He gulped before buckling it tight. \n\nFifi came closer and put her right foot paw into his cage. \"You weel kees your mistress,\" she said in a demanding voice. \n\nJohnny stared at her paw. \n\n\"Kees!\" she demanded again. She stared down at him. \n\nJohnny knelt and kissed her paw just a little bit. \n\n\"Non, mon slave,\" sha said, \"Zate ees not enough. Vous must show your mistress zee true affection.\" \n\nJohnny looked up at her then cradled her paw gently, then kissed it seriously. He nibbled her toes and massaged her pawpad. Johnny hadn't even thought of their presence until then. She turned her back on him and pressed her rear against the bars of his cage. \"You weel kees,\" she said, \"until your mistress ees satisfied or here you weel stay.\" She raised her tail high and spread her cheeks wide. \n\nJohnny recoiled. He tried to hide in the far corner of the cage. \n\n\"Vous weel [i]kees[/i],\" she said again, \"or your mistress shall spray vous and leave you 'ere!\" \n\nJohnny shuddered. The blue skunk sat in despair.  The only light in his prison came from a bare bulb overhead.  The sounds of creatures in hopeless captivity echoed in the basement.  The stink of animals in need of a diaper change filled the air.  Somewhere nearby there came a rustling in the darkness.  Something not in a cage moved.  

A mauve skunk slinked out of the shadows and sidled up to the cage where he lay.  Johnny immediately jumped to his paws and rushed to the bars of his cage.  "Oh, Fluffy!" he shouted, "You've come to save me!"  

The other skunk held up a key dangling from a brass ring teasingly.  "Mayhap I do or perhaps not, monsieur Pew," she said harshly, "I come to release zee ozer poor creatures but you weel have to prove you're worzy. and my name ees Fifi, not zee Flooffy. To you, for your insult I shall be 'Madame Josephine' or I shall leave vous!"  

The skunk in the cage shrank back from her.  "I'm awfully sorry, Fif… Josephine," he said, "I didn't mean to treat you so bad."  

"Madam Josephine or no deal," she said.  

Johnny bowed his head.  "Madam Josephine," he said meekly.  

"Zat ees better," Fifi said, "Now eef I release vou, you weel be moi personal boy of zee harem for as long as I like, non?"  

"I, uh, you can't do that!" he said, outraged.  

"Mayhap you prefer your present mistress?" she said, "With zee nappies an zee squeezing?"  She jingled the key again.
