You move with the intent of starting a quick search, but feeling the dryness in your mouth you realize that it would be more wise to first have something to drink. You turn towards the supply wagon, built similarly to your own but lacking a top half. It had been loaded with barrels of food and water, enough to keep everybody among the caravan fed and alive throughout the journey, plus enough for a few days extra just in case.\n\nYou head over and grab one of the cups hanging off the side of the supply wagon from the hooks, placing it under the spigot of a small water barrel strapped to the side. You turn the handle and, immediately, fresh water begins pouring through. You let it run for a few seconds, long enough to fill the cup, before turning the handle again. Without so much as another thought, you take a long drink from the cup and chug down its contents until the cup is once more empty, letting the water wash away the dryness of your throat.\n\nhttps://gyazo.com/7add5e9d7bd76b3ee2bf35344294761f\n\n(Hope you all enjoy the little image here, it's one of many that will come with this series :D)\n\n[Thirst: +500ml]\n\nWith your thirst slaked for now, you place the cup back on the hook and start looking around the encampment for any clues to where your siblings might have run off to. At the moment it seems that everybody is getting ready to return to the roads- servants and attendants packing up supplies and beddings, filling in their fire pits, guards putting their weapons and tents into the few smaller wagons that housed them all during daylight hours, drivers and horse handlers hitching their steeds onto the yokes- and in it all, you try to pick up a trail to your younger brother and sister.\n\n[Perception Check: Natural 1 - Critical Failure]\nhttps://gyazo.com/d8fe3e1aeb2c624f2d7726dce5ac0fe1\n\nYou don't notice anything helpful, in fact you stop searching after just a few seconds, spotting Gerard hoisting up a small crate to be put elsewhere. You see that it looks a bit heavy for his old bones, so you move towards him to help.\n\n\"Ho there, Gerard. You look like you could use some help.\" The elderly dove turns his head to look at you, but doesn't cease in his tireless labors.\n\n\"Ah, master Andrew, that's quite alright. I have my duties well in hand.\" You shake your head in some distaste. You never did take well to being called \"master,\" but you understood that nobility culture was stringent and prideful, unmalleable. Of course, that goes for your parents as much as any other noble, they would hate to be seen as anything other than superior to the common rabble and, without any doubt, they would want only the best for- and from- their children as well.\n\n\"Allow me to help you, Gerard. I insist.\" You hold out your arms expectantly to take the crate from your attendant, who hesitantly stops and turns toward you fully.\n\n\"You 'insist,' sir? Well... if you're quite certain.\" He stretches his arms forward and lowers the crate onto yours. You're immediately surprised at how heavy it actually is, deceptively so for its size.\n\n[Athletics Check: 2+0 - Failure]\nhttps://gyazo.com/b21877bb24180a6072ce386e0e579bab\n\n(I swear I didn't rig this, it's just really bad luck TwT)\n\nOnce Gerard's arms slide out from under the crate, you find yourself lacking for the strength necessary to lift it on your own. The crate pulls you toward the ground with it, causing you to tumble face-first down into the dirt and the wooden container to break open on impact. Splinters try to dig into your paws, but are thankfully unable to worm through your thick fur. A rather sizable pile of what appears to be metal chunks comes spilling out across the grass and dirt, leaving a big mess to be cleaned up.\n\nYour first immediate thought is to berate yourself for fucking up Gerard's task, but that self-loathing idea is quickly replaced by indignant curiosity; why was he lugging something like this around anyway? As you move to push yourself back up, you hear his voice speaking out, rather than in anger as you expected, in a barely-concealed panic.\n\n\"By Pelor! Master Andrew, are you alright?\" You roll over onto your back and give a quick nod. Your paws and arms sting a bit, but nothing serious enough to complain about over, especially as this was your own screw up.\n\n\"Yeah, I'm alright, Gerard. Sorry, I had no idea it would be that heavy.\" You try to apologize, but the old bird is having none of it.\n\n\"Nonsense, sir. I should have been more resolute in my duties. My efforts to the Brightons are not something so easily shared. I should get this cleaned up right away, if you'll excuse me.\" He holds out a wing to help you up, but he is off and away the moment that you are back on your feet.
