bird. \n“Name..she needs a name for the nursery...Red Bird, call her Sudden Blessing, that is what the clan will know her by, her unexpected arrival.” ",
