Jument does not seek people out, fearing she will eat them. She seeks peace over violence. This causes conflict when she crosses her species who despise her and call her weak. She prefers to stay hidden and observe others from a distance. Humans intrigue her and more than once she has been spotted near villages closely connected to rivers and swamps.

She lives near La Rochelle, France, in the Bay of Biscay. There have been multiple sightings of her all along the coast, though never outside the bay area. She sticks close to land, and can be seen sitting atop rocks jutting from the water, watching ships as they pass, and people on the docks.
