Dogs are seen as signs and omens, whether they be in dreams or on the road. One gifted shaman made it her goal to learn why dog creatures had suddenly begun appearing to her. Her dreams were stalked by large black dogs. A dog prowled outside her home every new moon but left no tracks. A dog snarled back at her from her crystal ball. The smoke of a snuffed candle briefly took a canid form.
What could it mean? What were the spirits trying to tell her?
She began a personal quest seeking answers. Through fasting and meditation, she entered half-waking dream trances where she sought her answers. Still, the dogs persisted but none gave up the secrets behind their presence.
The shaman had dreams of forests and gardens, sprouting great, vibrant flowers that bloomed, spilling what appeared to be dog-children out into the grass, who then played and frolicked. With each subsequent dream, the shaman noticed one specific puppy boy seemed to draw closer to her. One dream ended when he nuzzled up into her arms, looked into her eyes smiling and said a single word.
"Momma."
The shaman was perplexed. What could that possibly mean? She had to know.
Using a powerful ritualistically prepared hallucinogen, the shaman dove deeper into her dream than ever before. What she saw on the other side showed her the full extent of the dark powers at play.
She entered a forest, darkened and twisted from choking vines and weeds. She saw the projected forms of other shamans of every sex and many races, some of whom were not human. Every last one of them was being taken by monstrous dogs, some anthroid, some quadrupedal, all were grotesque and monstrous. Male shamans were pinned by bitches who ground their sopping genitals down upon their victims, swallowing their cocks inside them. Female shamans were taken by male dogs burying their knots inside and flooding wombs with foul seed. The shaman noticed ethereal spirits of the dog children she'd seen previously floated and swam excitedly over each act of copulation. Then she saw the one that had called her momma. He smiled at her, swam around her, and giggled at her. Then she saw the father. A looming hulking brute vaguely rottweiler in appearance. On the night of the birth, she entered a dream trance. She lay upon an altar covered with dark runes and symbols. The altar sat in the middle of a blasted clearing surrounded by a corrupted forest. The father of her pup appeared from the cheering beasts. He lay both hands upon her belly and recited an incantation. Increasing in intensity as her son emerged from her. The father held him up for the orgy of beasts to see. They cheered, roared, and whooped their elation.
Then she woke. She examined herself and could find no evidence of the last several months, or even of her pregnancy, much less having given birth mere moments ago.
