Dad was always away at work, and Mom did her best to pull in extra income with her side job. Still, the economy was rough, and the hardworking family still struggled each month to make their bills and put food on the table.\nMom was banking on some overtime credit at work, and give her poor children something to look forward to. Sadly, the store was shut down early due to an unexpected incident, and her overtime earnings would have to be delayed until after the holidays. Broken hearted, she went home with nothing to offer her two wonderful children. It was all she could do to hold back her tears and explain to her kids that Santa may have missed their house on Christmas Eve, but was more than likely going to make it back to their house later that week.\n\nThough I didn't draw it, I had a little story montage in my head of my Lynx family stopping by shortly after on Christmas Day to give some gifts of charity, and more importantly, spend some time with the family to remind them that the holidays means more than what you get.\nAnd before you ask, the stockings say the names of Lucas and Stanley, Stanley being the older boy.\nAs someone himself who grew up quite poor, I can say that holidays like Christmas are extremely bittersweet, and that often even getting a humble pair of socks can express volumes of love and sacrifice from someone who cares, moreso than any brand new XBox or shiny toy ever could.\n\nI have a short weekend to Art tomorrow. I'm working on a short 6 panel standalone comic page, as well as more Ask My Character responses. I did this quick doodle sketch at work today, and I'm constantly thinking about you guys'n'gals.
