Peeking over his shoulder once more, Olkeza quickly ducked behind a corner once he was certain that no one was hot on his tail, pressing his back against the warm sandstone as he gasped for air, trying to catch his breath. Hoping that he'd successfully lost his pursuer, the Vulpera cub slowly and carefully peeked out from behind the old building he was using to hide, taking a look out at the street. Much to the boy's relief, he could only see the usual sights of his hometown: a few caravans passing through and making good use of the water and provisions the oasis community provided, a handful of the city's residents going about their day and taking care of the tasks that couldn't wait until the cool relief of sundown. Just as Olkeza was sure that he was safe, ducking back behind the building with a sigh, leaning back and closing his eyes with a smug smile, a shape suddenly leapt out at him from the shadows of the alleyway, knocking him to the floor and pinning him in place as he let out a yelp. Looking up, the Vulpera saw a grinning Sethrak boy staring down at him, the reptile’s lush green scales glimmering in the light as a menacing rattle hissed in the air, his assailant’s tail shaking as a pair of fangs peeked out from the Sethrak’s maw, \n“Tag~”\nOlkeza groaned and pushed the chuckling snake off of him, jumping up to his feet and dusting off his clothes, slapping his puffy tail to get all of the sand out of it as he shook his head, \n“No fair, you're taller than me with those long and lanky legs. You gotta give me more than ten seconds to run.”\nTezzol pulled himself up, patting his Vulperan friend on the back as he smirked, whipping the rattle on the tip of his tail, \n“Oh, but I don't get any extra time when we're playing hide and seek? I'm almost a head taller than you, and green. How is a green-scaled Sethrak supposed to hide in a desert?”\nThe pair chuckled as they both stepped out from the alleyway, staying in the shadows of the buildings as they strolled along the main road leading through their town, out of the scorching sunlight. Though the two had a few years’ age difference to one another, with Tezzol being almost four years older than the canine boy, the duo had been best friends right from the moment they'd first met. Their fathers were close friends as well, closer than the boys even fully realised, leading to the two first meeting some years back. With their desert town not having very many other kids to play with, the cubs often spent their free time with just each other, making the hours pass just fine even in the scorching wasteland of Vol’dun. \n\nItching for some more fun to pass the time with, but eager to get out from under the sun, the two boys quickly snuck off towards the outskirts of the small town, heading to an old storage building left mostly deserted after a new one had been built on the other side of the town. Hopping up to sit down on an empty crate, Olkeza sighed as he fanned himself softly, enjoying the shade as his scaled friend took a seat next to him, their tails touching as both took a moment to catch their breaths. Even closer still, the group began hearing the burbling of running water, a rarity in the desert, riding along the patch of greenery to find a little river. The water seemed to be bubbling up from some underground spring in the mountain, briefly surfacing to the ground and snaking its way down a path carved into the stone and sand, before dipping below ground again a while away from the mountain. Unable to think of a more idyllic spot to set up their camp, Rekie glanced back over his shoulder at the rest of the group, his ears giving a flick as he grinned, \n“Think we've found our place, huh?”\nGetting nods both from his lover, as well as the cubs, Rekie dismounted his steed, helping Vamiss off of the hyena as well as they all began to unpack, the two Sethrak staying slightly more off to the side as much as they could to hide the excitement that the teasing during their trip had caused.
