", "writing": "Acquaintances From Another World\n\nEnjoying another beautiful day, basking on a bed of vibrant grass and sighing as he laid back with a bit of straw poking out the corner of his mouth, crossing his legs and slipping his hands underneath his head, Asriel loved having lazy days where he didn't need to do anything at all. The young, 9 year old prince was well aware that he wouldn't always have the luxury of having plenty of free time, seeing how hard his mom and dad both work to keep the kingdom running, so the little goat was determined to enjoy every last moment of his time off from studies and having to learn how to run the place. Even when all alone, with all of his friends busy and his parents taking care of official business (or at least that's what the pair always told their son when shoving him out of their chambers for a few hours every week), Asriel knew how to just relax and enjoy the quiet. Wearing his striped green shirt and his jeans, a bit of his white, fluffy fur exposed and blowing in the breeze, the goat closed his eyes, content to just be alone with his thoughts or maybe even take a little nap. Fate had other plans for the preteen boy however, Asriel’s relaxation suddenly interrupted by an odd noise coming from somewhere nearby, a sort of rushing sound akin to a raging current streaming down a river, doubly odd since the cub was absolutely certain there were no rivers, lakes, ponds, or even puddles anywhere near the field he'd chosen to settle down at. Curious, the prince sat up, spitting the straw out his mouth as he peered into the direction of the forest where the sound was coming from, seeing a weird flashing light flickering from beyond the trees, as if a lightning storm was localised entirely within the woods. Hopping up to his feet, the goat scurried closer to investigate, carefully peering from beyond a tree to see what looked like a bright, blue, swirling mass hovering in the air, little jolts of energy surging from the thing. Amazed at the sight, having seen nothing like it, the cub carefully stepped in front of the swirling thing, peering into it as he squinted, swearing he was almost able to see something, or someone, moving about on the other side, taking a tentative step closer, \n“H… hello? Is… is there anyone there?”\nBefore Asriel could investigate any further however, an invisible force suddenly grabbed onto the boy, yanking him right into the portal, his startled bleat echoing across the woods as he was pulled inside, the portal closing up and disappearing the second he was through it. \n\nTravelling through a void, spinning around in weightless space as he screamed and flailed, nearly hurling from the rough ride he was having, Asriel slipped out of the unexplainable dimension just as suddenly as he'd found himself there. Spit out by a portal just like the one he'd spotted in the woods, the young goat yelled as he flew in an arc, falling face first against something soft, though from the pained grunt that the said something gave as soon as he made his rough landing the prince deduced that it was a someone instead. Groaning, holding his head as he staggered up to his feet, having to take a moment to adjust back to which way was up again, the goat shook off the shock of his short yet eventful journey, looking around at the new world he found himself in. He'd landed right in the middle of some sort of a town square, or possibly a castle, almost pitch black walls of stone all around him, monolithic towers rising high into the heavens, the entire sky cloaked in the purple hue of a late dusk. Asriel had no idea where he had been sent, having never seen such a place anywhere in his travels, not even hearing any tales about anything like it from his parents or the many visitors to his court, guessing that he was very, very far from home. Hearing another groan from whoever had broken his fall, Asriel looked down at his feet to see an odd looking boy, a goat of some sort just like him. The stranger was a few years older than Asriel, dressed in a green robe, a light purple scarf wrapped around his neck, his brimmed and long hat lying on the ground next to him, knocked off his head when he'd acted as an unwitting pillow to the visitor. Two long horns sprouted from the older boy's head, his fluffy fur the same shade of bright white as Asriel’s, standing out from the rather dark surroundings like a singular ray of sunshine in the middle of the night. \n\nCovering his snout and blushing lightly, feeling bad for bowling over the stranger even though he hadn't exactly had much of a say in the matter, Asriel quickly knelt down to grab the fellow goat's hand, trying to help the teen up, \n“I'm very sorry about that, I didn't mean to… well… be sent flying into you like that. Quite honestly, I… don't really know what happened, or where I am…”\nThe green-robed boy gave a shy smile as he grabbed Asriel’s hand, staggering up to his feet and grabbing his hat off the ground, quickly slipping it back over his head and cloaking his face in the shadows as he chuckled, \n“Oh, it's alright, it's my fault really. I should've been more careful, I hadn't ever used that spell before.”\n“Spell? So… was that… thing your doing? You brought me here?”\nThe teen nodded as Asriel looked around, \n“My name is Ralsei, welcome to my world!”\nTaken back as the scarf-wearing cub stuck out a hand, still a little confused and discombobulated as he shook it, the little prince scratched his head, \n“I'm… I'm Asriel, nice to meet you. But…your world? Where are we?”\nReaching down to grab an ancient looking book off the floor, dusting it off before tucking it under his arm, Ralsei cleared his throat, \n“It's a little… difficult to explain, and quite honestly I'm not entirely sure if I really grasp the specifics of it either. But… you're very far away from your world at the moment. Not to worry though, I can send you back!”\nGlancing up at the dark towers looming all around him, trying to straighten out the tuft of fur on his head after the tumble he'd taken, Asriel tried to follow along to whatever the mage was explaining, \n“That's good to hear. But why did you bring me here?”\nRalsei thought about it for a moment, as if trying to come up with an answer before just shrugging his shoulders, \n“I found this tome just a few days ago, and I wanted to experiment with the new magic it talks about. And I also wanted to make new friends!”\n“Oh… so… I don't need to go on some world saving adventure, do I?”\nThe goat just smiled and shook his head, \n“Nope! But I can give you a tour of my home, if you'd like.”\n“Well… sure, that sounds fun!”\n\nGuiding his newfound friend along, Ralsei showed the boy around Castle Town, beginning with a big fountain of pure darkness near the centre of the town, watching the prince closely as Asriel took in the sights of the place and its many residents, \n“This place is pretty big, reminds me of my home. Is this the capital of your lands?”\nThe older goat thought about if for a moment before nodding, adjusting his big hat, \n“Pretty much. This is the only place in our world that all of its residents, we darkners, can stay in for as long as they like. We all come from a specific dark world, and we'll turn to stone if we stay inside of another world for too long.”\nStepping over to the big fountain, sitting along its side and giving the stonework a pat, Ralsei looked over his shoulder at the torrent of pure darkness, almost looking like a flowing night sky, pitch black with glimmers of stars visible in the liquid, \n“The darkness from the fountain keeps that from happening here in Castle Town however, so everyone can stay here without worries about turning into a statue.”\nAsriel hummed as he looked around at the many varied sorts of creatures going about their day, \n“So, if this is the dark world, does that mean there's a light world as well?”\n“Yes, but…”\nRalsei stammered for a while, giving an awkward look before finally just shaking his head gently, \n“Well… unfortunately I can't really show you all that. And it might actually be best if we just stayed within Castle Town for the time being as well.”\n“Why's that?”\nTapping the old book tucked under his arm, the teenager gave a sheepish smile, \n“If I understood it correctly, and I'm not entirely sure I did, you might only really… exist within this place. And going outside of it might maybe erase you from the universe, kinda? Again, I'm not entirely clear on that front, but I think it's best to play it safe.”\n“Oh.”\nSeeing the slightly nervous look on his guest's face, Ralsei cleared his throat and hopped up to his feet, putting an arm around the younger boy's shoulders as he thought up of a way to cheer the little royal up,\n“Oh, actually, I know exactly what we should do! The kitchen always has some sweets in store, you'll love them, c’mon!”\nThough he wasn't overly fond of what he was hearing about his existence possibly being erased from the universe, Asriel could never turn down a sweet treat, giving an anxious chuckle as he was nudged along, trying to put what he'd just learned out of his mind.\n\nAfter a quick visit to the kitchen, with the two boys pilfering a few freshly baked muffins for themselves, the pair headed inside, the young mage showing his guest down a hallway, \n“...and this is where me and my friends are staying. There's Kris, Susie, and a lot of others, I'll have to introduce you to them sometime. Though right now they're all on some sort of a trip, just me holding down the fort here.”\nNodding and munching on his muffin as the teenager explained and led him along, walking down the hallway as he popped the last mouthful of his sweet treat into his maw, Asriel came to a door near the very end as the horned teen held up a hand, \n“And this right here is my room. Now, before I let you inside, I've… uhh… I'll need you to…”\nRalsei stammered for a while, fiddling with his cloak nervously before he just reached into one of his pockets, pulling out a scarf similar to the one he had wrapped around his neck, though coloured red instead of the near pink that he was wearing. The older boy looked away with a light blush as he handed the scarf to his guest, clearing his throat, \n“You'll need to blindfold yourself before I can let you in.”\n“What? Why?”\nClutching the old tome, hugging it like a stuffed toy, Ralsei squirmed on the spot, \n“There's just… there's a lot of… magical… stuff there. And it's not safe for people to… see it all… yeah. So that's why. Just put it on, please.”\nThough still a little confused and unsure, Asriel didn't question his host too much, as the goat had been very nice to him so far, shrugging as he held the soft, silky scarf in his hands, laying it over his eyes and tying the makeshift blindfold around the back of his head.
